The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, and the Ravens Offense: Week 6 Edition

I don't care how old they are. The fact of the matter is that these players have shown that they can play. Larry Fitzgerald is 34 and he's still an animal. Pretty sure Jerry Rice did it until he was nearly 40.

Who cares where Collins came from? He's shown that he can bust off big plays. Richard Sherman was a fifth rounder, Chris Harris Jr. was undrafted, James Harrison came off the practice squad, Donald Driver was a seventh rounder, etc.

The fact of the matter is that the Ravens invested good money into players like Maclin, Wallace, and Watson and they are showing this year that they are very capable of still going out there and making plays.
Your defending watson and wallace after they combine for 58 yards against a secondary that you said we should take advantage of. Cmon man

He's had a terribly shaky start this season. That said, he's also seen a paltry 15 targets in 6 games. I'm unsure of how that can qualify as getting a player involved.
Agree. What’s the point of putting the receiver on the field if you aren’t going to throw to him when he gets open and he’s been open this season.

It’s like you people forget Perriman was really raw out of college. He is literally in his second year (I don’t count his rookie year), and he’s never had a healthy offseason to actually develop. I hope he freaking puts it together and leaves after next year and becomes a pro bowler somewhere just so I can laugh at you people saying he’s been a bust for a long time.
Ya he was really raw. Guess what 3 years later....hes still really raw. Theres an issue there

I never said our offense was anywhere near stacked, so I'm not sure where you're getting that idea.

Sure, the offense is paper thin and that's what happens when you lose Urschel, Siragusa, Lewis, Yanda, and Skura. Let me know what offensive line can withstand that. As for Jensen and Howard, they've played exceptionally well for the Ravens. I don't care why he was let go from Oakland, with regards to Howard (injuries, by the way) because he's playing really well here in Baltimore.

Who cares if Collins was an UDFA (he wasn't, by the way)? The fact of the matter is he's averaging over 7 yards per carry and has this propensity to break off long runs and gain yardage when the play feels lost. I think Collins has had a 20+ yard run in each game he's played this season. Does it really matter if we need three running backs to get production? Because right now, the Ravens are sixth in total rushing yardage in the entire NFL and averaging nearly 4.5 yards per carry. That's pretty damn good.

Sure, Watson isn't going to just bust out and have 100 yard receiving games, but he's an incredibly steady presence that Flacco clearly trusts when the Ravens need a first down. He's got good hands and converts. That's all the Ravens need from him. Plus, he's proven to be a really good blocker.
I have absolutely supported Alex Collins so far this year earlier today saying " despite the fact that Collins shows out our offense looks like poop". But still as I said before our starters to begin the season were Terrance West and Buck Allen and even with Collins success and Ryan Jensen and Austin Howard's so called 'exceptional play' we have yet to establish a workhorse back capable of playing 3 down and putting up 100 yards...something we used to do very frequently in our heyday with Ray Rice, and again I say obviously we don't have the Rice like talent or capable o-line to do so.

I didn't mean to claim you made our team sound stacked, but claiming our guys on oline who have yet to allow a 100 yard rusher and have gotten Flacco sacked multiple times per game are exceptional, to me warrants similar comparison to stacked.

We most definitely had a bare minimum 80-20 defense -offense split this offseason and it's obviously showing now.

We lack talent for sure but I do agree with you that on paper even with all the injuries, we are truly better than this

Our offense would be better off if we just fire Marty Mornewhig, which is vastly overdue.

We ran the ball on 80%+ of our first half plays and what did we get for it? Nothing.

I've said for weeks now Mornewhig runs the shotgun draw more times on 2nd/3rd and long than any coach in NFL history with no success- Yet, He keeps. On. Running. Shotgun. Draws. On. 2nd. And 3rd. And. Long....with no success. Lol

Harbaugh continues to defend him and say "theres no need for changes/ we won't make changes, we just have to improve".

This pisses me off and makes me want to fire Harbaugh, Harbs WAKE UP. Last time I checked you were a special teams ace not an offensive ace.

Our offense is the worst in the league thanks in large part to our God awful OC and yet you refuse to deal with it.

So if we don't fire Mornewhig I say fire Harbaugh...his feeble and defensive coaching antics have gone on long enough. Give us a truly offensive minded/defensive minded HC and I betcha we'll see much needed improvements, aside from the consistent- "we gotta be better" comments form Harbaugh.

No I'm far from a fair weather fan, I just KNOW our team should be able to be a contender even with this banged up roster right now, and I'm ready to see us be a contender again.
The initial figures provided above are almost comically incorrect. We passed the ball 24 times in the first half. Even if you discount the 11 straight passing plays to finish the half, we ran the ball just 11 times in the first half, or just 31.5% of our total plays. We did so for a total of 73 yards on those 11 plays. Our passing game netted 84 yards on its 24 plays in the very same span. That's not mentioning the 9 yards lost on two sacks, bringing the total net down to 75 yards. So the final tally pits 11 for 73 against 24 for 75 If anything, we didn't run the ball enough, not when our two runners combined for 123 yards on 23 carries.

And of the 26 plays that were 2nd or 3rd and long in the entire game, only 6 were running plays. They went for a total of 29 yards. The 20 passing plays went for 70 yards, minus 5 lost on a sack. So on 2nd and 3rd and long plays, our running game netted 6 carries for 29 yards, 4.8 YPC. Our passing game netted 65 yards on 20 attempts, 3.25 yards per attempt. I'm personally all for attempt to view situations from different angles. But the circumstances described above are an absolute folly of misinformation.

We scored 6 poibts on offense vs the Bears.....at home....we cant get 1 TD drive or big play???? Cmon. Players and coaches have to step up. This is rediculous. Ozzie knows theres a problem. Now do something about it!!!

We'll unless we're seeking out and analyzing tape, what else do we have to go on?

Over enough time, all things should average out - so in the end, it comes down to production.
That's fair, but the former is an option via NFL Game Pass. And with our quarterback playing being also uneven, it's difficult to count entirely on the production evening out. I hope you understand where I'm coming from.

Ya he was really raw. Guess what 3 years later....hes still really raw. Theres an issue there
Hahaha this made me laugh. Yea everyone has been hoping for him to be a probowl type player since day one...4.3 speed, all world athletics, yet yr 3 after a 16 game season a year ago he is still dropping balls and getting injured.

Enough is enough
