The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, and the Ravens Offense: Week 6 Edition

Problem was and is, he’s all we got. Looks like Maclin is made of glass and Perriman, well......... I’d like to see Matthews and Moore get more reps, maybe they can step up.

The problem is.....none of the Ravens receivers are dawgs....not one! Scrap the whole lot and start fresh!

His tackling has been an issue. But to single out that specific play, he probably would have taken him down if he hadn’t gone for the strip on Howard. Which pisses me off even more.
Yep, another game breaker. See Christmas Day last year.

Yeah, so much for the thought of “the best group of WRs ever”. None of them are dawgs, shoot, none of them are even puppies at this point. It’s going to get better though. :(

If we ran the ball every down, we couldn’t do much worse than we already are doing.

The only dawg we have on offense is Alex collins

I’d Agree that we don’t need a complete overhaul, but Marty isn’t the guy to run this offense.

It’s never as bad or as good as it seems.

That is not Biscottis or Ozzies style. A "complete" overhaul, whatever that means is super costly and super temporary.
We have a lot and I mean A LOT of rearranging that needs to be done and there is no way for it to happen in one offseason and still make economic sense. I really think that process has already started. We did a crap ton or rearranging on the defense this offseason and came out significantly better than last season. Injuries have muddied the waters with the real results, but I stand by my statement. Our defence is significantly better this season compared to last.
If my hunch is right, I think this off season Ozzie will continue the process by significantly rearranging the offense.
I guess we will see if I am right this spring.

So what do the Ravens do about Weddle? He’s an extremely smart player that obviously makes the secondary better, but is consistently overmatched physically. His inability to tackle is killing us at times.

Is, has been, and will be for some time an issue to contend with. Ozzie likes to grab vets at the apex of their career or the top of the down slope. In my opinion it is not a bad idea. Quite the gamble, but can usually pay high dividends for a coupla' seasons or more.
Getting a player as they are skyrocketing rarely happens here. Unless it is in house. So the majority or our impact players are rookies and players beginning their descent. Both come with risks and tradeoffs.
I see Weddell much like Ray and Ed in that what they offered mentally significantly enough outweighed what they were lacking physically.

While most of the blame obviously goes to the offense, the defense had its issues too. We give up way too many rushing yards when Williams is hurt. And a rookie QB had a decent game against us. Our D just isn't clutch.

Bears 27, Ravens 24.

The Ravens defense definitely gave up huge yards and a few TD's but they also got a few key stops and turnovers today to aid their offense. The Ravens special teams however, was straight balling. They scored the following of our 24 points today:

ST = 3 pts (2nd qrtr...Tucker FG)
ST = 7pts (3rd qrtr...Rainey punt return...Tucker extra point)
ST = 3 pts (4th qrtr...Tucker FG)
ST = 3pts (4th qrtr.....Tucker FG)
ST = 6pts (4th qrt.....Campanaro punt return for a TD)

The point? WHERE THE HELL WAS THE OFFENSE???????

Ohhhh! That's right! They threw the 2 pt conversion on that Campanaro punt return to tie the game. Hooray! Give me a break! The offense was PATHETIC! :mad:

That conversion was sweet though.

Ok true! I forgot about Collins but these coaches are keeping him chained up by rotating him in and out. To me, name him the freakin' starter and be done with it!

How many games do the Ravens have to lose before drastic decisions are made?

Maybe we'll somehow skate to a mediocre record and one of the coaches will take a fall, and we'll continue this routine next year.

But while our defense gave up things here and there, they gave us stuff to keep us in the game. The offense did nothing to help them out. Even on a short field in OT. An average offense wins that game.

The rush defense is atrocious however.

And If Weddle jars the ball loose on that Howard run in OT, we're talking about Weddle as the hero. he didn't go for the tackle:

They scored points for the other team.

Alex Collins again proves to be our 1 Back and yet we INSIST on feeding the ball elsewhere. Our play calling makes no sense

The Ravens offense IS the "bad" and the "ugly".

No deep passes! No deep passes for TD's! No wide open receivers for TD's! No mid range passes for huge gains or TD's! No runs for big gains or huge yards for TD's! No redzone TD's! No redzone/goaline toss ups to the TE's for TD's! No QB scramble for the TD!

PURE TRASH!

As far as the "good?" Well, nothing to me but I'll let you fill in the ____________________.

Alex Collins leads the league in YPA, last I checked.

We aren’t feeding him the ball why? Look at Chicago and how they fed their RB...

Some positives ;

Rainey seemed to have a good feel returning kicks.
Judon becoming a better linebacker each week.
Collins at RB
Tucker/Koch
Ronnie Stanley.....can't think of a whole bunch more right now.
Oh, the home crowd for putting up with that performance and still making noise and remaining engaged.

Negatives

Lost the trenches....we do NOT have a great or even good run defense. Routinely playing with eight and nine in box and still unable to stop the run.

All three interior offensive line positions were man handled at times.
Six plays inside the ten yielding two field goals.....

Just horrendous use of the timeouts throughout. Why are we in such a hurry to call a timeout with a minute left in half one....after a first down with the offense moving...just poor clock management by Harbaugh.

So many sweeps outside mitigating Collins on the ground.

Refereeing was strange...

I sense we need wholesale change. The head coach and his staff for sure.
We must not put all our eggs in the Flacco basket. Painful as it might be to watch, it's better that this loses that we might pick as high as possible.

An embarrassing performance.
