The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Week 16 Edition

I agree with the first 2 but that “modest gain” was 2 yards lol - but his only target vs the browns was a really nice route and if the db didn’t play it perfectly we would have had a huge gain in the 4th quarter - if we can get him going it will be doubly effective because he’s clearly our best run blocking tight end and therefore adds a layer of disguise to early downs

Yes its very surprizing how good of a runblocker he's turned into and if he could step up more as a receiver like he was drafted too we will have an ace on our hands. Not sure but maybe its his route running that needs improved since I see a lot of his targets being either rollouts or screens.

It didn't come across to me as condescending.

And I was there.

I don't know but what I heard sure sounded condescending but it was nice to see him pull down a couple nice short passes that were thrown pretty hard. Hopefully this gives him added confidence. Of course he's still gonna drop a pass here and there {even the greats do) we just need him to be more clutch and catch a higher %

You haven't watched his tape have you? Because even in college he was a pass rush specialist.

To answer your question yes I have, but teams clearly watched it as well and decided those skills would not translate to elite NFL pass rushing or he would not have been on the board in the 3rd round regardless of whatever issues arose.

Note my prior post. "Didn't" was an auto- correct error and has been fixed.

I didn't hear it but I need to. Anyone have footage?
It could be heard in live broadcast. Clearly. Fans taking a piss.
I can't blame the fans, crowd's a funny thing. I agree 100% with Wallace. It was disrespectful and given that more of his drops were on Joe than on Breshad himself, probably unwarranted.
Not a big deal, though. He's a big boy, if his skin isn't thick enough to brush of this kind of stuff, he has no business playing pro sport.

Well if you don't draft him to play the position he plays in college and he's physically built for, what is your plan?

To develop him into it. Shockingly not every player has a great rookie year. Sometimes they struggle because they are raw and, need time to develop.

I think what he's saying as well is that TWill wasn't going to be an elite edge rusher day one and that his skill set would take time and development to translate to the NFL, which is the bigger reason he fell from being a "top 15 pick" to available as the second third round pick of the Ravens.

By footage I mean like a clip to share. I definitely don't have the time to look over a whole game anytime soon lol

Okay, but does our current edge rush look anything close to elite for us to not let him see the field? Not aimed at you Bird, I just don't think it makes any sense to sit a rookie at a position we're not good at, even if he himself isn't good. At least it'll keep other guys fresh.

He didn't fall 2 rounds JUST because of personality/personal issues. I've found that you typically fall a round from that if you are a round 1-3 pick. Him being there in the 3rd,means teams did not think he could be a pass rush specialist and definately not an every down player or at least elite at either category.
Well first of all, he had multiple off field incidents, players have fallen completely out of he draft for character concerns. Second, all it means is that the character concerns on top of being a bit raw and undersized means they saw too much for them to wanna take on the task, doesn't mean he doesn't have edge rush talent that's NFL caliber

Justin Houston
Elvis dumervil
Carl Lawson

Just to name a couple of others who dropped for just 1 issue or another

Houston dropped to the 3rd for only character issues
Lawson got dropped to the 4th for only medical reasons
Timmy got dropped to the 3rd for only character concerns

To say teams didn’t like his pass rush film is a stupid comment - if teams didn’t like his pass rush film he doesn’t get drafted because he shows very little edge setting in college and has the concerns to go with it - literally the only reason he gets drafted is because he IS a pass rush specialist

He’s electric on his college tape and on tape alone was touted as a first round type talent

I've seen some good from Williams in flashes, but I've seen plenty of games where he just gets washed out and really adds nothing to the pass rush. Do I think it'd be good to get him live reps? Yeah, I'm always a fan of that. I want to see him out there so he can get more practice and more refinement because the skill set is there, but I have seen enough to know that the Ravens often have players who barely do anything in year one and then bust onto the scene in year two.

Also. If you truly believe this, you didn't watch his tape. Twill, Myles Garrett, and carl Lawson were in a league of their own as far as NFL level pass rushing film goes

Bottom line is the level of play exhibited against the Colts won't be enough for us to get past the Bengals, let alone do well in the playoffs. We need to play a whole lot better on defense and the offense needs to sustain its decent play with no turnovers for us to thrive. Right now, it's hard to say if the Ravens are gold or fool's gold. I am praying they are gold though.
