On what evidence are you claiming we have a good offense?
We will never turn it around if that's our target.
Huh? Sorry, please point me to where I said we currently have a good offense. Oh yeah, I didn’t.

If that’s ONE of our targets, yes, we will have a decent offense next year. If we get a combination of Moncrief, and Gabriel, Landry, Sanders, Bryant, literally anyone decent, and have a good offensive draft we can have a good offense. We don’t need freaking super stars. And you’re undervaluing what Moncrief could bring to our offense.

Bt with your logic, moncrief will be dogshit because he's coming to a dogshit offense, which is what he's getting at

You didn't but you implied Moncrief would be good if surrounded by good offense. In other words, he's not the guy that makes offense better, just someone who is passable in already good offense.
We need game changers on our offense. I'm sick of signing guys just because they are cheap. And they are cheap because they are either old or they didn't do shit in previous season or two.

I know what he’s getting at. But what I’m getting at is we wouldn’t have a dogshit offense if we signed him and another decent WR and have a good draft. He’s a piece to the puzzle. Blaming Moncrief for playing poorly on one of the worst teams in the league is stupid. Healthy Flacco would be the best he’s had since Luck was healthy.

I agree to an extent. But the point being missed by ANYBODY that is gunning for a “good” which means adequate offense IS we don’t have 4 hall of fame caliber players on defense. With several pro bowl caliber as company. Many are thinking like he or she did in 2008-2011. When we were going for an adequate offense. The offense has to be better now cuz the defense isn’t dominant nor will it be anywhere in the near future. Especially while paying franchise money to slightly above average players. If the goal really is the Super Bowl. Unless the goal is upgrade enough to make the playoffs put up a good effort then hear thanks for coming. So the numnuts running the team can argue it’s competence with its fans. Then fine let’s shoot for an adequate offense. But keep this in mind. Even dominant defenses in this era usually end up having to win a shootout somewhere along its journey to that Exclusive Invitation only show.

Moncrief is a young player with the skills to have a really good opportunity to outplay his contract. And step up and show he can be the Alpha receiver. As is Brice Butler, Marqise Lee, Paul Richardson and Cody Latimer. Latimer is interesting. Landed in the doghouse for a nightclub incident. And wasn’t really needed playing behind established vets whose skills are now diminishing. And actually made some highlight reel plays when he got some opportunity behind as a result of an ineffective offense. He actually made some plays missing from Sanders and Demariyus last year. And made Osweiler look good for a game or 2 once he got some opportunity. There’s young players out there with the skills and desire to step up into a top shelf No.2 and even a No.1 role. But held back cuz of bad coaching, bad systems, poor team morale and motivation as well as various politics and scheme fit.

A couple examples is Brandon Loyd ran a bad 40 although he played really fast. Dropped from round 1 to late round4. Didn’t get opportunity as a result of smaller draft investment. And suddenly outa nowhere at 28 yrs old led the nfl in receiving yards. Emmanuel Sanders wasn’t really a fav of Ben and didn’t have much chemistry. He signed with Elway and was a free agent bargain. However signed a new big contract after that initial one and is 31 and slowing down. Then there is the blackballing of Zack Mettenberger to illustrate politics. He let it be known he could out throw the No.2 overall pick. A couple offensive lineman including Taylor Lewan backed him up and said it should be an open competition for the QB job. The whole situation was labeled a distraction and he was cut. Then he didn’t click well with Ben and Tomlin. And was to suggestive and adamant about wanting the top job while carrying a clipboard. Nobody can convince me he shouldn’t at least be a backup somewhere. There’s skill around the league not getting any opportunity

That's great news. A one year contract is a good deal and won't impact later cap space. If he can have a full healthy season Urban is a huge boost for our front seven.

I hope bears get landry just so they don’t go into a bidding war for AR15. That’s who we need! But then there’s 49ers. Dang.. hope they like Sammy Watkins lol

thinking about brent urban - i have to think that defensive linemen are going to be almost completely off our draft board altogether unless someone has a monster fall

we already went through the entirety of last year normally with 2 dlinemen inactive and that was after brent urban went down

i have to think that bronson kaufusi may not make it to the 53 this year (unless he has an incredible progression)

Kaufusi should be in serious danger at this point. Gave him a shot to play a little last year and he was so bad that he was benched and the team went short at DL for the rest of the game. Hopefully he shows something but his time here could be over very quickly for a day 2 pick.

i want to see some progression from wormley - albeit re-signing urban limits snapcounts

my hope is that now that urban is back - we can adjust how willie henry and michael pierce were used - im hoping we see more rotation this year because we have 5 dlinemen who should be starting in the league + a promising 2nd year player and a promising 2nd year fullback who can also rotate
kaufusi is 100% got to fight for his life to earn a spot over people at other positions - and he's gonna struggle because he doesnt offer much on special teams either

Agreed. I think Henry and Pierce, with a little Urban and Williams sprinkled in, should be the primary DL on obvious passing situations.

I'm not sold on Davis but he did do better last year so he should remain as valuable depth. Although Wormley didn't play much, I think he's a solid player that should carve out a role in due time.

That leaves Kaufusi out to dry, and not much room for 7 DL this year. Injuries can obviously change things, but as they stand now, Kaufusi is in a long, uphill battle. There are rumors that Ricard is dropping weight to fit a little better into the FB role, but I'd still bet they view him as DL7/emergency option over Kaufusi at this point.

I also think we need to move Williams back to NT and swap spots with Pierce. Last years little experiment didn’t work. All it did was make Pierce less of a threat as a pass rusher

The 2 of them work well with Brandon at 3 tech but only when we are in a nickel package vs the run

So given how much dime we run and how little base we ran I’d be 100% behind moving Brandon back to the nose
