Mock Central

Thank god Jalen hurts is the QB right now and its a run heavy offense. It hurts Calvin's draft stock to where hes a realistic pick for us. In a pass happy offense, I think Calvin is top 10. I see mocks where hes in the 20s and some with him even out of the first round. I think ravens win enough games to be in the teens, so lets hope Hurts don't get benched or something and Tua comes in.

not that ive been able to watch a huge amount of CFB this year but i have to say its not like tua has looked great when he's come in from what ive seen (or have i missed some important evidence)

that would almost make me nervous if that happened - i'd be like what the hell have we all missed on this guy...
but also thats the best dream ever
Well, I just remember coming to the boards and being like, "I told you the league didn't value guards that highly. We got a steal."

that would be undeniably brilliant and much more exciting than my normally incredibly realistic but incredibly mundane dreams (i sometimes wake up thinking i have to respond to a text and get in a panic because it felt so real in my dream...but like dude it was just a text why the hell a i dreaming about it???)

So, I think we have one thing working against the Quentin Nelson train- while I don't think the league values guards highly, Matt Miller said this comes second to 2013 as the worst draft in the last decade, so Nelson likely does go high.

Sadly, I haven’t watched enough tape on McGlinchy but I have watched some and I would be happy with him as well.

Really? I can see that in some ways but also it feels pretty deep as a draft even though it’s missing some top end talent

He personally actually feels like it's incredibly shallow in terms of depth.
I have to agree on the defensive side of the ball. I'd take Fitzpatrick and Landry in the first round.. And that's about it for that side of the ball from what I've scouted. Harrison isn't bad neither.

But with the offensive positions we need the most... It's actually a rock solid class across the board. Especially at RB, and the oline as a whole. WR isn't bad neither and I'd argue this TE class is supremely underrated.

Roquan Smith, Arden Key, Bradley Chubb, Denzel Ward, Derwin James.

I also think this is the deepest class I've ever seen at the LB and RB position. It's pretty good at the WR position even though there's not an alpha at the top. Outside of that, yeah it's pretty underwhelming. TE class is okay.

Who's the inside linebacker for Alabama? Rashaan Evans? Christian Wilkins is a first rounder.

Matt Miller said he thinks this running back class has strength up front but is incredibly weak throughout compared to a very deep class last year.

I didn't mention Evans because I haven't studied him, but I'm currently watching the game against LSU and all I can say is OMFG. But I won't say it until I finished studying him.

Wilkins, I've said it already and I won't go back to my word: he's the most overrated prospect I've ever seen. His performance on the field is underwhelming to say the least.

And I definitely prefer this year's class to last year's. That's just me and maybe some will go back to school, but I think it's the best I've seen.

I haven’t watched Wilkins tape. Why do you say he’s overrated. I’m just curious

Well he's cery light on his feet and has good twitch but that's it. He's weak and soft like I've rarely seen, he's been burried in the run game. Haven't seen any pass rush moves, motor isn't there.
In fact if I had to play the comp game, he reminds me of a weaker Nkemdiche.

Real question is - did you scout Ridley's game vs MSST?

Miller talked to a few scouts that currently have him in their top 10 and think he'll remain their throughout the entire process.

Maybe we're watching different games or I watch more Clemson (I do watch most Clemson games...), but I really like Wilkins and think he'll fit well in an even or odd front. I don't think he's going to be that special Aaron Donald type, but I think he's safe as a prospect. As you said, light on his feet and good penetrator.

I don't start scouting prospects until the end of the season unless I watch the schools already and just off the top of my head, it feels like we have Barkley and Freeman as guaranteed first rounders and then guys like Freeman and Harris will jockey for second round consideration and then we kinda trail off. I don't know; last year just had some serious talent. Missed out on a Fournette or McCaffrey? Have Cook or Mixon. Missed out there? Have Hunt or Foreman? Still not satisfied? Have a Perine? Just some really strong depth there through the middle rounds.

Yeah I read it as well, and I would agree. Like I said this summer, he looks like what we wanted Correa to be.

I watch Clemson a good bunch and I just don't see it with him.

This year you have Barkley and Guice in the first, then Jones II and Harris on the cusp, then Penny, then you pick between Freeman, Bo, Wadley, Love, Michel, Chubb, Weber (very underrated), Adams... and even after that you can have guys like Kelly or Ballage or Gaskin... And I'm sure I forgot some guys.

Like I said, I haven't watched a whole lot yet, but when you have guys like Joe Mixon, Kamara, and Freeman, all considered fringe first rounders, going in round 2 or 3, especially late, you have an absurdly deep running back class. I don't think this is one we can stack up to just any draft. This is like 2014 for receivers.
