I’d Agree that we don’t need a complete overhaul, but Marty isn’t the guy to run this offense.
It’s never as bad or as good as it seems.
That is not Biscottis or Ozzies style. A "complete" overhaul, whatever that means is super costly and super temporary.
We have a lot and I mean A LOT of rearranging that needs to be done and there is no way for it to happen in one offseason and still make economic sense. I really think that process has already started. We did a crap ton or rearranging on the defense this offseason and came out
significantly better than last season. Injuries have muddied the waters with the real results, but I stand by my statement. Our defence is significantly better this season compared to last.
If my hunch is right, I think this off season Ozzie will continue the process by significantly rearranging the offense.
I guess we will see if I am right this spring.
So what do the Ravens do about Weddle? He’s an extremely smart player that obviously makes the secondary better, but is consistently overmatched physically. His inability to tackle is killing us at times.
Is, has been, and will be for some time an issue to contend with. Ozzie likes to grab vets at the apex of their career or the top of the down slope. In my opinion it is not a bad idea. Quite the gamble, but can usually pay high dividends for a coupla' seasons or more.
Getting a player as they are skyrocketing rarely happens here. Unless it is in house. So the majority or our impact players are rookies and players beginning their descent. Both come with risks and tradeoffs.
I see Weddell much like Ray and Ed in that what they offered mentally significantly enough outweighed what they were lacking physically.
