2022 General Draft Thoughts

yep, fine by me. maybe even a mid round running back also.
I would strongly oppose a mid-round running back. It seems like anytime we take one it ends up like our Michigan players. Taliaferro, buck allen, justice hill, kenneth dixon, bernard pierce, all wasted picks since we seem to be just fine finding undrafted talent at that position.

Kenneth Dixon would have been fine if injuries didn't derail him, but I'd agree we are good with undrafted and next year we will have JK and Edwards back and Ty'Son Williams may be able to be our #3.

As much as I feel the need to hammer tf out of the OL with draft picks, I feel like the pass rush is so close to being “there” and this might be a good year to go in on it.

id love to land Adam Anderson from GA, an undersized pass rush specialist, he’s probably never gonna develop beyond that, but man what he offers as a speed rusher off the edge looks so goddamn good. If we want to be able to continue beating teams like the chiefs, that would be a great start

so he's Ngakoue? I think that failed experiment pretty much took us out of the running for any more undersized EDGEs.

It’s a lot of fun, I watched half a game tonight and my eyes are firing all over the screen picking up all these players in their front seven. Hard to focus on the guy you’re watching because guys jump off the screen left and right

Lecitus Smith was born to play G for Lamar Jackson’s offense. He is a well built, hyper aggressive, controlled athlete playing guard, he is stellar on combo blocks, pulls, and second level blocks.

he has very fun tape for an OL, he is so controlled and precise with all of his movements in space and eats up a lot of ground quickly and has an innate ability to position himself ideally to shield off defenders and continue moving forward with the play to potentially bring more blocks. Great feet, quick hands, I haven’t dug deep enough and haven’t seen coaches film to get a gauge on his technical skill such as hand placement and timing, but he’s got some mitts to work with at the very least

Daniel Faalele RT Minnesota looks like a really interesting player to me. HUGE guy at 6'9'' around 375 lbs however he carries the weight decently and has pretty good technique for a guy that size. If we keep Villaneuva next year I wouldn't mind drafting him early and having him learn from another huge tackle.

2 guys on that line im really interested in already despite not doing a ton of study

seen a lot of stuff about faalele already but also the C John Michael Schmitz looks like something too

I really think Faalele can play at a lighter weight, like 350, and still be effective. From the tape I watched of him vs Ohio st. he has very strong hands and once he gets them on you its hard to shed them. Dropping a little weight will allow him to better maneuver when Lamar dances in the pocket.

i havent seen enough to say anything about his hands or technique but he's a very nimble and light-footed athlete at that size - also nice flexibility

from a physical and athletic standpoint he's pretty unprecedented

Here's the only tape I've watched thus far. He was subbed out more in the second half which makes me wonder if he has stamina issues, which would be understandable at that size, but other than that the only thing I would have liked to see more of is leg drive.

some leverage issues in the running game and hand placement is inconsistent (at best lol) but the raw tools are incredible and was just reading up on how new he is to the game

will be really interesting to see how he improves through the season

Just seen a mini cutup of tyler linderbaum - i know he's sub-300lbs but dude looks like a freakshow

I could get behind that, keep Bozeman but move him back to LG and then have Linderbaum at C. We've then got some great depth/competition at RG once Zeitler leaves. Got to think it would take a high pick to snag him, but if it pans out would add a new dangerous element to the interior and fortify it for years.

obviously this is just talking prospects - things will be much clearer strategy-wise after the end of the season and free agency

and worth pointing out that Bozeman has probably been the most consistent raven at any position through the first 3 weeks - maybe calais campbell can fight over that title with him

He’s gotta develop some but he would enter the league as the most physically gifted OT in the league, he instantly nullifies any defender he gets his hands on, and he moves shockingly well and he uses his length very well too.
