It would be smartest to take a good contract and at the same time play for a team that gives you the best chance to succeed. It's short sighted to not consider the big picture and how much $ are increased with success on the field. Endorsement income can carry way past retirement for guys that get the exposure that comes with team success. End up making way more money in the long run.

This is the best comments Ive heard yet on the Lamar contract situation.

I feel Lamar is being very short sighted here and if we trade him it will be to a dog team like Atlanta.

Really? Fans are selfish? Jeeez, the average blue collar fan can’t even afford to go to a fk’n game any more. Poor Lamar should get his 250 mil guaranteed money whilst I can’t even have dreams of how I could even spend that kind of money in my lifetime or 5 generations of my family. Lol. I don’t feel one bit sorry for Lamar, and I don’t feel sorry for the billionaires who pay him, and having an opinion has no bearing on what happens with Lamar’s contract situation. He gonna get paid very nicely.

Ehh, fans can be very selfish. Especially as it pertains to players bodies when they are injured. Nobody blinks when a player who's hurt goes back into the game.

Some fans even demand that players come back before they are even ready to just help a team that would not hesitate to cut them on the principal that "if I made that much money I would go back into the game no matter how hurt I was"

Iirc Cousins and Wilson tried to. There was some talk when Chiefs were negotiating with Mahomes. But i don't remember there's actually someone with such a setup in his contract

Well there is a source that I dug up that has been reporting on a few things and they have been accurate. She says that we are 15-20 million dollars away from making a deal.

That's the hold up.


I will @ her if more info comes out and if she is right. So far she said that Lamar never asked for a fully guaranteed deal (weeks before SAS did)

Well some fans just have no clue about such things. The way I look at injuries is that I’m not a medical expert and I’m not on the sidelines, so I never judge about injured players. The problem is that so many fans have never stepped onto a football field and have no idea how physical the game really is. So it’s not really selfishness, it’s ignorance. But I digress.

Well, I'll defer on the could he play or not, yet when a panel of guys who are closer to the truth than u or me, role their eyes with uncertainty regarding that issue, I point to potential selfishness. Keyshawn Johnson said if u start the season u finish it ven if ur less than at ur best. Otherwise u let ur team down. Lamar wants what he wants and that is that. Sounds selfish. So now he's too much money and he's demonstrating no willingness to compromise in any way. Its time to cut bait and wish him the best. I hope he does get what he wants just not from us.
