The Good, the Bad, and the Great: Week 11 Edition

which is crazy given that we won the turnover battle 5:1 and had 2/3 4th down stuffs as well... with those defensive figures our offence should have been dominating TOP
Yeah, we should have put up at least 40 something. lol I hope Ronnie gets back this week, the O line play was pathetic.

we also didnt scheme enough help to hurst's side which made little sense
add to that the fact that howard seemed to get beat around the edge quickly too and it was a recipe for a bad game

Yeah, I don't know if the O line situation is limiting the playbook or what, but there have been glimpses of effectiveness here and there, followed by conservative predictability. Maybe they let the monster off the leash soon.
See @rossihunter2 's post for reply. We run play action: guys are open and Joe has time (Ben Watson's catch and run was also a result of that). What to do after that? Eh, Shotgun seems like a great idea.

and here you all go:

the timmy williams gif you all needed to see - he's rushing against the right tackle

it's like someone else scripted the first 5-6 plays of the first offensive drive and then they gave the keys back to marty and he went back to doing what he's been doing all season

i saw something i really liked yesterday on 1 snap in particular, and with the help of filmstudy's article this morning i confirmed it

Q3: 6:26 on the clock (at 1:05:50) in the video below, timmy williams crushed the right tackle around the edge for maybe the most conventional and awesome outside rush ive seen from any ravens player all year - it was menacing and he hit hundley hard but the way he used his hands and bent the edge was, in 1 rush, everything that a lot of us hoped he could be after watching all the college tape this offseason

now he's shown he can do it, i want to see him do it over and over again - he got 19 snaps this latest game which is more than i was expecting and the more snaps he gets the more he's going to improve and the more we'll get to see edge pressure like that - it's exciting seeing a flat out dominant guy who so many of us loved coming out of college show those same skills in the nfl

enjoy...

One or two plays before that, he doesn't get a pressure per se, but he tosses the RT around in a very impressive way.

Reminds me of Trestman, when we always had good opening drives (WAS, DAL for example) and then completely shift to predictable, weak ass play calling

I'm feeling pretty encouraged after yesterday. Yeah the offense was garbage, but with Hurst and Bowanko on the left side of the line, they performed about as well as anyone could have expected. Hard to point to any stand out performances, but hopefully with Stanley back again, they can start to hit their stride.

The defense was lights out again and it's looking like Humphrey may be starting over Carr next week. It feels really good to see so many of the recent defensive draft picks (Judon, ZDS, Henry, Humphrey, Canady, Bowser and even Clark) start to make an impact.

The ST unit was killing it all day yesterday. Koch put on an all-pro performance and was moronically robbed of possibly the greatest placed punt in NFL history.

Overall, keeping things in perspective, things aren't terrible. The Ravens have a laughably easy schedule and their competition in the wild card race (Bills, Raiders specifically) has looked pretty horrible recently. There are obviously no guarantees, but they are in the driver's seat right now and the team seems united and focused. I'm excited to see how the next couple weeks go.

Should be our obvious passing down pass rusher and 4th quarter closer. You tell him, “see QB, kill QB.” Why is this so hard.

i remember during the offseason i had timmy williams as a 1st round talent and it was between him and derek barnett for the player with the most fun film that i would always go back and watch

i cant help but keep watching this gif over and over - we just havent had a guy on the ravens who can bend the edge like that for a while

I was shocked that we got him in the 3rd round. Thought we would have to take him in the 2nd to even have a chance.

Yeah, I liked Barnett, TWill and Lawson a lot. Had some interest in Watt as well. I certainly hope TWill turns out better than Lawson and Watt do to the others being in our division.

Howard needed help as badly as Hurst. Was practically seated on his butt by bull rush more than once.

Watt could be a star in the league.....pretty seasoned looking and well rounded backer already.
