The 2023 Offseason Thread

Not going to pretend that you could even know how he'd do, but I was guessing they were leaning Canales and I liked the prospect of someone newer to the role.

However, Monken was a clear 2nd to me out of the finalists that were mentioned. He did a lot of good things at Georgia and looking forward to seeing how he transitions back to the NFL game.

I was surprised at how many people actually were pro-Monken. Didn't get a lot of interest on these boards, but publicly on social media, he's been a top 3 choice for most.

Also very much a "Ravens hire". Guy with prior experience, older, with track record of success. May have less upside, but also less risk of a QB coach from a team with no play calling experience.

Do think he meshes well with the current personnel we have AND runs a much more traditional pro-style offense.

Based off of the last sentence, does this mean Monken is relatively pass-heavy? If so, I’m liking it. To death with heavy personnel

Think the key thing for me is that he adjusts to personnel. If he has WRs, he'll use them. If he doesn't, he'll use the talent he does have. Not round hole, square pegging it.

UGA fans absolutely love this man lol. That gives me enough hope. I admittedly don’t know much about him

from @lostintranslation

It’s a hire that works well on paper for many reasons. He heralds from a scheme that basically runs Greg Roman’s run game without any of the baggage his passing attack comes with.

It's TBD since he's an unknown so I'm not celebrating but I'm not actively bashing the move either.

That said. Welcome stenson bennett to the ravens

Not sure how I feel. He did some great things with Stetson Bennett. His offense isn’t overly exciting and Georgia has been criticized of being an old school offense at times
My thoughts exactly. It’s easy to run that offense when you’re physically dominant to everyone in your league aside from Alabama. Wont work that way in the NFL. I also hate that we’re bringing in a 60 year old to work with Lamar.

means were drafting him
