Next up: Mike Tomlins first losing season

Or if you have a cable provider you can just log in to the nbc app and stream SNF
Risky trusting the on board wifi to stream live tv.

Just to clarify why this game was chosen... it was one of only three realistic options basically.
Original SNF game was Rams/Chargers, which was obviously never going to stick. They've been waiting to move off of that for weeks now. Even worse with Chargers already clinching and being locked in as the wildcard.

Only games that would make any sense at all, both from ratings, competitiveness, and importance aspect:
Dolphins/Patriots
Panthers/Buccaneers
Jets/Seahawks
Vikings/Packers
Steelers/Ravens

Vikings/Packers got protected by CBS, and Panthers/Buccaneers got protected by FOX, so those two weren't options.

Jets/Seahawks, while highly important for both teams, is not a star-driven game by any stretch. Dolphins/Patriots probably would have made plenty of sense, except Tua is in concussion protocol and I can't imagine he gets cleared to play, so its basically an unwatchable Patriots team vs Bridgewater in primetime. That's not sexy either.

So Steelers/Ravens makes plenty of sense.

Also this won't preclude them from putting Bengals/Ravens on SNF in Week 18 either. It's been done before.
But week 18 also offers plenty of matchups (at the moment) that could be flexed.
Patriots/Bills
Ravens/Bengals
Lions/Packers
Jets/Dolphins
Panthers/Saints
Giants/Eagles
Cowboys/Commanders
Titans/Jags (the obvious choice at the moment)

A lot will change after week 17, but any of those games could be for division titles, win-or-go-home scenarios for one or both teams, etc.
Ravens/Bengals might actually be slightly less sexy, due to the fact that both teams will be in the playoffs already.

Odd that a Titans/Jags game in week 18 would be the most intriguing, but it is. Looking highly likely that's a win and in for either of those 2 teams, so makes the most sense clearly.

Well its locked in regardless of this weeks games. That game in week 18 is for the division title, no matter what either team does in week 17. So its pretty much the ultimate "win or go-home" game, which the NFL would love to showcase. There could be other games that are sexier with significant things at stake, but that's the only one that's guaranteed at the moment.

It presents a sort of "odd" scenario where both of those teams may be interested in resting starters in week 17, only to have them healthy for week 18. Don't see that too often it seems.

Plus week 17 sorts a lot of this out. If Tampa beats Atlanta, they win the division, which means Bucs/Panthers is meaningless. If Giants beat the Colts, they lock a playoff spot, which means Giants/Eagles isn't super meaningful either. If the Jets or Patriots lose this week (or both), they're out, meaning their games are irrelevant in week 18.

Would also just say this to add to the intrigue... those are 2 coaches there that we know will pull out all of the stops if they need to. Almost a virtual guarantee they're getting it.

I wouldn’t mind this..

Those 3 picks make sense knowing he played the second half in that condition.
He probably should have retired after that second concussion a while back. He's likely taking years off of at least quality of life with each concussion at this point.
If Tua didnt have super fast elite receivers he would be throwing a lot more picks than this. He has no arm strength but his receivers are typically wide open because of their speed. Don't see a lot of contested catches.

I keep running the ESPN playoff simulator and come up with us in the 6th seed if we go 1-1 down the stretch. It’s interesting if we beat Cinci we end up get the #3 seed and get LA at home. If we lose week 17 then we head right back to Cinci in Week 18 as the 6th seed.

Right. Mostly because the assumption is the Chargers will win their next two games.
However, I'll personally be kind of interested to see how things shake out with playing time decisions for them. Especially in week 18.
They'll basically be playing to improve their seeding from the 6 to the 5. They can't win division. I don't know how much motivation that will be for them.

One would think they'd probably rather play TEN or JAC as opposed to CIN or KC/BUF, but Jacksonville also blew them out in LA once this season, they don't matchup particularly well with TEN, and they always play KC very tight.

So I think there's plenty of scenarios where Chargers rest some key players in week 18 and potentially lose to Denver.

We can also get Cinci at home in this scenario. That would mean they beat the Bills this weekend.

Anyone think if we beat the Bengals and take the 3 seed that we could really beat them 3 times this year?
With a healthy team and playing smart ball I think we can beat anyone. That said I think our toughest matchup of all the teams in playoffs would be the Bengals.

I’m not scared of them. They very may well beat our asses but as I look at it they don’t scare me with Lamar. I don’t think they’re built to beat our defense, they used to be, but not anymore, I think we’ve evolved.
