Next Up: @ Giants

Get these guys on the field for a month and get them up to speed and this is a different team entirely.
I think in addition to the OLBs coming in if you can find a way to add one more WR OR someone out of Proche, Wallace, and DRob can demonstrate being a real NFL caliber WR3, this team will be looking good.

I've been highly critical of Oweh thus far. Let's see if anything changes when all of Houston, JPP, Bowser, and Oweh are playing in games together.

it's also obviously not what people have been focusing on but he's been borderline dominant consistently on the edge in the running game

and has become really really good in coverage... obviously not what i want him to be doing as much as he has been but you can see with all these SAM responsibilities that he's really taken a leap in the non-rush parts of his game

he's also getting consistently held and he either needs to find away to break those holds or find a way to get those flags

it's just exciting to know that if ojabo truly is activated this week then it's only 21 days until he has to be on the 53

i imagine his ramp up period is gonna be a lot longer than anyone else's because he's never practiced as an NFL pro yet, and certainly not with the ravens - i imagine that even if he's not ready to go in a month, that he's being activated now (if that does turn out to be the case) so that he can practice and he may be a situation like Ronnie Stanley where maybe he sits on the inactives for a few weeks while he gets back up to speed

it was always said that november was likely the best case scenario and december or even january were more likely... well this puts november firmly in headlights

I know people are not a huge fan of advanced analytics but Devin Duvernay is rated very highly by PFF and DVOA.

interestingly PFF have apparently done a big adjustment to their grading (taking into account difficulty of assignment and difficulty of opponent) more into account on a play-by-play level which hopefully (at least in the trenches) should make a big difference

always gonna be tough to grade DBs and WRs when you don't know the play-call

but i imagine Duv is gonna be very highly regarded by those places because he has 0 drops this year (which is so rare for WRs to have 0) and has made some high difficulty catches as well as been a playmaker in space

Ben Powers has also been tremendous in pass blocking the last few games as well.....per PFF

per everyone tbh - he's honestly been the better of our 2 guards through 5 games which is truly shocking

who'd have thunk it lol

in general the ravens have been an outrageously good pass protecting unit so far through 5 weeks - that's even with faalele playing at LT for a game and a half

the play-level of JPP with the number of snaps he's played coming straight off the couch (im being facetious, he seemingly was asked to get in game shape before we signed him which is why we waited that long to sign him) is remarkable, especially at his age...

with Houston probably not far off
with Bowser on his way
and with Ojabo very much on the horizon

the outlook of that group really feels hopeful for the first time in a long time

Dexter Lawrence is a problem this season - just watched some stuff of him against the packers and he fucked them up
and especially when lined up vs KT who would rush the outside arc and force rodgers to step up right into Lawrence

gonna be a major challenge for us dealing with those guys up front

I mean PFF had Mekari rated higher last game than Stanley despite our eyes seeing Stanley clearly being better and the team playing better when Stanley was in the game.

that's not true.

Stanley's overall rating was 69.8 and Mekari's was 68.6

Stanley was also 84.6 in pblk to Mekari's 69.5

Mekari did nudge Stanley out in RBLK. 63.2 to 62.6

I see Mekari at a 77.3 grade for the game this week. Overall Mekari is a 68.6 but for the Bengals game I see him at 77.3 which would imply again that they grade him higher than Stanley for the game.
