The Offensive Line Thread

Ronnie Stanley played like his old self again. I'd love to see this oline next year if we get a legit LG(Lewis wasn't good last year, don't expect improvement, Hurst is below average at best, our backups aren't great. We need an upgrade).

We can keep Greg Roman even if Harbaugh gets fired. His scheme is brilliant. Having a bunch of backups and still being able to run the ball effectively.
Harbaugh isn’t gong to get fired. It would be a huge mistake, imo

Stanleys issue going forward will be staying healthy, the small injuries seem to be the only thing that affect his consistency and building a rhythm.

True and he never was injured in college. If he stays healthy it will help our line and the player next to him tremendously. It’s a domino affect.

I hope hes fired, we need fresh ideas and fresh blood. And accountability.

Fresh ideas is something the Browns try, and the Bears, and SF, and the Eagles bombed out when they tried it.

The teams that fire good coaches just to shake things up stink. They will hire a new guy and maybe do okay for a year then head back down to mediocrity then fire the coach again then repeat. There is a very big reason that if the Ravens fired Harbs he would have a job before he reached the parking lot and it was not because we were the smart team firing a top 10 coach and replacing him with failed head coach #236.

Could be just me, but I'm not a big proponent of switching between two different linemen as we have with Matt Skura and Jermaine Eluemunor.

It's not just you, definitely. I've seen comments on that particular rotation calling it the stupidest move ever (close to it, not literally) and I couldn't agree more. I think they should have left Bergstrom in all along. Position wouldn't suffer more than it does now and there would be a chance of slight improvement maybe. Or at least let one of the young guys to try figure it out.

I’ve never seen that done before and it doesn’t allow them to develop chemistry. I think they should use Eluemenor and have Skura as depth
Just now checking the forum and I agree--I said it when I first saw it I think in JAX or perhaps PIT but that's one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. I've never heard of a rotation on the OL.

The last time our HC bombed 3 out of 4 seasons we fired him, so Harbaugh is in thin ice territory. When the results arent up to scratch players lose faith in the message and vision.

I heard eluemunor is beginning to come on. And on some plays you could see his raw strength and athleticism. If true when he learns technique and feel for the game he is gonna be consistently dominant and quite a steal.

The Patriots are known for doing it back in 2015.

The Ravens only bombed 1 of those seasons to the level of what Billick did and that was because literally the entire team got injured. When your starting QB goes down the season is over and thats just that. Also most people did not think Billick was very good whereas most of the league would sign Harbs if they got the chance.

Ahhh thanks for that information. I didn’t recall ever seeing such a thing and it’s a very strange idea. I most certainly hope it stops because I really disagree with it for obvious reasons.

Skura had some type of injury yesterday as he never came back in the game. Can’t wait to see @Filmstudy s review of the oline this week and mostly Eluemenor.

Of course he did. It wouldn’t be a Ravens game if we didn’t lose some guy we were counting on to step up and make an impact. I suspect Cleveland sold their soul to the Devil to put some gypsy hex on this team’s health. We can’t get through a game without some type of injury.

and Davis. Skura has some type of calf injury. Davis a hamstring injury. Let’s hope they get up to speed quickly.

one thing i noticed we did more today even before skura went down was use a 6th lineman more than im used to seeing us use one in bowanko - the raiders did it a lot last year and it helped - i wonder if itll become more of a staple of our offence especially with our limited tight end availability
