Lamar Jackson

Tank

Hall of Famer
This poll really bugs me because allegedly it’s coaches and GMs, and they’ve voted burrow tier 1 the last 3 seasons. Now someone did say echo your sentiments in one of the below excerpts:

Jackson surged to the brink of Tier 1 with more top-tier votes this year (23) than he commanded over the previous three combined (20).

“He’s a fantastic dual-threat guy, he’s explosive, he’s dangerous,” an offensive coach said. “This past year, with (new Ravens offensive coordinator Todd) Monken, I thought he took a big step and became a passer. To me, it was so different from the previous years.”

The line between being a good passer and expertly handling pure-pass situations like Baltimore faced while trailing Kansas City in the playoffs is what kept Jackson a few votes away from joining Mahomes, Burrow and Allen in the top group.

For some, Jackson transcends the criteria.

“I just think putting an MVP of this league in Tier 2 is being on some quarterback high horse of what we think it’s supposed to look like,” a voter who placed Jackson in Tier 1 said.

Faring better in the playoffs, where he has a career 75.7 passer rating and a 2-4 record despite strong defensive support, might push Jackson over the top.

“He’s a 1 with limitations for me,” a defensive coordinator said. “You can win a lot of games with him. When you watched it against Kansas City, he can’t pass when he has to. That is still true. But he is still a wonderful football player.”
The last sentence sums it up perfectly. Lamar needs to play well, and throw the ball well when he has to in the tournament to get over the top as a quarterback. Doesn’t mean he isn’t a remarkable football player.

he needs to play twice as good as any QB to get recognition as a top tier QB in this league. People are just idiots.

It’s true, I just saw that they had Herbert in tier 1 last year, so throw out the playoff stats as the reason. They just don’t like Lamar

I am still stuck on that comment about 10 MVPs lol

Understand this, if he wins just one more he would be in a 4 way tie with

Tom Brady
Brett Favre
Johnny Unitas

Cut it the fuck out

That coach that said that represents a large contingent of NFL fans who will always refer to Lamar as LamaRB or he's a running back. The day that this team gets over the mental hurdles and wins a SB is the day Ravens fans are gonna be fucking hated and I'm all for it.

I am curious to see what it looks like if we win one with Lamar.

I don't think the narrative changes honestly.

I was about to post this. Almost more than anything, it kills me when I have to argue with Ravens fans that Lamar isn’t 2. And my god I know he can be better than Mahomes and his bullshit. But this was why the loss hurt even more than it already would, we have to endure the bullshit another year

We are to an extent. I don't see the dislike as much with fanbases from the NFC teams. Packers fans for example were very respectful with Ravens fans (and vice versa) on socials when they posted pics/videos of Ravens interacting with Packers.

I meant by our hate would be amplified.

Why can’t Ravens fans in internet arguments get Lamar’s record against the Bengals correct, or analysts on TV. I can’t believe they say 8-2 counting that TNF where he played 2 snaps, absurd
