The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Week 14 Edition

Really? I think this one bugged me more. A team that puts up 38 points should win EVERY GAME. Almost 600 yards against this defense that was touted as one of the best. I get Jimmy Smith is out but why wouldn't Dean Pees let Humphrey shadow AB??
Yes, but last years knocked us out of the playoffs

That is true.. But this game also scares me more because the Colts, Browns, and Bengals are all itching for wins and the Ravens have not played particularly well when controlling their own destiny.

If we let this loss completely deflate us and lose out Harbaugh is fucking gone. We will not tolerate a losing season and another season of missed playoffs.

I don't think they lose all 3. But I can see them dropping one and a team like the Chargers winning out and losing out of the playoffs. Ravens need to avoid playing down to the competition like they always do.

The chargers will win the division. They won’t be a wild card

Maclin had one of the worst games I hace seen out if a Ravens WR in a long time. Running wrong routes for most of game, failing on both 2nd to last and last drives so badly that he is the sole reason that last drive was over after 1,play.

It sucks that Moore had to leave the game. I've liked what I've seen from him recently and hopefully he continues to get more opportunities on offense.

The question then becomes do we rush 4 and still give Ben time or send pressure and hope they can get there?

Players have to execute at some point.

If I am faced with an o-line as good as theirs and Brown? The answer is simple, beat me with someone else. Marlon played very well yesterday in single coverage against everyone he was matched against. Safety, SAFETY HELP OVER THE TOP WITH BROWN.
Carr is a starting cornerback in the league. He shouldn't give up 200+ yards to a receiver period. Sure he should of had some safety help on a few of the plays but he let AB run right by him no matter what. He did not put himself in a good position to succeed. A rookie is showing why he is more valuable than him right now.

So because you're a starting corner back that means you won't get man handled by one of the best receivers the league has seen? Better yet, if we face the Falcons against Julio are you going to leave Carr one on one? Are you crazy? Everybody knew the moment Jimmy went down that Carr would be tested, he is a good player but he is older now. What position could he have been in when he just can't keep up with a man that is simply faster than you

Alot of you are ignoring the fact that he had no safety help over the top, to get beat time and time again deep and for Pees to do nothing about. Also ignoring the injuries we have at CB with Jimmy Smith AND Tavon Young. You can't be serious

RB ALEX COLLINS, 88.6 OVERALL GRADE
Collins ran through and around the Pittsburgh defense, he forced ten total missed tackles and 95 of his 120 rushing yards came after contact. His only blemish was a fumble in the first half after catching a pass, other than that Collins played his best game of the season. He has now forced 30 missed tackles in the ground game, with 500 of his 825 yards coming after contact.
Fuck me lol.

Yanda coming back and the proposition of a new guard next season scare the shit out of me. Us drafting a new guard along with Yanda (which we better do damnit). Collins getting four yards before seeing a defender? Have fun with that opposing defenses!

And we should have Dixon back finally. If we can actually find a legit #1 WR then our offense could actually be scary.

Collins is 3rd on the pff elusive list, with Blount and Hunt 1 and 2

I'm not saying he shouldn't of had safety help but many times he tried to jam AB and either completely missed or AB slipped easily off of him. He wasn't putting himself in a position to succeed either. Marlon was doing just fine containing him by himself. I'm not putting all the blame on Carr I also think Pees deserves the blame for not putting his own players in a position to succeed.

I could have told you before the game that Carr had no chance against AB. That's not because Carr is horrible, it's because he's not Jimmy Smith.

He put up 10 catches 157 yards against one the best if the not THE best CB duo down in Jacksonville. What did you think would happen to Carr?

Said this last night......Funny how Carr is getting trashed but when Hopkins abused Smith a couple of weeks ago it was because “Hopkins is a beast and unstoppable”. Brown was going to get his, he’s the best there is this year.
If you need to place blame for allowing 500 yards passing it belongs with the anemic pass rush.

Ben had plenty of time even when we blitzed most of the time

I personally thought he was solid on the outside. I do know that he rarely played in the slot. He was out LCB for the majority of his time on the field. In fact, he only played 17.6% of the snaps inside. The two big plays that come to mind were the PDs on Tyler Eifert and Dorian Green-Beckham on fade routes in the red zone while in single coverage.
I am going to admit that I'm using the eye test here but against Dez Bryant he got man handled just simply on pure strength alone. Outside of that I'm going to have to look back at the film. I honestly think he is going to have issues against taller and physical WRs though.

After sleeping on it, aside from the obvious questions about the defense, the one linger concern that continues to sting is following. What on earth was Jeremy Maclin doing? He collapsed on the hit like a folding chair, with his eyes completely shut during the close up. Then he stood up, and walked it off, forcing a crucial TO to be lost. He was on the sideline waiting to substitute in one play later, meaning he either voided the tent or made the trip in record time. I despise presuming about injuries, but the entire ordeal was strange enough to legitimately wonder if he was attempting to draw a flag. Then Flacco threw an on-the-money back-shoulder fade and he's stepping out of bounds before even prepping for the catch. Obviously the entire game isn't on Maclin himself. But with the chance of winning in sight, I don't know that he could've done much more to prevent a victory other than dropping a TD. It was a bizarre sequence that has not gotten easier to comprehend.
