The Running Game, The Mess and The Greg Roman

The good: It can't get any worse than this

Can it?

Lamar decides he had enough. Say he’s not ready to come back. “F yall.. should’ve paid me if you wanted me to carry y’all.”

I don’t even want him back as the 3. I want to completely overhaul the group in the off-season and just keep Bateman. I’m done with everyone else
I mean we've overhauled the group nearly every year and still have basically nothing to show for it. He had a rough game today but if I can keep DRob at the minimum or close to it to be WR3/4, I'll take him back in a heartbeat.

bateman
a couple of vets with some history and recent track record of at least medium level production/prowess
a rookie draft pick of some description
duvernay

duvernay should be the 3 at best to enter the season (with hopefully a rookie or someone else taking that off him) - and preferably should be the 4 or 5 and a role player with specific duties that make best use of his attributes

what's terrifying is that miles boykin would probably in hindsight, have been our number 1 receiver at this point in the season if we'd retained him this offseason

sure - not against him being in camp and competing
in an ideal world though we move him on just like the chiefs and raiders did around cutdown day because we dont need him anymore...

I know there’s a monetary aspect to it, but if the cap dudes can make it work, I wouldn’t be opposed to shipping out the 1 for a bonafide WR. Struggling to find one in the draft and we’re unlikely to attract one otherwise. Would make for a boring draft but something’s gotta give…

2023 ravens WR core:

Bateman - DJ Chark - Corey Davis (jets salary cut) - 3rd round WR - Duvernay - Tylan Wallace

Agreed. Just feels weird to want to move on from the one guy with some modicum of success and rapport with Lamar. He’s not great but there are much worse options to be lower on the depth chart. We have plenty of proof of that lol

I like this, but Tylan needs to never don a Ravens jersey ever again lol

I was thinking:

Hopkins (if cut due to salary + AZ wants to hit reset button) - Bateman - Jakobi - whoever the fuck else

Right now What I am thinking is :

Eric DeCosta has a huge hand in how this offense has sputtered . It starts with him. I don't like Talking about anybody being fired From their job but He should be held accountable For the poor performance of this offense and the product on the field.

It's time for a rebuild and that means coach Harbaugh Will be a head coach somewhere else.

The offensive coordinator Should also be held accountable And I'm sure that if Harbaugh goes, he goes with him.

I'm inclined to think that mike McDonald Should be given a chance to develop but I suppose that decision Would be up to the incoming Coach

I used to think very highly of the head coach In Arizona But as a play designer and offensive coordinator. He might be An interesting Coordinator here if he loses his job in Arizona

I Would also trade Lamar Jackson

Make it make sense.

Trade Lamar Jackson when we have a 3 point offense without him?

And Kliff Kingsbury as OC?

It doesn't seem like it's your day for making football points on the internet.

I agree with everything you said except the Lamar trade.

I want to see him in Baltimore, with competent coaching and team building.

I think the Roman debate is over - he should be gone by morning - but Harbaugh's job should also be in question.

I like a lot of what Harbaugh does (and hate a lot of it too) but the straw that broke the c.'s b. was the quote from Eisen that Harbaugh said the Ravens want to win with defense. If an NFL coach is saying that out-loud, to a broadcaster in 2022, it's clear that the game has passed him by.

Today the Ravens defense held them to 13 points, despite all the turnovers and drives starting in Ravens territory, but we didn't win.

The rules and the refs make it almost impossible to win with defense - it's just too easy for good passing offenses to score. We've seen occasional playoff games where a top D Line has overwhelmed a bad O Line - but that's about the only circumstance where defense wins in the post season.

The other objection to even trying to win with defense is that an actual game winning defense needs zero holes. That means all the salary and draft picks must be poured into that side of the ball, leaving the offense, which is more important for wining, shorthanded with Proche and Robinson at WR.

Just an embarrassing performance all around. I don’t see how Harbaugh or EDC can look at this offense and be okay with it. Even with Lamar, the offense had been rather lackluster. This team needs changes. It needs changes on the coaching staff and it needs changes on the roster.
