Eluemunor looks horrible vs the redskins, constantly pushed back and clueless at times. Weight room strength and field strength are two different things.

I see him as an obvious bust, not that a 5th rounder is expected to make it in the NFL anyway.
imo, there is no such thing as a bust when the player is drafted in the 5th round. You are hoping for a role player and if that player ends up starting, well that's fantastic. Eluemenor is no doubt raw, and he was a bit slow, but he's combination blocks and pulling were very good, especially for his first game.

First I've heard this, most everyone has been surprised that he actually held up at a respectable level, which is basically what I saw.

But then again you have an obvious vendetta against eluemenor and he could be a fucking ferocious cornerstone LT and you'd still call him a piece of shit bust

Nope, he sucked. Watched all his snaps. Got bullied, missed blocks. I'm not alone, both filmstudyravens ( Ken) and PFF gave him bad grades. Ken gave him an F and saw exactly what i saw.

I'd take your own advice and watch all the snaps. Filmstudy gave positives and negatives. Don't expect people to filter out the negatives when you are in fact filtering out the positives.

Squat is 50 times more important than bench on oline. Get some help Mr. Personal Trainer.

You need the help. Cuz you obviously don't know jack what you are talking about. It's fairly even upper and lower body. Once again you run your mouth about something you know very little about. Like Hurst working hard and thinking I implied he is lazy. Some great interior players rely on their upper body more while some rely on lower bod. It's all relevant the players style. My favorite defensive player in the league Geno Atkins can bench about as much as he can squat. While great interior players have strong upper and lower bods every player leans on lower and upper to a different degree.

Elumenor looked ok to me, he gave up some ground but also got some movement up front. Im paraphrasing here but Prestons take has been that hes a work in progress, very strong but slow feet which should just be a case of the game still being a bit fast for him. Physically hes everything you want in a guard.

Having played the position, I can definitively tell you that you are out of your element. Two most important lifts for oline are squat and power clean. Period. No ifs, ands, or buts. Any trainer or coach worth their salt would tell you the same.

Agreed. And the slow feet aren't an indication of him being slow -- he's an athletic dude for being so big. It's just a matter of getting up to NFL speed.

Yeah they werent god awful but definitely looked a step slow. I heard Hurst had a bad day at LG too which isnt surprising
Definitely doesn't surprise me. The entire offseason he played RT and strictly RT then the team forces him to switch around to other positions. I could definitely see some growing pains if they really want him to be a starter at guard.

Im hoping we keep him at guard and convert Lewis to RT next year since he'll be starting from scratch, I know Howard is signed for 3 years but that doesnt mean he'll see the end of his contract. Stanley and Lewis is an ideal pair of bookends going into the future.

I agree. Always felt Lewis was better suited for RT.

Working at a prestigious country club with former NFL oline men such as Barry Sims as frequent members he agrees as does his trainer.

so filmstudy gave eluemunor an F but if you actually read what he wrote you'll see that he improved throughout the game and had some very good blocks especially pulling as a guard - for his first outing vs nfl players (let alone starters) he did ok for a 5th round developmental player - he will only improve

Eluemunor was drafted as a project, so it should surprise no one that he's not looking great. Problem is, with all the injuries on the o line, he's having to function as a 1st level back-up. In a good scenario - where we didn't have the losses of Lewis, Goose and Urschel, he'd potentially be a practice squad guy.

Anytime you draft a project, there are pretty solid odds that the project fails. They are normally meant to be low-risk/high reward guys and I guess you can say a 5th rounder isn't a high risk.

id say eluemunor is already on his way to being ok as backup at least

I thought that Eluemunor had one of the more up-and-down performances between snaps among any of our players against Washington. There were several definitively positive blocks on display, and his performance was marginally more leveled out in the 3rd, but there were still significant lapses in his play throughout game. He was absolutely dusted by Nico Marley in the 3rd quarter for a sack (Link). He was largely responsible for the botched snap on the draw, his last play of the game (Link). He turned towards Josh Woodrum with seconds left on the play clock (The previous play having ended around 2:38), for which Woodrum repeatedly instructed him to face towards the play, the snap came, and Woodrum wasn't able to locate the ball in time. The latter is partly on Woodrum, but you have to assume that if Eluemunor didn't ask for assistance at the most inopportune of times, that the snap would've likely went off without a hitch. Granted that Eluemunor was able to occupy two defenders with the draw going to the opposite side, which is a plus, but he finished the play as a bystander as Taquan Mizzell reversed the field. As for the rest of the game, Jonathan Allen blew by him with ease in the 2nd (Link1, Link2). Technically he also notched a sack, but it was more of a pressure against Eluemenor that forced Mallet to step up, which allowed Allen to disengage and clean up underneath (Link). Although obviously the sizable asterisks is that it was Allen, a 1st rounder facing a 5th round, so it's almost to be expected. But it was disappointing to see the same issues lead to negative results, as he would attempt to lean into defenders at the point of contact, and fail to properly raise or extend his arms, which exposed him to either being swam over or having his hands chopped down. Now it wasn't all woeful as he did have several snaps where he looked like he could very well belong. However, there were also times when he outright looked lost and was simply looking for a defender to get his hands on. Overall, it wasn't the type of performance you'd hope for, even for a player at his stage of development who likely won't be forced into a starting role. That was my opinion.

If we are going to make a move it'll likely be before game three. But at this point I doubt it's going to be anything huge. Likely some depth pieces we have never heard of before.

I think a line of
Stanley-Skura-Jensen-Yanda-Howard could be decent which is all I ask for.
