The 2022 Offseason Thread

once Lamar played he was good and in 2019 he was MVP. Stanley was also good from the get go and Hollywood wasn't 100% and only played in 1 pre season game due to his injury. I do believe Hamilton will be extremely productive, but I also believe Linderbaum is going to outperform as well.
I wish both of them do but it will be tough to outperform Stanley's rookie year.

Oh I realize I didn't say exactly what I wanted to. I was specifically talking about their rookie years. Of course Lamar is a crazy good player.

Yeah I think you're right you have to go back to Stanley to get a guy who was super good right away.

I have high hopes for Linderbaum too but I just have a hunch he takes an enormous step between year 1 and 2.
I Oweh takes a big step between yr 1 and 2 as well as Linderbaum and Hamilton, but lets get year 1 over with first.

There's a decent bit of chemistry between Bateman and Proche clearly. Bateman reaching out to him after Hollywood trade, walking into practice together, twitter etc.

Interestingly there's been so little media coverage of the other 2 for some reason. Maybe Proche is just benefiting from being Bateman adjacent or maybe it's clear to everyone he's currently WR2.

What's our current cap availability? Anyone remember how much we typically keep to go into the season with?
I believe it's in the $7-7.5M range in available after the Fuller deal. They'll need every bit of that to sign rookies, fill out the PS once the rule of 51 ends, and as cushion for in-season maneuvers.

they are negative 10.7m for all contracts but for 'top 51' they have 9m available. This includes the Kyle Fuller contract.

OK I don't think I saw Fuller's contract in there, but it probably is.
The overall total doesn't matter at the moment because that's also with like 80-90 guys on the roster or whatever they're at now.
But they'll need more than the top 51 for PS, IR designations, etc.
Basically any future signings will probably require a restructure or extension for somebody.

on spotrac the Fuller contract is listed, but it isn't on Overthecap at the moment. OTC tends to be my go to but spotrac tends to get the contracts up quicker so in those cases I do tend to check them out.

I used neither. I looked at Brian's and he has $9.1M, and I don't see Fuller included on there.
What I see different in the three (without looking line by line):
OTC doesn't have Fuller or the tender to Houston in their numbers. That's why they're the highest of the three.
Spotrac has Fuller, but doesn't have Houston.
RSR has Houston, but doesn't have Fuller.

Given that the Houston tender is basically "earmarked" cap space at this point, I'd tend to lean with RSR, and just know that the Fuller contract isn't updated there. I didn't do the full calculation, but based on the Rule of 51, I'm guessing on a $2.5M cap hit he would count ~$1.7M in cap space under the rule of 51. That's how I came up with the $7.5M or so.
