Really appreciating how in depth Harbs is talking about the offence
reading between the lines i think it's pretty clear he thinks this offence is basically fixed with the return of our RBs and by improving our OL - talking about creating big plays/explosive plays (i.e. need backs who break tackles or spring plays and/or need a pocket to get the ball downfield)
Yeah, he did throw some shade there against Wink. TBH, Wink had some real issues and he got exposed. Great guy, loved the dude, but it seemed like he just failed to adjust as much as anyone. I also agree with the idea that his unit really fell flat and has choked in some big games the past year to now.a bit of a backhanded insult from harbs to wink - talked about part of the issue with our scoring was poor field position - that we got a bunch of yards but we also gave up some yards too (and later mentioned penalties too)
so tbf he kind of has given wink some of the blame for offensive struggles in that 1 comment lol

As for the improvement of the offense, he isn't wrong--OL & RB improvement is an obvious area because let's be real--we had The Replacements playing RB for us and some questionable play at OL. I also kind of think we seem to recognize the need to improve the OL w/o saying that we like our guys we got. I noticed he made no comment of what we already have, also implying an upgrade is coming.
Bozeman is gone
It was an interesting listen. Offensively, it seems like Harbaugh feels there were 3 issues.
1. Defense. As it's already been mentioned in this thread, the D didn't hold up their end of the bargain this year and put the offense in some pretty tough field position.
2. OL and RB. The explosive plays weren't there in the running game this year and as a result, the whole offense struggled.
3. Execution. He said so many times that players didn't do the right things on some critical plays.
It was nice to get some confirmation that guys have latitude in what they do on offense. We have playmakers and we want them to make plays.
i think the 3rd one is obviously unsurprising and he brought it up a few times but especially when they were talking about answers for cover-0 and spacing in the passing game
the first 2 i think were more revealing - especially given we've got rid of wink - the comment about RBs not being able to get yards after contact i think is the closest ive seen him get to acknowledging that players just werent good or talented enough which is completely understandable given how that position group got wiped out
but biggest takeaway was OL for me
obviously spoke a lot about offence and deferred most questions on defence to Wednesday which makes a lot of sense but i appreciated the detail he gave in his answers when talking about offensive struggles (and came prepared with the key stats he thought indicated why and where we struggled)
explosive plays to create easy chunks and TDs
redzone efficiency where we had too many turnovers or stops

DefinitelyIt is always funny and shocking how different pressers are with Harbs in-season and in the offseason - for obvious reasons he's just so much more relaxed and happy to be detailed and offer unsolicited information in the offseason
I remember Harbaugh mentioning something about not being able to make plays. I don't remember the words, but it wasn't clear whether he was talking about offense or defense.i think the 3rd one is obviously unsurprising and he brought it up a few times but especially when they were talking about answers for cover-0 and spacing in the passing game

now that is interesting. I've heard several teams don't do squats during the season and a couple of those were the healthiest teams in the league, ie Bills.Harbaugh said no stone will go unturned with injury issues and that it’s more than bad luck. On Greg Roman, he said he plans on him being back but it’s early….
I think he referred to both, but specifically said that down the stretch the D didn't make the plays to get off the field and secure the wins. Mentioned that "if we just had made one play" we would have won some of those games.I remember Harbaugh mentioning something about not being able to make plays. I don't remember the words, but it wasn't clear whether he was talking about offense or defense.
I certainly hope we get Tee Martin for atleast one more year. Think he should have an opportunity as OC here. Are you fucking kidding me dude. If we keep Roman over Tee I’ll be fucking livid
I agree. I was surprised all season with the patience they showed with the RB group sans Freeman oddly enough. I think he knew they weren't good enough but also to some extent knew no one else was good enough either.
On the injury front as a whole, I felt like Harbaugh did a good job to not directly say that it impacted us heavily and that the replacement players weren't good enough even though we could all read through the lines and know that's what he meant.
What a nightmare. My money is on Harbaugh reaching out to his pal Culley to see if he wants his job back if Tee gets an OC positionI certainly hope we get Tee Martin for atleast one more year. Think he should have an opportunity as OC here.
