Wonderfully timed bye week.

A chance for certain guys to get healthy and also more time to bed in some of the younger guys more deeply.

Obviously Andrews and Edwards the 2 key health concerns and hopefully this bye allows them to be fully healthy for the stretch (with JK still to come back in later too).

Pass rush starting to form well albeit JPP went off with a limp against the Saints. But you've got to think that Ojabo is getting close to being ready now to add to this group.

EDGE/LB group gone from a weakness and wondering how many guys we'll even be able to field to the strength of the team with more to add still.

Kolar still to come in.

Not sure how we fix our WR problems though.

Is it really a problem to have a weak WR room? Yes Duv, Jax, and Proche are not a great room but you have both Andrews and Likely as well as either Dobbins/Edwards as a receiving option so I just wonder how important it is to have a good WR room when they are going to be the 3rd or 4th option catching the ball. If the offense is going to work it will probably be more like the early 2010s Patriots offense when they had Gronk and Hernandez but with a MUCH better running game.

yes it's a problem - it limits our ability to threaten defences vertically, it limits our options with route combinations and play-designs

im not suggesting that the TEs aren't part of the receiving group - but there's a reason those 2 positions are differentiated

limits space too which makes it even harder to create after the catch

Lamar needs to relax and practice his fundamentals. Passes to running backs leaking out and deep balls.

Likely needs to spend the entire week on the JUGS machine. Dude is slippery and has huge YAC potential. Too many times this year he's failed to make catches, even easy ones.

Get better Gus, Andrews, JPP, and DJax.

Other from Odell which ain't happening, you really can't at this point. You just pray that G-Ro finds a way to scheme guys open and for Lamar to......you know......hit these guys consistently. Disappointed with him because of the number of throws he missed. However, he makes up for his ability to run the ball and gain some nice yardage.

What we need out of this BYE:

- GET HEALTHIER. Obviously the number one key here, we already saw how much of impact Bowser had tonight in his return. We probably win 1 or 2 more games if he was available to start the season. Now let's get Andrews, Gus and Dobbins back healthy. Perhaps Marcus Williams' return can be for us what Bob Sanders was for the Colts in their Super Bowl run in 2006.

- Browns & Steelers lose this week, increasing our division lead. Browns travel to Miami while Steelers host the Saints.

- Going to be interesting to see what happens with Josh Allen, he's being evaluated for an elbow injury to his UCL, which would require Tommy John surgery and end his season. That would open the door for Miami or the Jets to win the division. Which would mean the Miami loss could come back to bite us if Allen is done for and Miami wins the division, and gets a higher seed due to tiebreaker.

- 49ers beat the Chargers.

- If the refs allow it, the Jags upset the Chiefs.

one of the more encouraging things about yesterday was just how willing lamar was to take the checkdown and take it earlier in the play
with the lack of WRs, that's gonna be even more important moving forwards as the field condenses

really hoping we can put a good offensive and defensive effort for all 60 minutes in this game.

I think Likely's hands are fine, it's his focus. The bad one last night he looked up field before securing the ball.

A much needed and well-timed bye for sure. We're banged up but everyone is seemingly more on the minor side. As we look to what this team can be with everyone back that can come back, I feel like the only positions that we should be concerned about are WR and CB, and one of those positions is much higher on the list than the other. You could argue the other is more nitpicky regarding the depth.

Cool things are:
Defense will get back Williams
Defense will get Ojabo
Tyus will get better
Peters will continue to get better
Hamilton is and will continue playing much better
Roquan will get much better and he's already looking great

This season's biggest disappointments have to be Nick Boyle and Tylan Wallace. Both are complete non factors in anyway whatsoever. And honestly the team was relying on them. Boyle for the run game and Wallace because we never addressed WR.

I know it costs money but at what point to do you give Kolar, Boyles spot?

I don't see any way that EDC doesn't spend the entire week on the phone with OBJ. Bring him in, take him out. Let him talk to Lamar. Do whatever it takes. This is ultimately such a small investment that could lead you to a superbowl. Make sure you can pay him more than anyone else.

Agree, but I don't think he wants to come here. I've also heard he wants a multi year contract and the Cowboys seem to be willing to offer him a 3 year deal. This is just a rumor. Obviously have no idea what the guarantees would be like.
You guys should bring in OBJ! Huge boost to your offense.
