Lamar Jackson

Ok seriously. Do we believe any team has contacted Lamar in any capacity?
I was just coming here to ask this. You think we would have heard rumors of a team or teams wanting to talk to Lamar. I think it has to do with the NFLPA basically running his negotiations, owners don't want to deal with them.

It's actually unbelievable there was not a single report all week of any one talking to Lamar.

If, and this is a HUGE IF, if this true it pisses me off.

They playing games with our boy.

(And no I’m not talking about his mom, shit is weird the way people call her out without knowing shit)

As someone who never cared which way this all turned out because I believed whatever happened both the Ravens and Lamar would be fine; I'm pissed that both are getting screwed by a meddling fucking union that seemingly just wants some press for itself in the form of a battle cry for higher than market value contracts for it's constituency in an attempt to bump player salary scales.

Also this.

Yeah it’s been pretty clear to me that Lamar is caught in the middle of a pseudo labor dispute. I mean Smith has said as much publicly. Lamar has been used by the union for the greater good, so to speak. As for the the League colluding, well duh! It’s just a damn shame this happened to our QB. It just sucks, but at the end of the day Lamar has to look out for himself and fuck the union. And oh yeah, Fuck the Cleveland Browns.

IF TRUE, then yeah, these negotiations are gonna last longer than we expect.

I do wonder if y'all think fully guaranteed contracts are gonna be inevitable?

At the end of the day Lamar has allowed for all of this to happen. Had he just chosen the conventional route he’d be much wealthier and much happier. This circus sideshow doesn’t benefit anyone, including him.

Well aren’t they already here? The problem with this in the NFL is that fully guaranteed contracts with a salary cap and revenue sharing system, is not sustainable long term IMO. The browns will pay 63 mil, or about 28% of their total salary cap money for one player, assuming they don’t restructure his contract. His dead money number would pretty much wipe out their $$ completely, assuming he was not on the roster next year for some reason.

They are going to need a new CBA where the NFLPA negotiates salary structures. Maybe % guaranteed for different tier players, based on revenue sharing allocation. Or something like this that doesn’t take away all assurances from team owners for their investments.

Also pretty clear D. Smith doesn't understand the logistics of what it takes for a team to make an offer, and the ten things that have to happen in order to even have the chance to get that player.

I would think the head of a major Pro Sports union would have a much stronger understanding of a) how his Union colludes and b) the logistics of what the franchise tag (that he collectively bargained for) means.

Just yet another case of a shitty Union head who's been getting butt fucked by the Owners for a long time now getting butt fucked by the Owners again. And then acting "bewildered" by it, which is as fake as it gets.

How would he be much wealthier? Im sure he js happy right now as we speak tbh

Probably because the talking was done weeks or months ago.
Comical to me that the same group of people saying there's no point in Lamar talking to the Ravens because the Ravens already know what he wants and haven't given it to him, also NOW pretend like other teams haven't done the same.
