What Would You Do if You Were Ozzie?

I hope Ozzie can draft a true leader. Just look at what J.Adams has brought to the Jets. Leadership is best shown during difficult times. They don't have it. I just don't see it in Weddle or Flacco or.... They give up way to early and don't fight through it. I think you can recognize that in interviews. If you hear them speak and how they speak, there's just something special in them.
I also hope they cut/don't extend a lot of offensive players like Wallace, Watson, Mallett, West. Ozzie also needs to put an end to failed projects earlier. (Correa, Kaufusi)
On defense I think I underestimated the loss of Orr and overrated Jefferson. But Bowser and T.Williams need to get more snaps. As of now they are hindered by all of their assignments, Pees needs to let them fly to the football. Once they got some confidence and experience they can grow with their taks. Harbs just throws too much at them. This method doesn't work for every player. Waste of a valuable year!
Amen!!

Theres no stud WRs in FA or the draft imo but we just need one or two contributors who are durable and can catch.

This is the strongest wide receiver free agent market ever. Several Wide Receivers have legit NO.1 WR skill sets. Allen Robinson has already proven it. And several Receivers are near their coming out party. But were held back by bad teams schemes coaching and even in crowded WR units with not enough opportunity. Marqise Lee was held back by some nagging injuries and fell behind Allen. Robinson and Hurns a top shelf No.2. Same with Paul Richardson who could be the most explosive WR in the league. Marqise Lee was the best player on their offense in final 6 or so games last yr. And did so with a QB that was playing bad behind a terrible offensive line. He wasn't getting but 2 seconds to get open and was doing so. Sammy Watkins has bona fide elite skills. If he can get with right team QB and system. Robinson could potentially play like the best Receiver in the league.

The ravens will not get an opportunity like this WR free agent class!! These are real Wide Receivers with legit NO.1 skill sets, young yet acclimated to the NFL. Like most rookie WRs it won't take a couple yrs for them to get up to speed. Although I would like to draft Ridley.

The offense doesn't need an average contributor. The ravens offense is so bad it has fans desperate for any help at all!! The ravens need a complete Wide Receiver!! One that stresses opponents and sets the table for the No2 and No.3 receiver options. A contributer isn't gonna take the offense to top5 and Super Bowl contenders. Nor is he gonna make his teammates better. A contributer is good once we have a legit No.1 that sets the tone, stresses defenses on consistent basis and makes his teammates better. Allen Robinson Paul Richardson and Marqise all can win on multiple levels and facets!! Ravens weapons are always one dimensional!! Robinson is 6'3 1/2 217 lbs yet runs routes like a 5'10 slot receiver. He has deep speed, is very elusive after the catch and ATTACKS THE FOOTBALL!!

We can sign Robinson, draft Nelson, WR and a second Olineman in rounds 2 and 3. And with Stanley Jensen and Yanda welcoming Nelson and a fellow rookie lineman the Oline could be top3. Jensen is getting better every week. He could be all pro caliber eventually. Robinson maclin and a legit rookie WR could have the offense elite b4 anybody realizes it. Like how fast the Rams offense exploded. And we can't discount Dixon. He could elude injury next year and explode outa nowhere. He is very similar to Hunt. I wouldn't discount him yet. Many runners returned from injury to explode on the scene like frank Gore.

With flacco at QB it dont matter if we had julio, odb and negatron

First port of call will be to sort out the coaching staff. I would not fire John Harbaugh. In his time here he’s only had one losing season (unless this becomes his second) and missed the play offs on three occasions (unless this becomes his fourth). I appreciate that it is a what have you done for me lately league, but he’s not the main problem holding back this team. Sometimes getting a fresh pair of eyes helps, and perhaps after a decade it’s time to move on, but I’d be hesitant to do so unless we are blowing it up and starting over. My preference would be to pay the dollars it requires to get Kubiak back, or hire a new OC that is fresh and can get this offense firing. With that said, John’s seat will be warm to start next season if this season ends in losing season and we miss the play offs.

In sticking with Harbaugh, I think it is worth noting that this is not the year to ditch Joe Flacco. I’m not convinced there is a franchising changing quarterback in this year’s class. There’s talent, but I see them more in the Blake Bortles category than the Andrew Luck category, or perhaps not even in the Jameis Winston category. My favourite would be Darnold, but apparently he’s going back to USC according to some. For me, I’d avoid the quarterback change at this time, though I would consider someone in the 3-5 round range to develop and see if we can find a diamond in the rough.

So my second port of call would be to fix the offense...

I like Collins, but is he a feature back? I’m not sure. If Barkley is on the board when we draft I’d grab him. If not, I’d consider Nick Chubb or Royce Freeman as options, perhaps in the second round. Any of that trio should be able to handle the lead backs role. We’ve seen what Fournette, Hunt, Cook, Gurley, and Zeke have done since coming into the league - we need to get someone that can give us that guy to ride especially with Joe at quarterback.

In the receivers room I’d love to see us bring in Jarvis Landry, but I suspect if he leaves Miami it will be because they don’t want to pay upward of Doug Baldwin money, and if he wants north of that amount we’d be wise to stay clear. He’s good, not great. I think Allen Robinson or Marqise Lee are realistic targets since the Jags can’t pay both (or shouldn’t pay both) since they’ve paid Hurns already and drafted Dede Westbrook - so I wouldn’t be against adding someone with Robinson’s skill set. Another receiver I’d be keen to add if he becomes available is Davante Adams, the Packers already pay Nelson and Cobb, so unless one of them is moved I’m not sure they’ll necessarily pay him. I guess there’s always the possibility of a trade for Martavis Bryant on a buy low one year rental, but I doubt the Steelers would want to deal with us or let us get him cheap. Anyway, if all goes well, Robinson or Adams would be a great addition and line up nicely opposite Maclin. In the draft I’d look to bring someone in, not sure who I favor at this point but there’s enough talent to get someone on day two. Ideally I’d let Wallace go and trade Perriman, and rebuild the receivers depth chart with Maclin, free agent and draft pick.

The oline needs work. I think if we can land Quenton Nelson in then first round that would be a boost to our oline. Alternatively we could look to one of the tackle prospects in the first round and add one to give us a pair of bookend tackles, then perhaps look for a guard on day two or three depending on how the draft goes for us. Though if we do add Barkley in the first, then look for O-Line help on day two and three, there’s some talent there if we do the job of finding them.

The defense isn’t my main concern at this point. We’ve got talent and if we use our 1-3 picks on offense, we can look to add to our depth chart and pick up prospects in the mid to late rounds and/or look for value free agent additions. We have talent to carry us on this side when it clicks, so we just have to make sure we don’t neglect it.

So my checklist is:

- hire a new oc
- use 1-3 picks on offense, ideally Barkley + receiver + oline (or defense), or Nelson + Chubb/Freeman + receiver (or defense)
- use free agency and try to land Robinson or Adams, Lee is an ok fall back; and to add to the depth charts on both sides with sensible value free agents
I can respect it

WRs. I’d prefer Allen Robsinson to Landry. Allen Robinson is more of an all round WRs then Landry.
I’d prefer wr to rb that high in the draft, but that’s only if Quenton Nelson or McGlinchy aren’t available. My next choice would be Ridley. I’d also give Perriman his last year on the contract for depth, as he will be cheap.
Stay away from Bryant. He’s a deep threat but he’s a one trick pony that is one mistake away from a full year suspension.
RB - I’d agree with taking Chubb in the 3rd round.

The only way I consider anything but offense in the first round is if Fitzpatrick is available.

Jags got something good going on. I doubt jags let him go off easy

Jaguars also have a few other free agents on the defensive side of the ball they might want to retain in Pusluzony and Colvin. They also have limited cap room.

There's no way in hell they're gonna be able to keep all 3.. Hell, they might not be able to keep two of em. And the best player for them between the three of them might be Colvin. In a division with Mariota and Andrew Luck they might decided to keep the CB(even though they have two very good ones already in Bouye and Ramsay)and keep Lee instead of Robinson..

I think there is a strong possibility that Robinson becomes a free agency. That said, I would not be surprised if the Jaguars prioritized Robinson either.

Robinson is by far the better wr of the two! i would think they would try hard robinson
Yep, agree he is better than Lee and I also agree he will most likely be signed. However maybe we get lucky and they decide not to sign him because if the injury. Doubt that happens, but I can dream.

That woukd be great if we can sign him, but he is young and NFL barley seen what he can do. Going from blake bortles to joe flacco is not something id be into

dont overestimate bortles just because the jags are doing well - bortles is still a horrible qb - he's improved over the last month but partly because teams are trying to take away the run and therefore giving him fewer dbs in coverage to negotiate and read

im calling both of them terrible. Its worded wrong but thats what i meant lol.

I could see them going with Lee as the cheaper option so they can use that money to keep their defensive players or invest in the o-line to help fournette. It won't be a popular move but since Fournette is the primary guy of their offense then investing in their o-line with the money they would have used on Robinson isn't a bad idea.

At this point?
1. I'd fire Harbaugh and send Marty and Dean packing.. We can keep everyone else though. Harbaugh will find a job elsewhere but it's just not working here anymore.. Fuck it. Send all three to the college world. My Buffalos could use a real coach and Harbaugh would EXCEL as a coach in college. Likely be a damn good recruiter and a good manager of younger men. Kind of like his brother
2. I'd hire Teryl Austin. I know that this will make a lot of you flip shit, but it makes the most amount of sense. Very good defensive mind, familiar with the organization, knows how to utilize elite talent. We have a lot of really promising young talent on the defense. Brining in Austin to be the HC is an honest no-brainer.
3. Hire Gary Kubiak. This would make our coaching staff among the best in the game. Kubiak loved it here, knows Flacco, he's fixed him before. He can do it again. Yes.. I'd keep Roman too. From my understanding Roman's scheme does include zone concepts in as well. Adding in Kubiak's stretch zone with the power scheme could give Kubiak a competitive edge he hadn't have had previously. and @purplepittabread88 the good thing about Stanley, Yanda, Jensen, and Howard is that they all have had positive experiences in zone blocking offenses. They'd continue to excel is my point, and keeping both would allow the olines higher level of play to be kept in tact.
4. Offseason wise. Resign Ryan Jensen. Should not be too expense.
5. Extend Jimmy. He's taken paycuts the last two seasons, and even with his excellent play, he is making way too much money.
6. Extend CJ Mosley. Backloaded stuff. You know the drill. Open up some cap room.
7. Sign Allen Robinson. I still see Maclin as more of a #1.. Especially in a Kubiak Offense. But Robinson would also fit in like a glove. We could use a guy like that.
8. DRAFT OFFENSE. "But Flacco sucks. why aren't we gonna find a QB". Because we can't. This QB class upon reevaluation suddenly takes a massive hit when Darnold withdraws from the equation. Rosen is the only one here with starting potential in year one. And we are contractually stuck to Flacco for one more season. Give him a good supporting cast and the chance to turn it around. 2019 does not look like a terrible year for QBs either. If Flacco does not redeem himself in 2018(a real possibility), that's when you get a QB.

This offseason needs to be dedicated to getting a better supporting cast in play and establishing an offensive identity. It's very doable. Sure, I added a defensive minded coach, but I think that's where the team is headed direction wise. A good idea given that the league has become more offensively oriented. Having a good defense has become even more important than before. Hiring Kubiak serves a double purpose. Even if he decides to bail again, he would likely rub off on Roman in a positive light and he'd be the most likely person to help Flacco have a career revival of sorts.

Sure, we are all pissed with Joe. Myself included, and those who are not holding him accountable at all need an honest to god reality check. But our supporting cast clearly needs an upgrade. Even if Flacco cannot redeem himself in 2018, I don't want a rookie coming here with what we have. For the sake of Flacco, and the future Qb, we need to establish ourselves with a good supporting cast.

Our offseason priorities player wise need to be.

1. Oline. They're playing well now, but 2/3 of the guys are 30+ and one of them is a key free agent. We need to find Yanda's replacement, keep Hurst and Jensen, possibly draft a developmental RT.. And for the love of god, get us a real LG. Hurst has been playing well as of now, but I highly doubt he keeps it up. He's still had his moments of pure shit this season. And LEWIS WAS NEVER GOOD AT GUARD. Solid pass blocker, shit run blocker. Both the eye test and PFF back this claim up. I'm convinced Harbaugh keeping him at LG has ruined the guy. Was a more promising RT imho. Keep the core intact(Yanda, Stanley, Jensen), and find ourselves a real LG and we are talking about a potentially elite oline.

2. Wide reciever- Obvious. Maclin is a #1. But Wallace is a one trick pony, and I'm convinced Perriman is never gonna develop into that #1 WR. We need more here. Another #1 WR to potentially grow with a new QB is a must. Drafting a wide reciever in the first round should not only be a possibility, but potential priority.

3. Tight End. I like Maxx. He makes plays when he's healthy.. He's never healthy. Crockett was a solid playmaker when he was healthy.. He's never healthy. Boyle is a good player when he's not suspended. He's a massive risk for a suspension. Point is.. "Ozzie sucks at drafting TEs" is an invalid claim. Not his fault that these guys are injury prone/morons. This is a good TE class. Let's bring in one of these guys(hell, I'd be okay with bringing in two of them).

4. Backup QB. Mallet isn't a good backup either. Getting a Luke Falk in the bottom end of round three or the top of round four could be a good football move for us. A guy who could potentially develop into a starter.

You know how I feel about firing Harbaugh, but assuming we do, I agree with the Teryl Austin hire. That being said, it’s up to the coach to bring in the staff and he may keep Roman as OC. If he were to being in Kubiak, I highly doubt he keeps Roman. Yes, Roman isn’t stuck with one offensive system, he’s pretty scheme diverse. He has WCO concepts, spread concepts, which Alex Smith flourished in. Now that being said, I don’t believe he ever had a stretch zone, which is imperative with Kubiak. Kubiak is 100% zone blocking scheme and stretch zone. Kubiak learned this system when he was backup qb in Denver and Alex Gibbs was the offensive line coach. I seriously doubt Roman and Kubiak could work together.

We absolutely have to resign Jensen and I agree he’s not going to be too expensive. Btw, he’s a better fit in this power scheme vs scrapping it for Kubiaks scheme.

We will most likely extend jimmy to lower his cap hit. He hasn’t taken a pay cut, we’ve just been able to convert some of his salary to guaranteed money which allows us to spread the cap hit over the life of the contract. We’ve done that both years of his deal.

I also agree we will extend cj with a backloaded deal. I don’t mind some escalation, but too much isn’t a great either. That being said, we do need cap space this year, so maybe make space this year and the next 4 yrs would be level.

If we can sign Robinson it would be awesome, but I’m cool with Lee as well if he is the wr the jags let go.

Yes, we need to draft offense. Wish list, Nelson, McGlinchy, Ridley, TE or another wr, qb, rb.

Joes is most likely here through the 2019 contract, although we could spread his dead cap over two seasons after the 2018 season, which would be 8m each season, it’s much easier to cut him in 2019 if that’s what we will be doing.

what we gotta do is get josh mcdaniels. brady

I see reality has hit you. This is some on point shyt right here. However, i think austin signed a extesnion early this year right?

Agreed, I would prefer Robinson over Landry because of the former's outside threat and red zone threat. He is a real play maker when he's healthy and in sync with his quarterback. I suspect the Jaguars would love to keep him but it is going to be tough for them, though it is potentially possible with their cap carryover from this season and their ability to free up cap space (e.g. cut Allen Hurns, Chris Ivory, Blake Bortles and go with a rookie quarterback or cheaper veteran?), but it would mean sacrificing other players and in that scenario Lee would likely be available.

As for Landry, he is not as well rounded as Robinson and he doesn't offer the same outside threat, however he is very durable and has proven to be a consistent presence in the Dolphins offense. Normally I wouldn't say let's go and pay a slot receiver big money but in his case I would probably make an exception. If we signed Landry as a free agent he would offer Flacco a really good safety option because he knows how to get open and make pivotal catches. At that point we could hold onto Perriman and Maclin to man the outside spots. I'd also look to add another receiver in the draft to give us the size and speed for that premier outside receiver we lack because I'm still not convinced by Perriman (perhaps he can surprise me?).

Ridley is a good shout for our first round pick. He's not got elite size, but does have speed and knows how to get open. I've seen him compared to Amari Cooper. If he can mirror his impact in the league (minus the drop catches), then he could be a good addition to this offense. I'd prefer Barkley if I had the choice between the two players but I would be happy with Ridley if he's our pick on the night if we go for a receiver.
If barkley is within arms reach im sure ozzie pulling the trigger this team. He is not gonna let this happen 3yrs in a row lol.
