Lamar Jackson

It’s the fact that teams made it public their disinterests of Lamar. It’s one thing to not be in on him and not say anything. It’s the fact that they all came out and said it, within an hour of the tag announcement. Just felt coordinated. They wanted to send a message to every player.. “we ain’t doing that fully guarantee bullshit.” lol

Could also be a rebuke of agent-less Lamar himself...

Most likely is they were responding to questions from fans/reporters or other posts saying they were possible landing spots for Lamar.

No doubt It was collusion by the NFL owners, but it seems pretty clear the NFLPA was doing the same. But all the players are on the high horse today acting like they are victims.

I think the only team that did it publicly was the Falcons. Everyone else basically did it through sources. I think the Dolphins may have also been public but they needed to be to keep their current QB happy. Panthers, Commanders, and Raiders were all anonymous sources, though the Raiders literally cannot afford Lamar.

Jeff Z is really down on the whole situation. Keeps insinuating that bridges have kinda been burned and this nonexclusive is another thing to add to that.

He's said multiple times things like at best 50 50 to return, don't come looking to me for optimism, burned bridges etc

Why is he acting like this?

He’s probably tired of talking about. When both sides have been very hush about it.

Almost all dialogue at this point has been had based on speculation

I’m glad you brought that up. Idk why he is acting like a little bitch but i noticed it to

I mean that was my first thought when discussions of tagging him began. Basically, the Ravens potentially fucked him out of $13-14M. If nobody else signs an offer sheet, he either plays for the Ravens or sits out.

Honestly, if Lamar doesn't get offer sheets better than the Ravens, and he wants to hold his position, I'm sitting out all of the offseason program, and I'm 100% making it known that I won't be signing here long term. If Lamar is willing to play this out until 2025, he can, and the Ravens can't stop him. Even trading him after he declares he's out becomes challenging, because he needs an extension in place with any team in order for that team to acquire him. Otherwise, he's just a one year rental, which massively drives down his trade value.

Under the exclusive tag, Lamar basically has nothing to bitch about. Gets a one year contract very close to market value, fully gtd. Gets paid heaps whether he plays well, plays like shit, or gets injured.

Under the non-exclusive tag, he's playing below market value for the 6th straight year. Admitting we have no real idea what market value is, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out he's worth more than $32M a year on the open market.

And this is totally rational thought. Speculative for only the reason that we haven't heard anything from Lamar. Like who knows, there could be a version of the world where Lamar is appreciative of the accelerated opportunity to determine his market.

All that being said, Jeff's kinda acting like a bitch rn

Rapsheet insinuating yet again that Lamar is simply not responding to EDC. Apparently the Ravens have tried many different contract structures and Lamar wants exactly one thing and isn't doing any actual negotiating.

Um... that contradicts the reports that EDC went down to Miami to meet with Lamar to get a deal done.

Ehh, I don't see it as an option.

We're going to see what market value is this year. I suppose if Lamar plays fabulous and wins like SB MVP, its an option, but short of that, we're going to find out what market value is this year. If we can't come to terms on an agreement this year, I'm probably just tagging and trading next year.
Might he sit out the year?

Sure. If he wants to piss away $32M, and have his FA period tolled (meaning he could be tagged again in '24 and '25). That shit never works. LeVeon Bell did it, and he was a fool for doing it.

He'll do whatever everybody else does. He'll sit out pretty much the whole offseason, have his team bitch and gripe about it, then sign the tag a couple weeks before and post for week 1.

Yes it won’t work for him but it would also fuck us if he’s feeling petty. We’d be rolling with Huntley or a bridge Qb, basically wasting a season.

Sure, but that's the risk you take. If he doesn't want to play, that's fine. I'll gladly let the season play out to figure out where this is going to end.

He sits out = its a divorce. Everybody knows it, and everybody can plan for it.

Yep, and if I was EDC I would let it be known that I am not waiting around in free agency because we got holes to fill, especially at WR. I love Lamar, but he needs to make up his mind. I personally think he has a good offer from the Ravens on the table. Does he want to be a Raven or not? Pittsburgh fans hated that LeVeon Bell bullshit and the Steelers survived without him.
