Head Coaching Candidates

Still....i really think we need a change. His message is running dull here and im not sure hes the best guy for Lamars development

So i guess our best option is to stick with Harbaugh. Honestly. Been seeing a lot of fans of other teams flabbergasted that were considering firing harbaugh. Saying theyd fire their coaches for him asap
Harbaugh is a great coach.. flacco is the one that needs to go imo. Its like fans dont wanna blame him for some reason. Id rather keep harbaugh and let flacco go rather than keep flacco and let harbaugh leave.

Some of the faces Harbaugh made during the game when the camera zoomed in on him were insightful i thought. He was constantly like “are you fckin kidding me with this shit” shaking his head and stuff. Like because at the end of the day the loss to the Steelers was hardly on Harbaugh. He’s supposed to go out there and play defense? Or make Flacco play better? He hasn’t been a great coach this year but this loss at least was hardly on him.

The main thing I blame Harbaugh for is being too clingy to his coordinators. He should’ve fired Marty long ago. Hell it took Pees retiring to get rid of him. And those are only the recent ones.

I think Harbaugh is a good coach and Flacco and the offenses play have really anchored the team the last few years there’s no doubt about it. But sometimes it’s just time for a change. Harbaugh might go somewhere else and find success but his time is just up here. And Flacco is obviously gone sometime soon because of Lamar. So I doubt we will have to choose between either of them.

Joe didn't blow a 4th and 12 in the final game of the season, he also didn't blow that game against the Steelers in week 16 allowing a TD drive with a minute remaining. I've held Joe accountable myself, but keeping Harbaugh would mean that this team is settling for mediocrity if they miss the postseason again and he stays. It's not all on him, I agree but at the end of the day, this is life in the NFL for most HCs.

While I do agree that Flacco has simply been an average QB and that he probably is the main reason our offense is so boring to watch, I do know too that our coaching staff is just not creative enough to make Lamar shine when his time comes. I think the last two games have clearly shown our inability to outscheme teams that are not better than us on paper. This team is humming with potential and talent, and this season is showing that someone else needs to take the reigns and make all that talent blossom.

That true but imo i think flacco football iq isnt up to par and thats why we cant really scheme good on offense. Watching arod and brady play last night, its like they are giving 3 plays and depending on how the cvg looks theyre givimg the option to aud accordingly. They actually make presnap reads and adjustments. What they see is what their hc/oc sees.. flacco never does that. Whatever the play is regardless of cvg, he almost never audibles out.

That much is unfortunately mostly true. Still, I don't expect Lamar to shine with his football IQ, especially with pre snap reads which he just can't do as of now. Someone needs to help him simplify his reads and get guys open.

Apart from the McVay and Shanahan connection what makes LaFleur great? I saw two titans games and he didn't convince me at all. His personnel isn't ideal, but still he clearly misuses Henry and can't get him going. The 2 pt conversion play against the Chargers was horrible that's something I'd expect Marty to call but not a guy who has learned under McVay and Shanahan

I'm with this. I still think Marty is pivotal in Lamar's growth. Ozzie and co. need to be held accountable as well.

There's plenty of games Joe blew though by not scoring early, then always playing a catch game, like that one that ended on 4th&12.

Yeah pretty much. I always hated watching Peyton Manning play because ever. single. play. he would take 10-20 seconds calling audibles because of what he sees from the defense. And although it was annoying damn he was good and it worked and I wish Flacco would do that even occasionally.

Nothing. He’s not great. He’s shown to be nothing special. Not all guys on a coaching tree prove to be good and I wouldn’t take a chance on him

I'm not too sure bringing in an offensive minded coach is the way to go though. Sure the league is becoming an offensive one, but I think the real problem with this defense, other than a lack of pass rush(though this would certainly correct it to an extent) is that we have the personel for a 4-3 but don't run it too often. I wanted Teryl Austin last season to replace Harbaugh. I think the same thing. We've invested too much on the offensive line for power players to run a zone scheme. Orlando Brown jr. in a zone scheme is just asking for him to be eaten alive. I think Roman and Urban are going to stay here. For all this talk that "Marty is integral to Lamar's development", no two people on this staff are more equipped to develop a QB like Lamar Jackson than Roman and Urban. Roman is absolutely ideal for his role as a run game coordinator, and in fact is the perfect OC for him anyways. Roman is amazing at implementing two TE sets, which under Lamar can be devestating. We would need to find a running back that fit the scheme, but the draft will have a few quality options.

I'm still on Teryl Austin. We've made the investments on the defense. Let's get a guy who has gotten more out of far less talent. Our defense is better equipped for his 4-3 anyways. It would easily preserve Suggs, Tim Williams would be far more effective, Pierce and Henry would be a nice 1-2 punch with Wormley and Seiler also rotating in(actually... All of them are kind of better fits in the scheme anyways). Judon works far better as a power rusher with his hand in the dirt.

We have the pesonel to have a damn good 4-3 LB corps anyawys. TYUS BOWSER IS NOT AN EDGE RUSHER. STOP USING HIM LIKE THAT. And Kenny Young has proven in limited action that he could be a top tier WILL LB in this league. We have the ideal MIKE in CJ. Bowser and Kenny could provide excellent pieces in that regard.

I'd keep the offensive staff that we do have with Roman and Urban and promote one of them to OC. Let Lamar develop with people he is familiar with. I'd hire Austin. Familiar with the organization, players here really liked him. Proven commodity as a DC, ideal personnel.

As long as we have a good OC I couldn’t care less whether we have an offensive or defensive coach. Hire Austin as the HC and also call plays on D or what?
