Head Coaching Candidates

Just a quick comment here.......Brady is a good QB, but the Pats offense certainly has benefited greatly from BB’s regimented approach to the game and having the same OC for almost 15 years. IMO that talent and stability in philosophy, game planning and play calling are the main reasons they have been consistently successful, not Brady. Many feel you could plug any one of a number capable QBs into that system and they could have been just as successful.

Only delusional people who argued that flacco was just as good as brady would feel that......

LMAO! you are one weird poster.

I know you were trolling because after all you are all Troll 11, King of Trolls(lol) but just an edit here to ask the question. Who ever made that argument? I don’t recall ever reading that here or on the old boards and it certainly wasn’t me if that’s what you’re inferring as I’ve never been into comparing QBs. There’s too many variables between teams, coaching, personnel, etc.. But I have always maintained Brady is hands down the most over rated player in the game. BB is what has made that team what it is, not Brady.

The hires of D'Alessandris, Urban and Roman on offense turned out to be great. But honestly what do you think of Marty? He's ultimately in charge of the offense and the results aren't good.

I really don't dislike Marty Mornhinweg that much. I think he has his moments where he can be really creative. The Ravens first game against The Steelers this year shows that he can get creative with his play calling at times. The major issues so far with The Ravens offense this year is the run game which could be addressed correctly by having Orlando Brown start at right tackle and have James Hurst start at left guard.

Honestly I really don't want The Ravens to fired John Harbaugh and I hope that he stays. I'm hoping for The Ravens to make the playoffs this year because I honestly like what John Harbaugh has built coaching staff wise this year especially on the offensive side of the ball. I don't think The Ravens front office have consistently done a good job with surrounding John Harbaugh with talent but even with limited cap space at times and injuries it is probably fact that John Harbaugh has only had one losing season for the past four years.
I hear you on the whole "get rid of John" rhetoric; however, there's some credence to getting rid of him, too. We've been outcoached a lot of times and we have also not adjusted, which is really something that pertains to coaching and not necessarily personnel. With that being said, I don't know if firing or letting John go would be the panacea this team needs. I'm also not convinced he is actually gone despite strong reports, as I recall comments stating Marvin Lewis was done last year but that dude has lasted. I did thinking on this and this is what I am thinking is the true story here:

I think Steve did talk to John, but I think it was about another one year extension and John wasn't having that. I say that because the reports keep saying Harbaugh won't take another one-year deal to avoid the lame duck label. Steve also said at his press conference that he wouldn't give a mandate of "Playoffs or Bust" and still keep John because he may as well fire him [John] now. That says to me that he knows there's some work to be done; however, we know he's [Steve] isn't OK with mediocrity, too. That's why I feel this is a look at the whole season not just the games up to this point. Steve's probably mad and stuff but I'm not yet convinced John is gone. So I'm guessing that because Steve maybe offered John a one-year extension, John probably passed and didn't want to do that again and told his agent and his agent probably let the story out to JLC. That's my best guess.

Harbaugh has hired some other guys who were good but he's had some misses and some hits. I'm not sure he's the worst or the best at hiring assistant coaches. Castillo was hit or miss because he had his major issues but he also had some nice benefits, too. Cam was good early on but got progressively worse so I think he was good for early Joe but bad as Joe progressed. I wanted Norv Turner and I wish we hired him. I wasn't a fan of Trestman and Marty is eh.

I think the biggest hit on Harbaugh has been that he doesn't seem to have a philosophy for the offense that he wants to build. There's no real identity to it. The hire of Trestman in particular showed that. He had a great thing going in Kubiak's system and then instead of promoting from within or finding a guy that runs a similar scheme he hired someone that does the exact opposite, and who didn't mesh well with the other parts of the offense.

I think Harbaugh would be better at hiring OC and DCs if he had a identity for the team in mind and tried to get people that fit that.

Yeah that’s true on identity but also he didn’t have a real chance to promote from within because Kubiak took his guys with him

These were some candidates back in 2015: Gase, Kyle Shanahan and Trestman. You want to keep Kubiak's system which I fully understand, but you don't hire Shanahan? The guy ran Kubiaks and his fathers system.

Missed on Shanahan when we hired Kubiak actually. If we tried again in 2015, he clearly was more interested in the Falcons job.

now start the coordinator rumours if harbs does keep his job:

according to rapsheet, kubiak is back in the fray to be a a potential OC candidate this offseason

Damn I just read this article.
Only if Harbaugh stays I can see him returning back, he expressed his love for the Ravens multiple times and only moved on because it was a special situation (he rejected numerous HC offers before Elway made his). I'm note sure if we hired a new HC that the new guy wants to surrender the offense completely to Kubiak. Want do you think?

that's why i was talking about this IF Harbs stays... interesting as it is - it may be a year too late tbh for him to come to us

I can’t shake the feeling guys, I just can’t, and this feeling is that JOSH MCDANIELS who I HATE btw would be the absolute best thing that could happen to lamar. I think lamar is a perfect fit for mcdaniels style of offense and a genius like him could break new ground and set trends with Lamar. If his attitude and immaturity has changed, he would be, imo, the perfect candidate. He’s fiery and passionate, but implements a system that could turn lamar into a premiere qb.

Part of me doesn't think Kraft is letting him go anywhere.

Nah. He fucked up Colts because he obviously got promises at NE

I think he means he will get the Pats job when BB is gone.
Bills gotta go first though.

There were rumors that the reason the patriots were supposedly interested in lamar was due to josh mcdaniels wanting him to be the future qb for when bill and Brady retires, maybe he feels slighted that they passed on his guy twice and basically told him to fuck off.
