Lamar Jackson

I don't see Harbs being that optimistic, even with the media unless the docs were telling him the same.

All of this drama has pretty much ruined the season for everyone.
Public made their bed hard on this one. There's no mention of any definitive timeline in there at all. Purely "week to week". Public took what Schefter and others (who aren't doctors and have no knowledge of his condition) about timeline and ran with it.

Public has earned the disappointment they have.

I would be more concerned about what it's done to the psyche of the team, especially if he is truly not putting a brace on and at the least trying to practice.

Harbaugh has created this negative situation. He's super competitive and a bit of an asshole so he gets unjustifiably pissed off when important players are injured.

He implied Ronnie Stanley was slow-playing his injury, and now's he's doing the same thing with Lamar. The Ravens also forced JK back onto the field eary this year.

Zriebec reported about a week ago that Lamar had a limp when he was walking around the facility. He's clearly injured. I don't know why Harbaugh felt he had to imply that Lamar is malingering.

I agree Harbaugh has been a big problem with his comments on Lamar's injury. He has been all over place on the situation.

Exactly why coaches saying nothing about injuries is the right way to go.

But then of course fans will get pissed off for lack of transparency, and because fans have this odd, unearned sense of entitlement that they should have all maximum info they don't need.

Harbaugh has created problems by being over optimistic about injuries since at least Breshaud Perriman. He then compounds that by acting pissed off when players don't recover according to the imaginary timeline in his head.

You'd think he would have learned by now, rather than subtly throwing the franchise QB under the bus just because he's annoyed that he isn't yet available.

At this point, I dont think we will see Lamar play in the playoffs. Just a gut feeling and I sure hope I'm wrong.

The chances of him playing if he had a long term contract with plenty of guaranteed money: 100 %

I think he'll play if he's healthy. If he isn't, I don't think he wants to risk further injury or to look bad on the biggest stage.

I don't blame him, a re-injury or a bad performance could cost him tens of millions.

I think Harbaugh’s statement this week indicates that more people then just “the public” are disappointed. I think he’s worried what this sideshow is doing to his chances of making a deep playoff run.

Maybe. I don't think the optimism aspect could be verified with any real info.
More likely is that the team physicians give him a timetable, and then injury recoveries take longer than expected. That's fairly routine in the NFL to begin with.
For every instance where somebody takes longer than anticipated, there's at least a half dozen players who's timetable was exactly what the coach and franchise indicated it would be. Marcus Williams comes to mind. He's been spot on for Campbell and Peters thus far also.

I'd just prefer if he didn't speak on injuries or give a timetable at all. But again, that too will piss people off.

Well and IF it's true that the team thinks Lamar could practice/play with a brace on (and I have no idea if that's true or not), and Lamar is declining to do so because he feels it limits him or just doesn't like it, I think John has every right to be frustrated by it.

But that's just the reality of the situation. Lamar's job is to come back when he's ready and feels he's healthy enough to play at a high level. John's job is to win the next game he plays and put a team out there that's in the best spot to do that. And he may rightfully think Lamar with a brace on his better than Huntley.

Didn't Flacco play with a brace multiple times when his knee got injured?

Flacco himself wanted the brace because he didn't feel confident in his knee. It wasn't medically necessary, as I recall.

If the doctor's are saying Lamar could play with a brace, that means he's not fully healthy, so I don't think it's fair of Harbaugh to air that publicly just because he knows a 70% Lamar would be better than Huntley.

I don't think he has any right to be frustrated. If he's only able to play with a brace on, that indicates his knee isn't fully stable. It isn't Lamar's job to play when he's not fit, especially when he's not under contract anywhere after this season.

If Lamar isn't fully fit, our chances of making a playoff run are between 0-1% anyway, so the risk isn't worth it to Lamar

Why is it not fair? If the doctor's say that there's a reasonable method for a player to play, and that player chooses not to play, I think its certainly fair to show disappointment about that.

Again, all comes back to... what kind of transparency do you want from the organization? You want honesty on injury updates but you don't want honesty on the reaction to them?

Missing here is the fact he is under contract to play football.

I do. All that means is both parties are doing what they're supposed to do.

Lamar's supposed to look out for himself and his health. Coach is supposed to look out in what's best interest for the team, not what's best interest for an individual player. If medical staff tells him that a player can play (even if limited in some aspects), and that player is better than somebody else at 100%, and player opts not to play, Coach should be frustrated by that. I'd have a problem with a Coach that wasn't frustrated by it quite honestly.

And as I stated many times before, I have 0% belief that Lamar sitting out makes him look "more valuable", just because the team can't score without him. We already knew that. It makes him look less valuable, because for a second straight year, he's not playing in meaningful games late in the year. So if I pay him, how do I know he'll be playing meaningful games late in the year next year? Or the year after that?

you don't want him playing if he has a limp, whether he has a contract or not. I don't believe this narrative at all.

It's not a 'reasonable method.' If they say he could play with a brace, than he's not fully fit. In that case, the player is fully within his rights not to play.

Please don't get back to your imaginary idea that I'm demanding honesty on injuries. I've never said that.

However, it would be more honest of Harbaugh to lay out the full picture, rather than just implying that Lamar is refusing to play, if that's what you want.
