The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Week 14 Edition

Thanks, Ozzie, for bulking up the defense this offseason so the Steelers wont be able to score on us at will. Oh wait.

If I'm Ozzie I'm going out this offseason and offering to pay Allen Robinson and/or Jimmy Graham and/or Jarvis Landry a top dollar contract. WR corps needs a few upgrades.
I can admit that I'm wrong. Maclin isn't a #1. We need a #1.
Oh this absolutely isn’t the Jeremy Maclin from a few years ago. Fuck this Jeremy Maclin. I’m officially done with him.

Oh I’m not mad at Ozzie either. I liked this off-season. I liked the draft. But it’s not working right now as it was expected.
Jimmy Smith and Tavon going down have a lot to do with it tbf. Those two are in and we are looking at a completely different defense.

Well I think the good thing is Joe Flacco and this offense took a solid step forward this week, despite some terrible play calling in the 4th by the real MVP Marty Mornenwhig... threw the ball when we should have run clock leaving the steelers with plenty of time to work with. Alex Collins looks like a special talent in this league, and our defense held up well before getting tired out and as well as horrible play calling on D... Safety blitz after safety blitz against one of the smartest QBs in the league and not even generating much pressure on them.

Hats off the Squeelers tho that trio of Ben Bell and Brown is really the only true threat to the Pat's in the AFC. As for us... Not this year. We need some big changes and I think it starts with firing Marty Mornenwhig. This offense aside from the rush game has been well below mediocre. New system new WRs and a reliable TE and more pass blockers will work wonders for getting our offense on the rise. Defense is always pretty solid but we could use about 5 more CBS and maybe a safety that can cover because Weddle and Jefferson obviously can not, oh and cut Weddle, dude is a INT grabber and that's it... Dude is the MVP of missed tackles and blown coverage.

As for our team I think my biggest take away this year is that we need to do better in the offseason at drafting and signing players, the lopsided defensive approach every offseason has to stop. I get BPA and all but of all the defensive players we have drafted /signed we still have generally breakable units, solid but definitely breakable and given the sacrifice to the offensive side of the ball its a double edged sword. And still CB might once again be a top need this offseason, but we are so desperate for WR/TE and OL it's not even funny.

3 easy games left which should give us hope for a postseason, but there is no doubt we are unprepared for an extended playoff run.

Collins and Humphrey only players of note for me.

Marty u can fuck off harder than pees. At least pees has won us more than one game.

Carr needs to go in the offseason

Jimmy Smith and Tavon going down have a lot to do with it tbf. Those two are in and we are looking at a completely different defense.

what i dont get is carr was getting beaten up and down all day and we never even considered moving canady to LCB and bringing jaylen hill into the slot (even if just to give carr a breather if not to actually bench him)

I'll put it to you all this way.

If we had an Aaron Donald or a JJ watt on this D line, would have we won this game?

Find them ozzie. trade your precious 2nd rounders in the first if need be.

CJ’s performances as of late have really been pissing me off. Where is the top 5 LB that we thought we had? Maybe he misses his buddy Zach Orr next to him.

Honestly did y'all not see that coming as soon as they drove down the field for that fg early in the 4th? I saw it then and there, the defense let up and the offense came out for a punt.

with all due respect..tavon young and brent urban aint doing squat in those drives.

tavon young is - he played well against the steelers receivers last year including antonio brown (playing in that same outside corner role that brandon carr was in and got beaten in)
and brent urban reduces the snap counts of other dlinemen so they arent gassed on the final drive

I was fairly upset with the two drives offensively at the end when we were overly conservative on one and the overly aggressive on the other. There were a multitude of miscues, i.e. two potential INTs that were ripped out by Wallace, the INT, Maclin's last two targets and the sack-fumble that should've been thrown away. However, on a positive note, our general play-calling, execution, and confidence have been notably better offensively in the last two games. So there is some good with the bad. Also thankful that this wasn't an absolute must-win. It obviously would've been better had we won and given ourselves some breathing room. But at least we have a winnable stretch that could place up in the postseason.
