he's 100% that kind of guy
but the difference is he looks like someone who's an actual option on returns if needed

idk what he's doing on coverage units but that could help him make the backend of a 53

as of right now though im pretty sure he's not on the 53
I know they had him doing some gunner work but hard to envision him as a full time coverage unit guy due to (a) his size and (b) the guys that are already plenty good at that.

The other big question I'd have is surrounding Bowser right now. Harbaugh expected week 1 and that's getting tighter. But I just can't imagine a world where they want to keep him on NFI, shelve him from even practicing for 4 weeks, and then add on the ramp up period. Think they'd rather have him miss a couple of games while ramping up on the practice field. But who knows where his knee is actually at.

maybe harrison plays more SAM stuff than we expect to begin the year idk
but there's a reason they didnt sign van noy

Not that I exactly trust him in that role yet, but it seemed like they had Trenton doing some of that SAM work too.

Also saw a random mention in one of Jeff's articles that while Simpson seems to be the leader at LG, there are some that are enamored by Sala's upside and would be open to him learning on the job. Joe D was clearly a big advocate so wouldn't be surprised at all if he's the main one pushing the agenda.

only reason i didnt mention simpson is because he doesnt seem to be in the immediate plans - lost too much of training camp to be an early contributor outside of special teams i think

but certainly someone who later in the year may take some of those SAM type snaps... if all goes well

as much as that may be true - and jeff has consistently mentioned that in his recent articles
Simpson, by most accounts, has had all the 1st team snaps since that two week chance they gave Sala - they can be enamoured with the upside all they want but their actions are showing that they're not looking at Sala right now as a viable starting option

if they wanted sala to learn on the job he'd be "on the job" already

I mean the injuries would make him unhappy anywhere, that's obvious. My point is that he doesn't tell the story like oh I went to a dark place because of the injuries and I'm just coming out like we've heard from so many others. We've straight up seen him say he's never been happy in Baltimore and be combative and short and stupid on Twitter. It's all the extra stuff I'm talking about
Regardless of how he felt it was pretty dumb and ignorant to post the stuff he did. And yeah, all of the extra stuff, not too smart. I think he'd probably be a knucklehead wherever he was and find something to bitch about.

Decided to go through the last 9 years (because that's what was easy to find) of cut days and these are the guys we lost on waivers on/right around cut day...

OL Tyre Phillips
RB Nate McCrary
CB Nigel Warrior
LB Chauncey Rivers
RB Tyler Ervin
DT Carl Davis
RB Taquan Mizzell
LB Donald Payne
FS Terrence Brooks
LB Arthur Brown
CB Asa Jackson
OL Robert Myers

Not a single name there that turned into anything good. A few guys that hung around the league for a bit. There's a good chance that the guy we cut that we think is going to be claimed is actually not going to. And if he is, it's a good chance we'll forget all about that dude in 2 years.

we are just all intrigued with his speed, but I have to agree with you.

I'd say there is an 80% he gets cut and doesn't get claimed.

His tone seems a bit different here. Thinking his head may be in a better place now.

I hope Marlon is back by the first Steelers game, Pickett to Pickens is going to give us as much problems as Burrow to Chase. We need to invest a 1st round pick at Corner next year for sure.

Nah, I think someone will, speed is hard to resist.
That's the one thing that gives me pause with him, personally. Can't teach that kind of speed. But also realizing there are a lot of fast guys at RB across the league in a similar situation that haven't and likely won't cut it. Not saying you can't find an undrafted gem of course, but the reality is that the significant portion of them flame out.

The offseason is the time the undersized RB thrives

Pretty sure we were going cb first round anyway. CB, guard, DL or edge(depending on board and how this year goes). Unless one of the young guys takes massive steps, I still doubt they wouldn't attempt to reload that position.
