Lamar Jackson

So joe isn’t held accountable because he asked for s mega deal and got it?

Absolutely not. I'm saying you pay the guys and hope for the best. Sometimes it doesn't work out, that is the nature of the business. As much as the price tag annoys you, does it bother you when other players on the team don't live up to their price tag as well? So how do you hold players accountable when they don't live up to the money?

And serious question for you. I have no idea what line of work you are in, but let's say you earned a big fat raise and promotion for coming up huge on a big time project, like the biggest project your company ever worked on. But then next few projects you struggled on and off for whatever reason, some your fault, some your co-workers' fault, some your bosses' fault. Would you give back your money? Would you quit?

I personally didn’t like the censorship of the old forum but man this place gets outright brutal at times. So much passive aggressive shots and direct slaps being thrown around here laced with sarcasm it’s almost painful to read. You guys really need to learn to chill and that this is a forum on the Internet. No issue with people getting fired up for their guys or defending their points but I feel like some of you guys are really just a bunch of dicks and assholes. It’s just not necessary.

And I know this is hard to believe for some, but it really is possible to totally disagree with someone and still respect and like them as a poster. I do it all the time, lol.

I hate Jamie Dukes as much as the next guy but he's right. This fanbase is spoiled and petty.

Yes, I acknowledge that I'm being a massive hypocrite. But I'm not wrong.

Some of you are more obsessed with "being right" than being a Ravens fan.

It’s not a big deal if someone disagrees with you. I think it’s healthy lol; however, the disrespect has gotten a touch out of hand.

Eh I think a lot of fanbases are spoiled—a lot. I don’t think that’s exclusive to us and I don’t think we act that different but I just think we need to calm down a little and realize we all love the Ravens lol.

It would be get boring extremely quickly if everyone here agreed on everything. Healthy debate is good...for those with a mind anyway, lol.

I'm going to have to disagree because we have two championships and have been pretty competitive, almost going to the Super Bowl a few other times. It matters.

And the last of my five home made pies are done (two traditional apple, one french apple, one lemon meringue, and one chocolate fudge)! * happy dance* Thank you for keeping me entertained, lol.

They are so good that they could turn Joe and Lamar haters into Joe and Lamar lovers! Fact.

Disagreement is good. Disagreement leads to compromise which leads to progress.

Disrespect is bad. This is an Internet forum and we are all Ravens fans. Cut the shit. I would hope we are all better than this

I agree, despite being one of the main offenders... I don’t wanna be this way but I really am a bitter dick.

I’m trying to change that in my personal life, when/if I change that, then I’ll change my internet self. Baby steps.

Didn’t ask joe to refund the team or quit lol, I ask that he plays like a franchise qb since he’s being paid like one. I’ve been with my company since February, they gave me a van and raise from my last job starting out, and then had me training until August, and while training I was ordered to do grunt work as a helping hand or essentially nothing while sitting back and not learning a damn thing, I felt the whole time like I was gonna get fired cuz I felt worthless, I felt like I was extremely overpaid for what I offered the company, kinda like how joe should feel but I’m sure he doesn’t.

And ftr I am past that stage with my company and now feel like I deserve a raise after getting past the training stage lol

You dont hope for the best.
You expect the best.

You invest money by giving a player a contract and you expect to get a return on your investment.

The more you invest , the more you expect to get in return.

When you are not getting worth your money , you either ask them to take a pay cut , or you get rid of the player.

No person is willing to give back money but if you got a raise and then decides to stop giving a fuck would you be suprised if your boss starts thinking about letting you go?

I think this is where I disagree - joe earned the contract and I think it’s unfair to say he didn’t work hard or try - he just wasn’t good enough for the contract (I think you could make an argument about the extension)

In the end he wasn’t worth the contract he was given but he still earned it - he just wasn’t the right guy but no one could have known that at the time - it’s pure revisionist history to think they did

Vet contracts for in demand positions are driven by the market along with the talent of the player. Also it generally happens that when you pay a QB big bucks you make it a priority to put him in the best situation to succeed by surrounding him with the best talent and coaching possible. I think it’s pretty much indisputable that’s something that never happened with Flacco so it’s really pretty hard to say “he wasn’t the right guy”, especially considering they won a SB and were close to getting there other years.

One of the main points that was made in the Andy Reid article you posted last week was that he learned early on the lesson “Do what works for your QB”. Hopefully that’s a lesson the Ravens have also learned, albeit through errors.

Based on those 4 games in the play offs then he certainly earned that contract.
Based on his body of work he got over paid. ( he was offered a lower contract prior to that season)

Those who only looked at those 4 games choose not to know.
Those who looked at his body of work did know and where right.

yes but those 4 games are not ignorable in terms of market values - that was how much he was worth so that was how much he got paid - blame the salary cap, blame the market, blame the overpowered nature of the qb position in american football or whatever - but it's not joe's fault that that was his market value because of those 4 games

the options at the time were not threefold where there was a middle option to pay him less - no the options were purely pay him that much or let him go... no sane mind at the time was letting joe go

you can argue about the extension he got but not the initial contract

He did earn it, and I never said he didn’t try, but in the nfl you don’t get paid for what you did that one time, you get paid according to what you can do for the team, and sadly joe just didn’t play up to it, or even come close.
