Obviously aside from the Timberwolves' fantastic trade, I was a fan of what Charlotte's done. Their trade for Dwight Howard made sense considering that In Kemba Walker's 6 seasons, they've never statistically out-rebounded opposing teams via numbers at the end of the year. The closest they go was an even break. They were the 2nd worst in Walker's first two seasons and then they were 19th, 14, 16th and then 20th last season. Unsurprising with nobody to hound the glass, having just one player average 9 rebounds or more. While Howard isn't what he once was, on paper, he could be their best rebounder in over the last half-decade, as he was the league's 5th best rebounder this year and the 4th best in the playoffs. Otherwise, I thought that they after landing Howard, their next best bet likely would've been to add a 3&D wing or a consistent shooter to take the pressure off of Kemba Walker and Nicolas Batum shooting wise. I've always loved Batum's skill-set, but he's been maddeningly inconsistent in his jump shot over the past few years, and he hasn't been a consistent deep threat. With Michael Kidd-Gilchrist playing nearly 30 minutes, and the addition of Howard, they add much-needed spacing with Malik Monk, arguably the best shooter in the draft; and he's also somebody who can score both off-the-dribble and as an off-the-ball shooter, meaning that Batum could be relied on more as a facilitator. Both of the additions have been sensible in my eyes.
