2023 Baltimore Orioles

You're right. I went back and looked at his stats. He's only blown 5 saves. One resulted as a loss for him, two others resulted in team losses after he was removed. So three of the 5 were team losses. The other two resulted in team wins. One of them he got the win, the other the team won, but another reliever got the win. There were also 3 games where he got the win when he came into a tied or one run game in the 9th and pitched it out or completed the game in the 10th to get those wins.

IDK, I can't explain why sometimes I worry, but I do. It's not even walks - which I thought he had more than his stats show... 19. Maybe it's his strike ratio: 65%. IDK, lol. Sometimes I start to sweat a little. ^_^ He definitely earned his AS spot!
That's a normal sports fan reaction. We were spoiled by 2016 Britton.

For me it's not a sports fan reaction, or does it have anything to do with stats or percentage of blown saves, they happen to all closers. The worry lies in the situations where a couple of the blown saves occurred.

Not suggesting he's not the guy, or a change should be considered, just hairs sticking up on the back of my neck with concern because of what I perceive as lapses in basic situational awareness.

That said, I'm still confident Felix will continue to grow into the role and think he has the potential to become our "Mariano Rivera".

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the situation where they're happening, if blown saves happen to all closers.

Blown saves happen to all closers. Throwing a hittable ball to Aaron Judge with the count 0 - 2 shouldn't happen, ever.

Felix isn't the only closer who's done that. He's not the only pitcher who's done that. Judge is one of the best hitters in the league and this is a weird thing to base an uncomfortable feeling about him on whenever he pitches.

Yeah, I'd love it, personally, but it's gonna cost more than the 10M even for a rental. They're gonna get players like what we thought we'd get for Lamar when we were convinced he'd never sign. I'd be all in if they decided to go all in extending him once they got him. I'm still pissed that that dumbass contract to Chris Davis cost us the ability to extend Manny.

My gut feeling tho is that he's gonna go to one of the big 5. Just don't want it to be the Skanks. Don't really care where else he lands, but I can't imagine where the Angels will let him go after how they dealt with Trout.

Do you think the Davis contract really affected extending Manny? Or was it just the typical Angelos tight wad move?

I think the failure that was Chris Davis and the contract he was gifted definitely scared them away from what was supposed to be a 1/2Billion contract. I think we forget how epically Chris Davis was failing by the time Manny was traded. Manny ended up getting a $300M contract.

It might actually still carry over that we'll never sign a big talent again. We are still paying Chris Davis $2.8M/year thru 2037. Fucking EPIC fail in every respect. But if we were ever going to attempt to exorcise the memory of losing a generational talent and giving an exorbitant payday to a one-hit wonder, someone like Ohtani has to be a candidate to do it. I think there is a 3% chance. lol

I really think Ohtani will veto any move that would take him away from the west coast. But dag, he may be the best player ever to play MLB. Like you said, anywhere but ny.

IDK……Hopefully we’ve learned you have to spend money to make it. Given there’s no cap to worry about they’ll just have to eat Davis’ contract and bear it. Chris is our Bobby Bonilla. lol

I really hope management realizes the need to keep this core of players together for the long haul. Also, another reminder that you never let Gunnar get hot.

Been wanting to get to Prince George’s Stadium to see Jackson play but it’s just too daggone hot and humid. Maybe it will be a bit better this week, Baysox are home through next weekend.

Watched it while out to dinner and drinks with the wife. When Gunnar smacked that HR, there was a loud cheer. Great win. They play every pitch. Fun to watch.

Baltimore teams never make it easy do they......... I was having flashbacks to the Dolphins' comeback last year.
