The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Week 14 Edition

I think we need to move on from jimmy smith TBH. he's 30 and this is not an injury which cornerbacks recover well from.
I don’t think we should move on but he’s just not reliable to me. I just don’t think you can depend on him. I wouldn’t be upset if a stud CB manage to fall to us in the 1st and we took him.

Or if you want a patchup job that actualy has quality ( ie not carr) get prince amukamara for a year.

I don’t think Tavon can be a very effective outside CB. His issues where primarily there and he struggled against physical WRs. He’s good in the slot but our issue is our coverage in the deep sideline and that is lately due to Carr and the lack of a safety there.

eh, it is what it is. We have a horrible group of WRs and an anemic pass rush. Pretty remarkable that we did as well as we did. should have won.

Agreed!

Well prepared to be disappointing because Fitzpatrick isn't falling to us.

I do think that Humphrey will be ready to take on the #1 corner role after a full offseason of development. He's further along in his development than I anticipated and has skills. Though I do tend to agree that another CB is needed.

I personally thought he was solid on the outside. I do know that he rarely played in the slot. He was out LCB for the majority of his time on the field. In fact, he only played 17.6% of the snaps inside. The two big plays that come to mind were the PDs on Tyler Eifert and Dorian Green-Beckham on fade routes in the red zone while in single coverage.

Prince Amukamara >>>>>>>> carr
He is the kind of CB that has the feet to match AB too. Sign him for a 1 year deal. Still only 28

I wouldn't object to that at all.
Too bad we have no cap room. Granted, we can make some. We usually find a way

IN a nutshell we need

1: Andrew Norwell ( quenton nelson will be gone by the time we pick) resign jensen.
2: A FA WR
3: Best Pass rushing option available in the first round
2nd round: ILB (best cover guy available)
3rd: TE
3rd comp: Corner

1. Given the oline depth in the upcoming draft, and Ozzie's inability to draft WRs. I'd say a bigger priority is getting the FA WR. I think Billy Price could be a damn good guard at the NFL level. Not as good as Nelson, but an above average starter. Give that person a big ass payday. I think it'd be a much better idea to tackle OL in round one. Hell, if we are being totally honest I'd rather us go get a FA WR(Allen Robinson) and draft say a Courtland Sutton in round one whilst keeping Maclin. Boom, threatening WR corps. Get a Billy Price in say round two. Norwell isn't going to happen and he's more or less the only good guard. Jensen needs to be resigned.

2. Not a good pass rushing class. Don't really like any of these guys. I still think Williams is at worst going to be a good situational pass rusher(if we fucking used him. He's got pass rushing moves and is a good athlete and at times this season, it has showed. Sucks as a run defender though).

3. I'd take a TE in rounds 2 or 3 so I don't disagree. This TE class is actually pretty good. Resign Watson for a year and let a Mark Andrews or Gesicki play in a limited red zone role.

4. I'd rather repurpose FA resources to another CB tbh. They take awhile to develop usually.

Honestly after watching Mosley get killed.. I think it might be nice to get a great coverage linebacker.

We have a guy who can do that... We just don't fucking use him.. Like at all.

And fwiw. Mosley is clearly struggling with something. He made significant strides in coverage last season and it showed. He's regressed, but I think it's clear that something is wrong

I hate to say it, but Weddle and Jefferson are not veteran players. Ozzie brought them in to make plays in big and important games. Both failed (Weddle 2x against the Steelers & the Pats). Pees hasn't used them to their strengths, but tackling seems to be an issue for both of them. Weddle gets caught too often. Ben always looks for Brown in crucial moments. You can't gamble if you're not fast enough.

I would love to know how many of the 500 offensive yards came from Antonio Brown.
How many times he converted on third and long.
If we took Brown out James became a play maker. If we took James out then Brown would do what he has always done.

There was just too many superior quality targets for our weakened thinned secondary.

Still upset. This loss is on Pees. Carr was abused all game and on 3rd and 14 and he is on AB alone really.... I will say it again ever since Pees has been the DC we have given up so many 3rd and longs. We have all this "supposed" talent on the D and we suck. Humphrey did good so we can't blame this on losing Jimmy.

The best thing is that Joe Flacco looks like he's finally back to form. Obviously at his best he's still not perfect , that interception at the beginning was
Awful and if not for Wallace there might have been a couple more. But he's finally showing confidence, accuracy and mobility in the pocket like the Joe of old. Too bad our defense is garbage.

Humph played extremely well. He locked his side down as much as Jimmy did
it was his best game, he even turned his head early to look for the throws. still his side wasn't targeted much. hopefully it wasn't a fluke.

2 years ago we have jimmy smith in our late game vs the steelers, we have no flacco and a ton of other injuries, but we hve jimmy, and in a totally lost season we beat the steelers with Ryan mallett.

Last year, our offense comes alive for the steelers game but jimmy being out dooms us and we miss the playoffs because of it.

Fast forward, our offense is the 31st in the league, we have a breakout game and put up 40, we have another breakout game and put up 38 in Pittsburgh, but jimmy goes down the week prior and our season is lost again because of one player.

How is it that we can't field 2 good performing units? When one unit heats up the other has a crippling injury. I can't fucking stand this team man.

they are not the same team without Shazier and that and catching them a little fat and happy I thought we would win this one. Went to bed with a 11 point lead and I don't blame the team. I blame the fans here for letting me down.

I left it in your hands and you blew that game!

Mosley looked like he didn't wanna be out there. He would get beat and get up and hang his head and go right back to getting beat again.
