The 2022 Offseason Thread

It's not. Voluntary portions are over

I'm talking about all the non sense in the media about Lamar missing something that was voluntary and didn't need to be there for. Obviously the real issue was always going to be Lamar not showing up to mandatory camp, then the media can go on about their contract BS and what not. Also Kyler Murray showed up too for the Cardinals, really like how both Lamar & Kyler shut down all the narratives by the media in one day by showing up.

They will find something to talk about.. they will contradict themselves or whatever they hsve to do for entertainment and viewers

predicting the 53 is pretty easy for the ravens right now but as you build that team it becomes clear that WR and EDGE just need more players (who will actually make the roster) - whether they're starters or not, we just need to add bodies at both those positions

i think it's pretty much a lock at this point that we're keeping 2 QBs, 4 RBs, 1 FB, 4 TEs,

if anyone can do maths lol - you'll probably notice that between offence and defence i've got 1 too many guys based on the projection that we add both a WR and an EDGE before the 53... not sure where we lose a guy to cutdown to the 53... maybe JK and Gus are absolutely ready to go for week 1 and we only have to carry 3 RBs (or one of them has to start on short-term I/R), maybe we only keep 4 WRs although that feels sketchy, maybe we only keep 4 EDGEs which feels even sketchier given the health of that unit, maybe we drop a LB and only carry 3 but again that feels thin, or maybe we only keep 10 DBs but we can never have too many and we've got lots of talent there

stuff will work itself out but right now it's easy to do the 53 until we add the couple of vets we're expecting to add + this doesnt account for any potential surprise UDFAs although i imagine if one of them does great that they may well be knocking harrison off the roster rather than adding a 5th LB (especially with how much dime i expect us to play in 2022)
My highlighted part is 4 Tightends, IMO if Nick is good to go the loser of Likely and Kolar will end up on a year one IR path.

It was so nice seeing Lamar show up today just like we all knew he would. Finally got to prove all the stupid people saying he was gonna hold out wrong.

It's a stupid situation. Can't we just negotiate an injury settlement deal? It's pretty clear he's not playing football again.

a likely injury settlement would probably include all the guarantees because why would he settle for less
he'll go on i/r and have his season de facto ended at some point in the offseason - or he'll go on PUP

i dont think so - i think one of them will ride the gameday inactives list but i dont see us shutting one of them down for the year... not unless one of them is really far off the level they need to be and so far it doesnt seem like that's the case

I don't think this will happen with Likely or Kolar and that is largely due to our WR room being less than stellar. I think they could use Likely in some WR sets while also having Kolar and Andrews on the field. Yes we will use Boyle the way we have used him in the past, but still feel there is room for both Likely and Kolar.

idk why people are talking about likely as a WR or split out in WR sets - to me it seems way more likely (no pun intended) that he's lined up in-line and kolar's more likely to split out into the slot etc.

likely feels like he's got some hurst-like flexibility qualities - not a great in-line blocker right now (but has tools to get better) but is a great lead-blocker and downfield blocker in space - motion him across the formation for lamar or jk to follow on counters and i think you'll see him make some great plays separate to his usage in the passing game

when people talk about him doing more multiple stuff than just a basic TE, im not really thinking about WR, im thinking about it in terms of more of an h-back with true flexibility to split out also

I didn't say used that way the majority of the time and agree it is way more likely that he is used in line. However when I talk about him being used as a WR, I'm referring to the slot and how Hurst was used as an h-back.

RG3 on GetUp just said Rashod will be the new number 1 and he's looking for Proche to step up as the number 2. He didn't mention anyone else.

Just more Proche talk and silence on the other guys

"Is it a mistake for Lamar to show up at Ravens camp?"

Yes, an actual headline.
I mean... if you're in the camp that Lamar shouldn't step foot on the field until he has an extension, then yes, him coming to OTAs is a mistake.

But agreed that's mostly media driven. All indications are that Lamar not having an extension has every bit as much to do (if not more so) with Lamar not wanting one than the Ravens not wanting one.

and only because they ignore the fact that even if lamar gets injured and misses time, his value at this point is not going to change

Think it depends on what his contract expectations are. He tears his ACL in the Summer and misses the whole season, and I'd say every NFL team in the league would take a 5 year, fully guaranteed, offer completely off the table (basically the Watson deal).

Might not change his AAV at all, but there's no way his contract is the same with that kind of injury and this kind of player.

Was there any good wrs worth taking in 4th or later rounds that was worth It? I just wanna know how bad the wrs mightve been that lead us to taking back to back tightends
