2022 General Draft Thoughts

The closer we get to the draft, im doing 2 things with my grading simultaneously

1) watching new prospects - ive been a bit slow this year so still have absolutely tons of guys to get to
2) solidifying how i feel about the top 14 (and more importantly... are there 14 guys id want at 14)

the 2nd point is a little complicated because to me there's 11 guys i feel really strongly about (that's been listed over and over) but it's highly possible or even probably that they may all be gone by the time we pick - so the challenge the last week or so was about whether i can find a level of comfort with any of the next guys that i feel confident in them at 14

and there's 2 guys at this point that id be really happy if we brought them to the ravens at 14 who arent in that initial 11

that's right ive finally got to a point of comfort with Davis that im on the train properly now lol

i am basically 100% confident that 1 of those 13 prospects will be there at 14 because it only takes 1 QB or 1 non-drake london WR to have a guy i really like available at 14

it's not that im giving these 2 guys a bigger grade than they had, it's more that im comfortable with the grade and the fit as the next guys in the next tier

wouldnt it be funny if the ravens have been the instigators of all these rumours about effort and stiffness to get him to fall lol - feeding that info to their former scout DJ to put KT on blast on the broadcast and help get him to drop right into their laps

feels unlikely but also wouldnt put it past them lol

Never thought of it that way lol. I do find it funny how DJ has talked about KT AND Hamilton as potential fallers lmao. Maybe he’s doing us a solid

no chance he's getting 5
think technically if they call him a DL then he cant wear a number under 50 but maybe they could swing it that he's a LB...
i think keeping a single-digit could be cool... 1, 3 or 7 are the only ones available - 1 would be brave lol but 3 or 7 would be clean

but if we're going over 50 and you wanna keep up the 5 then your only real options (without looking weird) are 55... which im not even sure the ravens would let him take and 95 which is currently derek wolfe's

sidenote: i wonder whether michael pierce is gonna try and get his old 97 back (probably wouldnt be hard given it's only aaron crawford who's got it) or whether he'll wear the 58 he had at minnesota

i think it would be a falling out of the top 10 type thing - if we go up idk that we'd want to give up the picks that it would take to get up to 8 or 9 (might take a 3 and a 4 or even more)

more likely (especially if there's other talents dropping too and we dont feel the need to go up and guarantee the last guy on our board) maybe we have a feeling he's falling to 14

if he gets past the jets at 10 it seems unlikely that washington would spend yet another 1st rounder on EDGE/DL, the vikings might take him but they have significant needs elsewhere especially at corner and WR, texans may have gone OT early and then would be a threat at 13 but also could just as likely have already taken one of the EDGEs at 3

so maybe if we're trading up it's just going up a couple of picks and moving back with the vikings to get ahead of the texans - which might cost a late 3 but maybe also the vikings would be ok taking a 4 to move back only a couple of spots
 
in the past when the ravens have been up this high, they've taken advantage of the NFL overthinking things for various reasons (effort concerns, athletic testing concerns)

the 3 guys who may fit that bill this year:
Kayvon Thibodeaux (supposed effort concerns)
Derek Stingley (effort and injury concerns)
Kyle Hamilton (testing and positional value)

EDC said in his post-season presser that he already knew the 3 guys who they'd likely be picking one of if they stick at 14... if he had those 3 names then and we do end up picking one of them the he's a legit fortune teller lol - i dont think id have thought we'd have a chance in hell to be anywhere near those guys back then and now it seems reasonable that we might have a chance at any one of them
