2023 WR Thread

I agree they are the top 2. That being said I think teams might be afraid of Flowers' catch radius. He has 29.5 inch arms. And apparently there are precisely 0 good NFL receivers with sub 30 inch arms.

Idk if that's a big deal or not but I've seen it a few times.

I could be wrong but I see JSN going top 12 ish. I see QJ and Addison going top 21 probably and Flowers falling right to us.

i mean sub-30 arms is small lol
but Flowers plays big and isnt gonna be winning with length in the NFL anyway

if it falls the way you say then great

i think JSN is a top 10 prospect in this class

In that video this guy Sam from Pff is projectung Tank Dell at "the ass end of the 1st" or second round. I've not really considered him going that high. Anyone think there's a chance?

I just can't get over the fact that he doesn't actually play big despite being big, not a nuanced route runner, exclusive body catcher, horrible drop percentage, and he was ranked 22 in production coming from that high flying TCU offense.

I think he's gonna bust horrendously. Maybe I'll be wrong but I see a Kevin White / Breshad Perriman kind of comp for him. Like take Perriman and get rid of some of his straight line speed and replace it with shiftiness and some sudeness and I think you have QJ.
I get the sentiment but I don’t really agree. QJ was a large part of why that was a high flying offense, he has a big problem with body catching but he’s got more than a few contested hands catches at the high point that show vice grip hands, he isn’t just shifty or sudden he is also an extremely physical presence.

QJ does have a lot of Kevin white to his game, but Kevin white deservedly went in the first round and didn’t pan out, doesn’t mean all big physical receivers will do that. There was a time where deandre Hopkins was a prospect everyone was unsure of for the same reasons

All I have to say is Cedric Tillman should've probably had 7 or 8 TDs he didn't for no other reason than Hooker underthrew the ever living shit out the ball. Dude still went up and got it tho

I still think we need to double dip at WR unless we make a trade or land OBJ.

Would like 2 diversify the group. Unfortunately there's limited guys that fit the traditional big X guy.

Think we need to find a way to get one of
Quentin Johnston
Cedric Tillman
Jonathan Mingo
Rashee Rice

And then one of
Jaxon Smith Njigba
Jordan Addison
Zay Flowers
Jalin Hyatt
Josh Downs
Jayden Reed
Marvin Mims
Xavier Hutchinson
Tank Dell

That's 13 guys... I would think to get one from each group you'd have to go WR 1st and 3rd. And I just don't see that happening.

With that all being said, I just don't see how we can afford to not add someone beyond Agholor prior to or on the first day of draft day

So boom, jsn seems like the type thats gonna have a long good nfl career at worst. I dnt see him being a bust at all.. I think flowers gonna have a short great career depending on his team. Love flowers but i dnt like those odell type guys, the ones who you may have to give reverses to for them to get going, fucks up the game plan. Also thought he was like 5”10..

I don't think this is even very controversial, but I think there are only 3 WRs worth a 1st this year.

JSN, Flowers, Addison. There will be no budging on that from me going forward.
Jalin Hyatt and Josh Downs are clear 1st round picks for me.

I've watched a bit of Hyatt lately (stuff other than Alabama game). There is a sea of empty space all around him when he catches the ball. He is always literally wide open.

True. That being said Tennessee ran an extremely simple yet effective and very WR friendly offense. For instance Hyatt was always open because he was never even really allowed to face press coverage. I think I read out of all the major WRs in this class he had the least press snaps out of everyone and it was by a wide margin. Tennessee had him and everyone else (you see this phenomenon for Tillman to some extent too) running routes out of bunched formations.

For me I see Hyatt as a fast but not super fast one trick pony who was never exposed to a real route tree and has no evidence of being able to beat press. I'd actually hate him as our 1st round pick.

But I know I'm weird. I wouldn't want Quentin Johnston with our 1st either.

I agree with you here on all fronts. Hyatt is not a first rounder imo and I do not want QJ at 23 either.
If Addison, Flowers and JSN are gone by 23 I wouldn’t be opposed to trading to the top of round 2 for the next tier of WRs in Hyatt, Downs, QJ (doubt he makes it here)

Totally agree. I don't believe others teams won't overpay for Hyatt and QJ but to me, they are prime top of thr second round candidates. Like if you could move back, acquire some more picks and still get those guys, you'd be so happy.

Both have traits that can be used right away and hopefully coached into something better. As you said, if the top 3 are there I think you can pull the trigger. But if you do move back and Hyatt and QJ aren't there, there's still options like Downs, or Tillman etc
