Lamar Jackson

Jokes aside, even though what you said is true, Rams are the only team that scares me in trying to pry Lamar away from us. One, they are Hollywood, and have the financial wherewithal to figure out a way to pay Lamar what he seeks and will make LA the city of superstars! LeBron and Lamar. They'll never stop winning because they'll always field a great team one way or another by selling the future to buy the present.
I think a florida team has the best shot..unless youre making basketball money, i wouldnt wanna play for no cali team with them high ass tax rates.

"Rams will never stop winning"... ummm, this year they are near the cellar of teams.

This is interesting....

I love it. I’m all for players taking a stance, I’m done siding with billionaires over millionaires. The most dangerous American sport comes with the least amount of earnings and the shortest career span, and that’s bullshit. The nfl has taught us for so long that the players are being selfish for their demands, fucking crazy to me

Well I guess from following the draft closely for so many years, I realize that you can’t just guarantee you get a franchise qb with draft currency, unless you trade for a proven one with those picks and in turn eating all your cap anyway.

So yeah this trade could be attractive IF we can guarantee drafting a franchise qb almost immediately, leaving us enough cap space to pay all these guys while our new qb is on a rookie deal.

In other words… I’ll take the qb while I got him lol
Of course. This trade is totally fictitious and would never happen. The Jets wouldn't give up those picks and players for Lamar either, so its moot.

Just saying that if you get to a position where neither side is budging in negotiations, and we determine we can't sign Lamar long term, three first round picks and a package of stud players would obviously be enticing.

No guarantee you'll do better than Lamar, but having like 3-4 first round picks gives you the flexibility to get the exact QB you want pretty much whenever you want him in most cases.

I have a good feeling that we value Lamar way higher than other NFL teams do. That's all I'll say on that.

I am 100% for it but they are not going to win. I remember back during the "uncapped" year the NFL then fined 2 teams cap space for going over a cap that did not exist. They then argued in court that they was okay while at the same time arguing that there was no cap in a separate court filing by the players. So they were arguing 2 contradictory positions in court and won both cases.

I mean we know from the anonymous surveys that teams have him valued as a player at around the same level as Watson, but without the baggage. That does not really matter though because what truly matters is how highly the QB needy teams values specific QBs.

With Lamar -7-3 record
Without Lamar 2 or 3 and 7 or 8 losses

That’s the difference you have to factor if you trade him .

If I am EDC trading Lamar is a no fly zone no matter how crazy the offer is. Any other position then sure.

Doesn't work in my opinion with a QB. If this was basketball then I would feel differently

I still opine that Lamar is smart to ask for fully guaranteed and the Ravens are also smart to not give it to him just yet. Burrow and Herbert potentially coming up and that's a chance to see if the market is truly reset or if Cleveland just fucked it all up, and I think we know where that stands. I'd still be surprised if Lamar doesn't sign long term, even if that means playing on the tag for a year.

Yes, now imagine if Burrow and Herbert get a deal first and it's higher then Watson. Now what?

It's a risk you take. If the market is reset, the market is reset. The Ravens just aren't going to be the ones that do that.

The market was set when Watson signed. I know teams don't want to hear it or acknowledge it but no agent is going to go into negotiates and not bring it up. Especially if your client has accomplished more IE a Burrow or Jackson.

Owner or GM's can get cute and act like it didn't happen or "doesn't count" but I am sure if the roles were reversed and Pat signed some low deal then they would be using that contract against a player.
