The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Week 14 Edition

Pitsburgh clinched ......man still can't believe we gave that one away.
we were down a turnover on the road and played them to a standoff
still you can't give up 500 yards passing in this league and think you're a playoff team.

collingsmouth was paying homage to Ozze when we were up those 11 points and the man just looks worn out to me. on national t.v. he looked all used up. he can't even draft defense any more and collinsmouth was in worship mode.

we gotta change this up boys. we gotta move in modern blood with energy and quick wit

You guys still blaming this on Carr? Or can we address the fact that somebody thought it was a good idea to leave him on an island with Brown without safety help. That is the real story

The question then becomes do we rush 4 and still give Ben time or send pressure and hope they can get there?

Players have to execute at some point.

Carr is a starting cornerback in the league. He shouldn't give up 200+ yards to a receiver period. Sure he should of had some safety help on a few of the plays but he let AB run right by him no matter what. He did not put himself in a good position to succeed. A rookie is showing why he is more valuable than him right now.

brandon carr has lost his speed. At Kansas city he was a different player.

I wanted prince amukamara instead of carr this off season. simply more talented and younger. ( pretty cheap too).

All those defensive picks in the draft and this is what we got. A record amount of yards allowed , more than any other game in Ravens franchise history.
Pathetic.

Offensively we played a very good game. Sure it would have been great to come away with a win, but If we can continue our offensive play the final three weeks and into the playoffs, we can beat anyone. The Steelers have one of the best offenses in the league and we played them toe to toe.

Good: Offense, Joe, Collins, Humphrey
Bad: Pressure, Carr

I love Pat ricard. Best FB in the league.

btw one thing about weddle which i don't like. In this sport, if you're an older player, which weddle is..you take care of yourself..i've seen enough photos ( and it's not just the ice cream) to suggest that weddle has a really shitty diet.

The Good

- Collins. Is. A. Beast. Pair him up with Dixon next year and we'll have a strong 1-2 punch. Plus, we should have a better O-line next year just by getting Yanda back and hopefully through the draft.

- Flacco is looking more comfortable out there and is starting to play a lot better. Aside from the terrible decision which led to his pick in the first, he played an efficient game and even threw a pass that could have led to a game winning FG (if Maclin remembered how to make a sideline catch).

- The offense put up 38 points. Normally this wins games...

The Bad/Ugly

- Why was Carr left alone on an island against Brown when he was getting torched all game? WHY??? Especially on critical downs....what the fuck was that shit play-calling? Either have Humph shadow Brown, because he was actually able to run with him, or double Brown; it's not rocket science. I have defended Pees, at times, but this was inexcusable. Every fucking time that Jimmy goes down, our defense turns to shit. I've had enough.

- Our pass rush is terrible. Ben had all the time in the world to throw to his myriad of receivers or just wait for Brown to get open. This should be a priority in the off-season because we can't rely on coverage sacks against the elite teams. We need pass rushers that can force the pressure immediately.

- Mosley looked slow and was a liability in coverage all night. I believe he's banged up, but why the fuck did we draft Correa and Bowser if we're not going to use them? They should have been rotated in more with Mosley being hurt.

- The offensive play-calling in the 4th quarter was BAD. We went into full conservative mode and it cost us the game. I don't understand how they could feel comfortable with any amount of lead with the way the defense was giving up chunk plays last night. All the offense had to do was continue to do what they were doing and methodically move the ball down the field. Would have been game over.

This is one of the most frustrating losses in recent memory. I expected to lose this one, but the fact that we HAD this game makes it so much worse. Pees better figure out how to call a defense without Jimmy or there's no point in even making the playoffs.

Last yrs Xmas eve game was more frustrating to me, imo.

Really? I think this one bugged me more. A team that puts up 38 points should win EVERY GAME. Almost 600 yards against this defense that was touted as one of the best. I get Jimmy Smith is out but why wouldn't Dean Pees let Humphrey shadow AB??

carr and jefferson was a terrible signing! we need versatile safties!

I expected that loss too just because we lost Jimmy. This year, we were supposed to have CB depth to withstand the inevitable Jimmy injury, but still got the same result. Plus, we spent all of those picks on defense (while completely neglecting the offense) and ended up giving up the most yards in franchise history to our biggest rival. I'm beyond livid right now.
