The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Week 14 Edition

I'm admittedly miffed by the post-game conference. Harbaugh was asked about the last play of the game wherein they huddled while unaware of the time ticking down. The prior play was upsetting enough in that T.J. Watt blew by Austin Howard, Flacco rolled to the opposite side because of Watt, even glancing back in the process, yet was somehow still unable to throw the ball away in time prior to the sack-fumble. But you still have time for something afterwards, anything. We've seen far less improbable efforts than a quick 20 yard completion to the boundary to set up a lengthy FG attempt. Likely? No. Especially with the time crunch. But it's far from outright impossible. So I personally find it infuriating to hear the HC write it off as, "You know, at that point of time, what was it, 8 seconds left in the game? I mean, did the game turn on that, you think? I don't think so." You what, mate? Of course it didn't. But it could have. That's kind of the issue, John.

Taking Harball at Face Value, he's a nimrod for suggesting the game was not in the balance even at that point. In my opinion however he's deflecting an issue that implies poor coaching. I am going to be so relieved when his tired old hide is heading out.

I'm personally thrilled and relieved to see Collins excelling. I mentioned him to @RavensMania prior to the draft as a sleeper with a ton of upside. He goes to a crowded group in Seattle, is waived, and I honestly wondered if he'd ever have a significant chance elsewhere. I'm very thankful that Seattle had as many bodies as they did at RB.
I remember mocking him to the Ravens in the third. Got told there was no way he would be there. Glad to see him finally here.

its true that i stopped watching them so much after that but im not sure we had - ive gone back and watched the tape and a fair few of his 4th quarter throws were off his back foot albeit at least half of them he had pressure in his face - although on the penultimate 3 and out it looked like he was stepping into his throws again so who knows
I reallt don't know since I don't think they needed to be throwing, anyway.

it was a pretty ugly 3 or 4 possessions after that drive though - lots of errors all over the offence
what's stupid (and id forgotten until the information popped up on the broadcast footage i was rewatching) is that the ravens had the best 4th quarter differential in the NFL this year coming in and then we go and lose an 11 point lead in the 4th quarter this time around

I think a huge part of that is teams that were good usually put the Ravens away early and the Ravens were playing catch up. Think Titans

Good to see that somebody else was high on him too. I actually expected him to go in the middle rounds as I recall it being viewed as a relatively deep draft at the position. Either way, I'll take it.

Overall Observations:

-If Joe doesn't throw that INT on the first drive Tucker adds 3 points...and we wake up happy
-LB's can't cover slow TE's
-If Marty doesn't go...I will
-running the ball at 5.8 yds per clip and you pass when killing time should be the priority
-Pass rush???
-secondary scheme questionable (I believe we have the talent to succeed)

All obvious, however, by putting it down in writing I feel better...
If suggs catches the easy int they don't get to kick a fg and we wake up happy

bowser is a soft tackler. With a name like that and who he plays for i find that unnaceptable.

truth is we haven't really been the ravens since ed and ray left. i usually don't say that statement but it's the truth. Yanda and Suggs are the last of a brian billick era.

go figure

On the field coach, team leader, inspirational motivator. They say its all within the player but it aint. Ray was a firemaker.

We might have been able to stay in the playoffs without Ray but ozze and harball gutted that team and that was that. we are scratchin to get back and have gotten pretty close but still lack playmakers. (Face it we got lucky with collins, the FO really gets no credit there. He got a try out due to need.) If flacco continues to play well enough we could get in.

One other thing, Pittsburgh was Fat and Happy, without Shazier and coming off consecutive bail out wins. It was a classic upset situation. Don't read too much into that close game.

Bowser is a raw rookie and actually has impressed me a lot this season I didn't think we would see much of him. I think in 2 years he will be a complete stud in this defense.

It's lamentable the dearth of hitters on this defense. Steelers offensive SKILL players are more physical. I lose count of how many times I saw three raven defenders unable to even bring Bell to the ground prior to a whistle.

It's the truth! The "spirit" that cats like Ray and Ed brought to this Ravens team is gone! It's nowhere in sight imo!

you know who's the most physical guy on our team?

Fucking Pat ricard ( what a player btw)

They are head and shoulders above the Ravens players....period! Bell PUNISHED our tacklers. He put both Weddle and Jefferson on their backs and it was sickening. Jefferson gets outplayed by a FB for a TD and he's laying on his damn back! What the hell man?

Seriously, that jefferson play losing the FB pissed me off. A great player picks that off or at least stops the touchdown
pathetic.

The good: Collins. The bad: stupid play calling when it mattered most. The ugly: Maclin giving up on this team and obviously the defense.
And I am loving Pat Ricard.
