2022 General Draft Thoughts

Board fell nicely for my 1st 3 picks. Wanted to double dip on CBs, but can’t complain.

but also lol - cant believe i never saw that rep before - it's funny because that kind of drive block and finish is like 2 of the things i thought his game was inconsistently missing i.e. creating movement at the point of attack in the running game and a general lack of nastiness/physicality

this play is exactly what he's missing too often lol

I don't love Penning at 14 and understanding he is getting over hyped but I really do like my linemen nasty and emotional. Him and Ryan Jensen would lead the league in roughness calls but 4th and 1 against a rival with the game on the line, that is a dream combo

if we're purely talking 4th and 1... then im taking daniel faalele instead lol

ive got the same grade right now on penning that i had on dillon radunz and sam cosmi last year who went 51st and 53rd respectively - i think he goes earlier than that (and tbh i think they should have gone earlier than that too) but that's the sort of grade ive got on him

scheme and philosophy is going to massively govern where certain players fit on some boards
and to that extent i kind of disagree with this anyway

not sure Linderbaum is going to be number 1 on every team's boards at IOL - teams that play lots of big 0techs in division and don't run zone-based running schemes are probably going to have him a lot lower on the board and maybe behind kenyon green and zion johnson... but a zone team that doesnt face a ton of massive nose tackles on their year-on-year schedule might have him as the top OL (not just IOL) in the class in grade terms

and while it's funny to just put Matt Araiza as the top punter in the class - ive seen some talk about jordan stout (from penn state) as the best punter in the class - and also seen some mention of a guy called ryan stonehouse who ive not come across before

which really leaves safety as the only clear-cut lol

The hilarious part is walker being a 2nd and penning going 14th

itll be like when the raiders reached for leatherwood 1st round and Moehrig fell to them 2nd round. They could’ve switched those 2 players around and nobody would’ve noticed.
