2022 General Draft Thoughts

wtf is that drill and who is making them run it lol?
dont they normally get coaches from actual nfl teams to run these drills for these prospects normally? why isnt there an OL coach from a pro team running these workouts lol... and if there is - why are they still an OL coach for a pro team?

Lol no idea. But it’s funny af

Here's the latest one I saw. This guy has Hamilton going one overall lol. This should just be dismissed. But there were others too I've seen a few days ago.

coming back to this because ive just seen this tweet by the author of this mock:

i dont get how people who are paid to watch football and write about it can be completely unable to understand a play
like who in their right mind thinks that KT didnt just absolutely dominate Lucas here for the TFL???

Yeah that's pretty insane

Exciting!! Are you thinking of making a longer post about him?

i wasnt planning on but in terms of the basics:

he's tall, he's physical, he's explosive, he shouldnt be as fluid as he is - he has an advanced understanding of leverage and route-running attacking leverage and blind-spots to separate at all points in the route... off the release, through the stem, at the break and at the catch-point

on top of all that he's got surprising ability after the catch for someone his size - able to make defenders miss in space but also able to run through and over defenders with the ball in his hands

he uses his body so well at the catch-point - uses the entirety of his length at the catch-point, comes back to the ball, high-points, great hands and protects the ball through the catch

he lacks elite foot-speed to win with pure speed downfield but he's 100% a vertical threat and consistently defeats guys off the release or with his route to win vertically - that's really to me the only "flaw" in his game - he'll struggle to separate on straight up deep shots if it's a race

and honestly i dont care that he's not a burner because he's still got outrageous athleticism and size and he separates and for me separation is always the most important thing (it's why i normally fall in love with more advanced route runners every year) - but what's special about london, to me, is that he separates at all points in the route including at the catch-point and his skillset at the catch-point is elite (think about how chase kills guys even when you think he might be covered)

wish he was a better blocker but he's not unwilling

in the modern nfl the 2 most important questions you have to answer as a receiver prospect are, to my mind:
Can you separate?
Can you make plays after the catch?

I’m applying at TDN

The draft happens about 2 weeks later than it should. I’m exhausted of draft shit by the time it rolls around, it almost kills my hype

Thanks for this. I haven't really watched any of the receivers in depth because I never thought we'd be having this conversation. I'm gonna go watch him a bunch now.

Still believe it's likely a trade down rather than a straight London pick at 14 but it always takes 2 to tango.

@rossihunter2 So this is completely self admittedly analysis only from an 11 minute career highlight video of London. I am gonna go and actually start watching the games now, but I wanted to get a sense of him. Here's what I saw.

Very tall
Body type is very lean honestly looking kinda frail
Plays big but at the same time can be totally rocked by some defensive players
Great 50 50 ball guy
Definitely lacks breakaway speed
Will get you at least 5 yards YAC on every play though.
Was always open even when he wasnt

To me he looks like a taller, frailer, slower, and a little bit clunkier as a runner Jamar Chase. Don't ask me why but I have the feeling this guy if he lives up to his potential could be a top 5 receiver for many years to come, but something in my mind while watching him kept telling me I see a big bust potential with him too. I can't quite quantify exactly why and I'm gonna go watch actual tape, but there was just something that didn't feel exactly right.

I truly hope he goes before us but I agree with @UPennChem. I’ve always been down on him as I don’t think he can separate from NFL corners. It’s possible I’m scared from loving JJ Arcega Whiteside as a prospect a few years ago lol

I don’t think the two are comparable, London is a beast with the ball in his hands and is way sharper in his breaks and his release is top tier. JJAW to me was a late first jumpball guy who I was very high on, London is more mike evans like to me
