2018 Free Agency

The 2 of them work well with Brandon at 3 tech but only when we are in a nickel package vs the run

So given how much dime we run and how little base we ran I’d be 100% behind moving Brandon back to the nose
Yep, but with our new DC we really have no idea what packages we are going to utilize on defense. No doubt some things will be different

I really think we will get Robinson. Now that he is on the market. For once management will pay market price for a game changer. Sign Robinson then draft DJ Moore and the offenses stock is gonna pull rocket like Morgan stanley

You know what's the most appealing about s guy like Landry to me? He plays with a comfort level that we have only seen from guys like sss and mason and boldin. It goes unmentioned, guys like Perriman, Wallace, Torrey, maclin, jacoby, Moore, etc. all look very tentative and unsure of anything they're doing, like they have to make a conscious effort to do the right thing, while for a guy like Landry, executing at the wr position is second nature to him, there's no thinking in his game, just doing, and it's very evident. He's got that innate feel for the wr position. It's not quantifiable but it's very noticeable on tape. The confidence he has in himself to go snag the ball when he knows he's gonna take a nice shot, like he doesn give a shit he just wants that ball, the way he turns upfield after the catch, like he just plays like he owns the goddamn place. It's such an under-discussed part of a WRs game, but perhaps one of the most important.

That’s def a strong suit of his game and after looking back on the tape, he plays bigger then people believe. I’ve lightened up to him a ton and while the 10.9 YPC are an issue to me, I think he has plenty of skill to make plays downfield. Allen Rob is still my #1 but Landry isn’t that far behind.

True but I can’t believe wink won’t at least utilise that lethal dime package pees constructed (even if he was the lb coach lol)

I would love that. Allen Robinson and DJ Moore and my two most hopeful WR additions. I would be so stoked if that happened.

Per reception. But I remember you dropping a long post about lee being literally one of the worst deep ball receivers in the league and had numbers to back it up
Good memory. Lee has been solid in the short-to-intermediate range. But the success rate of the deep throws was indeed concerning. It didn't help that Keelan Cole outproduced his career production in one season while playing with the same QB. It should be noted that Lee was doubled a couple of times, i.e. against Pittsburgh, but he also had issues on tape in single looks, where most of his deep drops came. He seemed to fight the ball after tracking it. Solid player otherwise. Landry's no deep shot artist himself, but his catch rate is roughly in the middle of the yearly average, which would've been behind Antonio Brown of all people this season. Obviously nowhere near comparing the two by any means. More so surprised about Brown. The biggest plus for Landry is the fact that he hasn't dropped a deep pass in his four year career. With respect to yards per reception, Lee has 12.7 with Landry having 10.1.

Allen Robinson is my #1 target if he’s available. But man, I’m not sure if we can go into a bidding war with teams like the 49ers and bears. Hopefully they go for Watkins or something

@RapSheet
One free agent match that’s worth watching as we get into next week: #Colts WR Donte Moncrief and the #Ravens. Baltimore is revamping its receiving corps and Moncrief should sign a nice 1-year deal. Could he be this year’s Alshon Jeffery?
I wouldn't mind this signing at all (if it happens). I don't know where Rap is getting this Moncrief-Jeffery comparison, but this could be a start (not the comparison, the signing that is). A small one, but a decent one nonetheless

Man I love the nfl offseason but free agency and the draft need to come fast because I’m too excited to wait any longer
Right?!?! Especially as we get closer to the start of free agency, it's fun to read all of the potential transactions that could happen in the first couple of days.

Again, how can we really compete with teams like the Niners who have plenty of cap space and a promising young QB at the helm?

Legal Tampering is from the 12–14th

and illegal tampering has been going on since the end of training camp last year depending on the player...
the combine is an important event for the draft but tbh its more important for the agents of free agents and gms looking into free agents

The 49ers plan on heavily pursuing Robinson and unless he's willing to take less we are not getting him, nor anyone not named the 49ers. They are prepared to give him top 3 money according to FOX Sports' Vincent Frank. With their cap space, I'd say that eliminates us and anyone else who is tight against the cap who wanted him.

It also may eliminate them from the Ridley hunt

You hear that @Sledge Hammer ?

If anyone honestly thought we’d actually be getting Robinson...come on man it’s been obvious since the beginning lol we can’t touch him

If I'm Robinson, I'd go to Shanahan's offense even for less money.

He gets to go to a ball club that’s ascending and form a connection with an ascending young franchise qb a crap ton of cap space to have other weapons too as well as draft picks to add other young tools + as you said he gets to work with Kyle shanahan
