‘Wink’ is the New Defensive Coordinator

Cause we are in complete cap hell and nothing is going to change. It is really ugly to look at rn. Pierce will demand the same contract as Williams, maybe more. Judon, Mosley, Willie, and the possibility to resign Suggs is just way too much money in the front 7. It just doesn't seem like something we would do. We need some damn good drafts.

We actually in great situation with Pierce. Low money next year. Then RFA next year where we probally put minimum 2nd rd tender so if somebody does swipe him we get their 2nd rdr or we keep him at affordable value. If we keep him for that 2nd yr then he become FA into 3rd yr and goes into comp pick pool or we give him long term deal.

So after doing more research...

I've grown more content with the idea. Supposedly he was an agressive coordinator in Denver.. Which most of y'all should like. There's a problem with being an agressive coordinator though: you need fucking talent to do that or else you're going to get destroyed. We have it in spades.

Before you say, "lack of elite talent".. Yeah.. We lack a JJ Watt. But we have depth across the board that other teams would be jelous to have. A few players on the defense had some down years but I have a feeling that guys like CJ Mosley and Weddle, and Tony Jefferson bounce back. We have a ton of potential on the defensive side of the ball and I honestly cannot wait to see how he uses people like Bowser who could be a Jamie Collins type piece on the defensive side of the ball.

Pees misused a lot of players. Defense is more tailored to be agressive here. We're faster now and we have depth in the secondary that maybe only 4 teams can match. Depending on how he uses the secondary, we could be looking at an upgrade.

Also.. To the people saying this is a Harbaugh thing.. Shut up. Seriously? We've been doing this shit LONG BEFORE he got here. Sometimes it works out(Rex Ryan, Chuck Pagano), sometimes it fails horribly(Matitson) and sometimes it's somewhere in the middle(Pees). For all we know, Wink is the next defensive stud coordinator we have.

I would've preferred an outside hire. But overall this could pay out in spades for us.

Please use Tim Williams and Bowser

Perhaps it wouldn't make sense for him to publicly say it, but I would love to know what exactly Wink would do differently compared to Pees.

Better rotation of personel would be a good start. I would like to see Ricard used on d a little more too especially if you gonna deactivate 2 of our dlinemen every game.

I would love to know that too. I admit to not being pleased with the promotion - I wanted Pagano because he took Mattison's passive defense that would cling on for dear life at the end of games (sound familiar?) into an aggressive, pop you in the chops kind of D. As long as Wink is as aggressive as some to claim him to be, perhaps that will work out and we'll go for the kill instead of praying to not give up the winning score (which seems to always become self-fulfilling prophecy).

We have some young talent that need to be developed and I hope we see progress there next year. Perhaps some are lost causes (Correa/Kafusi) but Wormley, WIlliams and Bowser need to become key players in a strong defensive rotation this coming season.

The defense was opportunistic ... but they need to become more consistent and show a killer instinct when we're in a tight game. It's one thing to humiliate an opponent when we're in a lopsided blowout win ... we need to seal the deal in games where we take a lead and freaking hold it.

I wanted either Pagano, Fangio or a young blood from college, but I wasn't upset with this hire per se. If what is true about Wink, then I definitely believe that our defense will go for the kill when it's close.

I still have slight, slight hope for Kaufusi, but I'm completely done with Correa. It seems that he's gonna be a bust, but maybe Wink sees something in him to give him one last chance. If he doesn't do anything in preseason, it's over for him. One of Bowser's qualities is his versatility which is something we've seen from time to time. Williams needs to be better in the run game if he wants to see the field more, but he has shown to be an effective pass-rusher when playing. As for Wormley, unless if he got hurt, I really didn't understand why he didn't play as much.

Grim made a great burger analogy back in the old boards a while ago. I think Wink is a Wendy's burger. It's not great but I'll settle for it and while I would love to have that BurgerFi(Fangio) or Shake Shack burger(Pagano), due to distance, I won't have the chance to get either so I'm fine for Wendy's for the time being.

I don't think we do know whether Wink is really Wendy's... He had little to no talent to work with in Denver. I like this analogy too... But I don't think we can make it yet.

I was completely unimpressed with Shake Shack burgers.

We don't know what he is but we had to settle for him. We wanted Pagano but he wasn't interested. I'm sure we wanted Fangio as well but he wasn't going anywhere. Wink was pretty much our only option so to me he's a Wendy's burger. He could turn out to be a BurgerFi or Shake Shack burger though.

Really? I love their bacon cheese burger, sadly there's not one near me because if so they could have all my money.

I love food.
