Lamar Jackson

Hopefully LJ can play with cat like reflexes and quickness. Speaking of cats, why the fuck did we not play the cat we signed after showing its debut against the Dolphins last season?

His best *throw* to me was the back shoulder endzone shot to crab on the opening drive, that’s a big boy nfl throw and he NAILED it, but crab got outmuscled at the hands after he grabbed a perfectly delivered ball.

his route was poorly run too - he gave himself no room to work with by just going straight to the outside - he didnt threaten the slant (or any kind of inside crosser) so the defender had no reason to not read that back shoulder

i mean it was still thrown well and should have been caught but crab gave himself less room and then dropped it too

but the clip on the sideline of joe and RGIII coaching up lamar is i think about the ball placement on that throw i think saying to put it higher and more backshoulder closer to the pylon

I think that’s what the clip was about too, but I thought the ball placement was great(although I can’t find the play anywhere to review it since all the game videos wanna skip to the third down overthrow” so I could be wrong. I thought the timing and placement was perfect in very tight coverage, bullet pass being thrown to the spot instead of the player and landing right on the numbers in perfect timing, can’t ask for much more imo. Crab just didn’t buy himself enough space and didn’t man up enough at the catch point.

And part of why I thought it was such a good throw was because it’s not a throw lamar does well with, so seeing an improvement in that may be giving me a bit of bias.

Hell the sideline comeback on third down before the half that crab got outmanned on, that was another one, perfectly timed, placed, and delivered, crab just didn’t have the space and he got outmuscled, and it’s a throw that is REALLY encouraging to see lamar put perfect placement on.

it was not a bad throw and it would have been fine if Crab had run the route better - but it wasnt a perfect throw and i think they were just coaching him how to throw that ball to a spot where the defender cant get near it even when the receiver hasnt run the route well

basically they're telling him to throw it more behind the receiver so it's not even arriving into the receiver's body

I think Lamar will never properly develop until Marty is gone.

what's crazy is he's developing well but they seem to only trust him in really short periods of games
Now the penalties in key situations hurt us BIGLY in this game, but M***y's playcalling is going to be frustrating on a game to game basis. As long as it doesn't directly cost us games, then I'm just gonna have to get used to this bullshit.

Would it be wrong of me to choke my brother out for saying Lamar reminds him of Kaepernick circa 2012?
I mean, he kinda has a point, but still, anything Kaepernick gets me triggered...

I mean the offence looks similar but they’re completely different qbs with completely different play styles - the only similarity really is their frame and athleticism

So go choke him out

They should have kept drawing up plays to Andrews and Hurst because the Browns had no answer for either of them and Lamar was hitting those throws. Let's hope they don't continue to pull this conservative bullshit throughout the playoffs or they'll likely be knocked out early.

The middle of the field was open all game but we shut down that aspect of our offence again half way through the 3rd quarter

I just don’t understand why MM is doing this. Many times we get downfield with Andrews / Hurst and never do it again. We were too predictable in the 2nd half yesterday

Also, the play-calling around the goal-line was ass. Why would you waste a play by handing off to Maxx when Gus and Dixon were running AT WILL? Why weren't you running any play-action passes in that area? Why not try to get our WRs to run some rub routes since every other team in the league seems to run that shit against us and not get called for it? I really hope we get a new OC next year.

Lamar is not great at throwing outside, so if he is going to throw it it will be over the middle, and while I agree with just running it you can stuff the run up the middle in the redzone. That sort of is the heart of the redzone woes the Ravens are presently having

While I think some may be locked in on their hate for Marty and are going to blast every play that has a bad outcome, the 2 plays that made me fume were the Maxx run at the goal and the 3rd and 5 pitch play that nearly cost us the game.

If you are going to refuse to put the ball in the air inside the 10, it can only be for 2 reasons: You have been watching your RBs gash the opponent all the way down the field and are ready to just let them finish the deal and/or you are afraid to put the ball in the hand of your rookie to make a throw.

I certainly hope the reason is not the latter, but then why hand the ball to a TE on a trick? We haven't needed tricks to get to the 3, just pound it in then. But the 3rd and 5 smacks of being scared of your QB making a bad throw and turning it over. Well guess what, we damn near turned it over anyway and that play was dead from the jump.

If we want to get anywhere from here, that shit has to stop. Give the kid a little more rope for god sake. If it fails, so be it, but we have to stop playing 2nd half offense to not lose.

I think some of this may be Harbaugh wanting to stay conservative in the red zone and the same when we have a lead and we should continue to keep our petal to the floor. We should have scored upper 30s yesterday if not more,
