Note that the Titans didn't announce that. Florio did.I think they’re going into rebuild mode. Just announced that Henry is on the block
Oh well apparently he’s not on the block then lolNote that the Titans didn't announce that. Florio did.
I don’t think the Ravens using the non exclusive is motivated by financials. I’m confident they would eat the additional cost of the exclusive and make tough cuts if the idea was Lamar no matter what in 2023.Well realistically, the reason you consider the non-exclusive tag is because you want the cap space to build the roster. Exclusive tag severely hamstrings what this team can do in the offseason in terms of personnel upgrades.
Basically a lot of paths under the exclusive tag involve cutting players you'd probably like to keep (Campbell, Zeitler, Pierce as examples) or just simply not upgrading the roster to a point where you're going to be a legit contender this year.
And there's not a ton of value in paying $45M to a player when you don't think you're going to be a contender.
Realistically, though, I think the exclusive tag is the way they're going to go anyway. I think its more of other teams seeing the same thing we see (i.e. exclusive tag is a cap problem) and thinking that one solution to it is to do the non-exclusive tag.
For me, the non-exclusive tag makes no sense this week. You carry the same cap hit now on both tags. The cap hit doesn't increase for another like 7 weeks or so.
If you feel you can't get a deal done in that time, you can still trade him before the draft. And would think you'll get at least the same compensation in a trade in April as you would by a non-exclusive tag today. Likely significant more.
Ultimately I think they would too. I just struggle to see a path where this team can basically be even as good as last year with him at $45M. Roster cuts you don't want to make will have to happen, and you almost certainly won't be able to upgrade everything you want to (including the WR room). So why am I paying $45M for a team that figures to be worse? What am I getting for that?I don’t think the Ravens using the non exclusive is motivated by financials. I’m confident they would eat the additional cost of the exclusive and make tough cuts if the idea was Lamar no matter what in 2023.
My best guess, teams are lowballing EDC and the non exclusive is a bluff on his part in order to get teams to up their offer. I’m sure teams would rather deal with Ravens directly than a bidding war. Especially if someone like Miami, his hometown favorite, is in the mix.
60 million at signing as well, the saints refuse to rebuildDam carr got 150 100 gtd
Maybe this is a warning shot at a Lamar. We’re serious about the trade if you can’t be reasonable with contract demands. Lamar seems pretty happy and loyal for the most part here in Baltimore and doesn’t want to leave. Might be over his skis in the negotiation process….Ultimately I think they would too. The other obvious flaw in it, which I pointed out separately, is that you then have to go to Lamar and sell him on the idea that he's not worth the additional $14M. If I were Lamar, and you tagged me at $31M, I'm pretty much throwing in the towel on long term talks and just waiting for the trade calls.
And maybe that's the route he wants, but that's not what's been indicated publicly by either side though. For me, if Lamar gets the non-exclusive tag, it indicates 1 of 2 things... either they're ridiculously close to a long term deal, that's like a day or two formality, or both sides aren't budging and he's getting traded fairly soon. Don't really see scenarios where he plays under the tag this year at $31M. Obviously be great for the Ravens if it happened, but I don't see it.

If carr got that i can only imagine what everyone else will get. Might be the smallest contract we will ever see by a starting again qb lol60 million at signing as well, the saints refuse to rebuild
Ehh, I think its pretty much in-line. We already knew the Carr's, Jones', Garappolos of the world would fetch $35-40M on the open market, so this isn't surprising. If carr got that i can only imagine what everyone else will get. Might be the smallest contract we will ever see by a starting again qb lol
Should have been last year.Seems to me the Raven's should have given him an extension 2yrs ago. Waiting till now seems to have backfired.
Wasn't the Ravens waiting, I'm sure they wanted to be done long ago.Seems to me the Raven's should have given him an extension 2yrs ago. Waiting till now seems to have backfired.
I don’t think a non-exclusive would be for trading purposes. In my eyes, the goal of that is solely for Lamar to explore other offers with the assumption/knowledge that what the Ravens are offering is in line with what other teams are offering. If they go with it, I see it as a way for them to try to bring him back to earth and see what his real market is.I don’t think the Ravens using the non exclusive is motivated by financials. This does seem like a likely scenario. If it happens and the comp ends up above what they want to pay, I'm sure they already are comfortable with the 2 first round picks. If they aren't I doubt they would take the chance.I don’t think a non-exclusive would be for trading purposes. Of course, the risk is that they flub their research and a team does offer him what he wants and we’re fucked

Damn we must have a really good offer on the table to be comfortable with the non exclusive. This does seem like a likely scenario. I'm sure it is a good offer in comparison to everyone but Deshaun Watson at this pointDamn we must have a really good offer on the table to be comfortable with the non exclusive.
Meanwhile Twitter won’t stop ranting about how cheap the organization is….I'm sure it is a good offer in comparison to everyone but Deshaun Watson at this point
