So it's coincidence that he's the worst qb in the league for 8 weeks and then leads one of the best and most efficient offenses the second half?

Total coincidence, the well documented injury that kept him out of the entirety of training camp, didn't hold him back.

Sure it may have held him back, but he played so you expect him to be capable of leading the offense.

We came one play away from making the playoffs with our injuries, but you can’t say we weren’t affected. It’s not an excuse, but we were affected by it.

That’s just the games they missed they were knocked out of the game after playing a few snaps and were able to play the week after. As good as a player Yanda is (probably the best guard in the league) it’s much easier to find guards to replace than it is tackles. If we lost Stanley for a stretch no doubt in my mind our offense would’ve been toast. Cowboys lost Tyron smith for a stretch and they couldn’t get anything going. Eagles were lucky to have a decent backup at LT. Just saying injuries to tackles outweigh injuries to guards. Even if we made playoffs I don’t see us winning games. Jags would’ve whipped us again, Steelers swept us. Chiefs offense probably too much for us, Titans already beat us, let’s not even mention the pats.

Yes but they may have been knocked out if games and played injured in some, but I’d rather have that, then lose Yanda for 14 full games and have a late offseason retire in Urban and Alex Lewis go down. This forced us to have to put Hurst and Skura in the lineup. I’m not saying left tackles aren’t harder to find. They absolutely are harder to find and teams don’t have two of them or atleast it’s very rare. Injuries hurt teams no matter what.

We lost over 200 game hours to injuries last yr. tops in the league. The Steelers were the healthiest team in the league for comparisons sake.

We will have to agree to disagree. I’m not using it as an excuse. I never do, but to say it doesn’t play a apart in wins and losses is wrong,
 
I really wanna go OL in the first. I feel like the value will be there, and Williams or McClinchey would fit right in, bring a big boost for the offense. Better pass pro and greatly better run block. Collins loves to run outside and another bookend mauler would help him big time. With great pullers in Yanda, Hurst and the TEs, this would give us some potent outside plays with both T being great seal blockers.

i just did a mock of the first round with a load of trades just to get an idea of how i think the draft ahead of us will look with all the free agency moves and trades and mcglinchey fell right into our lap at 16

I'm with you. I like McGlinchey a lot he can play both LT and RT. So we don't see Lewis or Hurst as LT again if Stanley misses a game or two.
D'Alessandris also had a private workout with Desmond Harrison.
 
I am all for drafting a combination of RT/C in the first three rounds.
McGlinchey/Ragnow
Wynn/ Parker
Hernandez/Crosby, etc
Ought to be a priority that we draft guys that start right away.

im really not a fan of crosby at all... and who's parker?
im not completely against this as an idea though albeit id rather we went heavier on receiver than oline

Brandon Parker LT Out of NORTH CAROLINA A&T

I can't get away from the idea of really going all out On building a dominant Oline.
Having McGlinchey/Ragnow/Stanley together for four or five years helps whoever it is we have under center.

I do love the idea of Ridley in the first but I'm not seeing a ton of difference so far as production as it regards receivers in rounds 2-4...perhaps even later.

Two or three of those guys could really develop into something. It's really a question of where these guys end up, how they fit, etc. In this class, perhaps more than any of late, I'd say we're just as likely to find that guy(or those guys) in the 3rd round on as we are in round two.
 
I honestly do find it amazing that for the past 3 seasons weve had Osemele (set the market for LG), Wagner (set the market for RT), and Jensen (set the market for C) all leave after being developed at the castle. We are really turning into an oline factory and the amazing part is, none of those guys were first round picks and two were day 3 picks.

If we kept all those guys we might have had the best oline in the league today but theres no way we couldve matched those contracts.

I feel like Alex Lewis could be the next guy in line to get a big pay day at either LG or RT as Id like to think Stanley will get a long term deal from us when hes due. Makes me confident in any olineman we draft including the project guys like Eleumenor. Siragusa was also a day 3 pick and has potential if he can overcome his injury. Weve made Wagner and Jensen work out so I dont see why 1/3 or even 2/3 of Lewis, Eleumenor, and Siragusa wont pan out to become quality NFL starters on the line.

This isnt to say that we shouldnt draft more. We still need more competition at RT and interior oline specifically C.

Either way id like to say id feel completely confident in our Oline AS LONG AS we draft a couple in the draft, and it can be in any round as far as im concerned. But when we do draft high....we dont miss very often

Yeah and for my money D'Alessandris has developped players even better than Castillo. Skura could also end up being a coveted guy if he keeps on getting better.

he's so underpowered though that i hope he doesnt hit the field...
but i agree about d'allesandris - he had an even harder job than castillo had with the ravens last year and he still turned the ravens OL unit into a top 10 unit despite all those injuries
