Lamar Jackson

Who's to say we trade Lamar and get a first round QB that ends up being better than him?? Lamar was an unproven at some point too (duh).

I understand the hesitation of trading Lamar but if it's true he wants a fully guaranteed contract are you guys ok with the Ravens mortgaging the future for a QB who's missed the most important stretch 2 years in a row? A guy with only 1 playoff win? Blame the the OC, the weapons, injuries etc. He still hasn't proven anything when it matters most.

The Ravens wanting to make him the 2-4 highest player in the league is not enough for him. We don't know it's all speculation at this point but of he's really stuck on guaranteed then let him go.

Sure, but any connotation of certainty is at this point certainly uncertain. ;-).

I trust that given the circumstances whatever decision is made will give the best chance at competing, and won’t be based on any thoughts of what is the popular public opinion.

If I’m the Giants I slap non exclusive tag on him. Watch absolutely no offers come in and then they can get away with paying him 32 mil or whatever it is

1.Lamar is not going to hold out. It would benefit him in no way. The only way truly out of Baltimore(if he even wants that) is forward. He plays another year and then the Ravens can’t afford to tag him twice.
2. The Ravens have the ability to create cap flexibility to fit this years exclusive tag number under the cap.

Well Lamar's definitely going to hold out. Only question is for how long. I'd say there's a 2% chance he posts for mandatory mini-cap with the franchise tag applied. I don't think you'll see him do a single thing publicly "with the team" until at least the tag deadline expires, which is July 15th. Because at that point, everybody will know negotiations are over.

If he holds out past that, then he's a fool.

I think the last part is the key. Six months ago, I'd have agreed with what you said.

If they get to the tag deadline, and they can't come to terms, there's really not a ton of upside in riding out the year with a roster you really can't improve because the tag is prohibitive.

And they'll 100% know, by that time, that the likelihood of extending him before FA opens in 2024 is slim to none. And they're not carrying him two tags in a row. So if they get to July 15th, and haven't extended, I think they may shop him this year.

If Lamar is holding out for the Watson deal, and both parties think he won't budge off of it, I'd trade him before the draft and not think twice about it.

I'm actually kind of hoping that Hurts and maybe Herbert sign before Lamar does. Hurts ain't getting fully guaranteed, and I know Herbert isn't. So those contracts will not only set the market in terms of AAV, guaranteed $, etc., it'll bring clarity to what Lamar really wants. If they can't get a deal done after one or both of those guys sign, then its trade time.

Correct. Then its just a question of does he hold pat and pray that the Ravens (or somebody else) gives it to him, or does he alter his requests to market value.

Eagles are usually pretty quick with their extensions, so I think a Hurts deal may get done sooner rather than later. Would like to see one more, but honestly, a Hurts deal is going to be a pretty good barometer for a deal for Lamar.

Well they weren't free agents. They were trade partners. Not just about the $ when you're doing a trade. Its about the draft picks also.
They haven't been in on the high-end FA market because it really doesn't exist.
