Head Coaching Candidates

Has anyone brought up Pete Carmichael, Saints OC? I know the system is mainly Payton's, but Carmichael has been there for 13 seasons so either he has learned a lot from Payton or there is a good reason why he has been there for 13 seasons.

Pretty sure Payton calls the plays and that's why he hasn't been offered a job?

I wouldn't mind if Bisciotti and DeCosta considered Ray as the next HC, provided he has any interest in the job at this stage.
Wouldn't mind that at all.
We could see if Ray Rice is interested.

I’m sure he could teach our defense how to lay some big hits

Do you really want to hear ray talk about himself in every presser? No thanks

Why does anyone watch coach pressers is the real question. Pointless shit.
Yeah. Pressers are utterly worthless. Either you get generic coach answers, or you get a coach rarely snapping and saying something dumb, and the second thing will get passed around afterward. It's pointless actually watching them happen.

you learn nuggets from the way coaches respond to certain questions - the way they phrase certain answers give you things to parse out if you know what to look for

i dont often watch pressers mid-season but i will be closely watching the coach pressers this week i think with the qb situation with joe's injury

We shouldn't rule out Jim Bob Cooter, the current OC of the Lions. He's been on teh top of the lists for some time now.

he designs offences nicely around getting the ball into the hands of the receivers quickly - he likes to get the ball out quick (which seems odd given that he's the OC for the only qb in the league - until recently - with an arm stronger than joe's) but the lions just traded their best weapon in that version of the passing game away

and he's fairly versatile with running schemes - the lions have introduced more of a zone blocking system this year (albeit with some 1 gap pulls etc. scattered in) but that's a change from the rest of his career... you could make the case that doesnt bode well for him as a non-zone blocking coach but if you look at the change in personnel with adding frank ragnow and kerryon johnson it's probably not a fair comparison (ragnow has been a bully in the running game and kerryon johnson has been incredible early in his career)

id certainly be intrigued by jim bob cooter and i cant believe i left him off all the other lists i had - ive enjoyed him since he replaced joe lombardi midseason as OC

I just really, really don’t want I coach with the name of jim bob. And on top of that his last name is cooter.

Such a horrible name.

The lions were mocked for promoting him because of his stupid name and lack of experience

He was a household name at OC within a few weeks

There’s lots of stupid names in the nfl that nobody says anything about or even notices anymore...

I don't really want Jim Bob Cooter as the new HC. The Lions seem to just have a culture of mediocre and underperforming. I would rather get a coach from a team that plays hard and over achieves.
