The AJ Green, the Joe Flacco, and the Defense- Week 2 Edition

Face the music: This whole damn team is mediocre and has been for years now!

It doesn't matter what they do to so-call "improve" the roster. From year to year, from draft to draft, from Mini camp to mini camp, from Training camp to training camp, from OTA's to OTA'S from the Preseason to preseason, from trades to trades, from cuts to cuts, from releases to releases, from waivers to waivers and from signings to signings, this team is STILL mediocre and to even say that is a stretch!

i see a lot of people cant wait for hurst to get back.. although i like andrews, whats the big difference between the two other than hurst being better at YAC and andrews being very good at getting in those soft spots? Is it the fact the both of them will be on the field at the same time? or is hurst just that much better than him?

Hurst is a better route runner, can get more YAC, has possibly the best hands on the team, and is a better blocker. Andrews keeps improving though and should make a deadly duo when Hurst comes back.

I dont know why this comes as a surprise to any of you year in and year out. The moment you told me Smith would be out, I already knew Green would kill us.

HE ALWAYS DOES. that catch and run was ridiculous, that man makes Dalton. I don't fault Marlon or Young. He's AJ FUCKING GREEN

I didnt like how I'll prepared we were offensively given that talent we already knew Cincy had on the line. Ball needs to come out faster. Defense was all over the place when Mosley went out, not sure why we gave those duties over to Peanut instead of Weddle from the jump.

Loved what I saw from our rookie LB Young, I pray that he develops into the LB we need next to Mosely.

We abandoned the run game again. That won't cut it. Stop bring Lamar in. Either play him or sit him.

btw. Brandon Williams is no raven. Saw him laughing it up a few times on the sidelines. Probably can't believe how overpaid he is. Worst contract in the NFL imo(outside of QB's).

Wish we could revisit that one too. He's a good NT, but Pierce is too.

I agree 100%

Constantly bringing in Lamar and just letting him run the ball was pissing me off! Who is this Ravens offense? What are they (i.e. smashmouth, PA, or a pass first, RPO team)?

Keep Lamar's young ass on the sidelines and let him watch and learn. That type of putting him in and out b.s. throws off the rythym and offensive flow!

Didn't realize til just now, the hoist of Lord Stanley's Cup is you tank.

I also think they need to let Flacco play without distraction. If they want to give Lamar an early chance and start him, go head, but Flacco is our best bet for now. When he throws deep good things often happen. The protection was not good.

I think we ran into the Division winner. Provided they stay sound. I don't know how a veteran wide receiver can possibly come across the middle without looking at the QB...I actually lost it however.

Dalton was throwing a nice ball. Sometimes it wobbled but it was almost always on target.

Can we beat them at Home?...….Yeah, its such a rivalry we know them well. Are we better than them? At this point not.

Other than some random poor plays by some this game was ultimately lost at the LOS. No pass pro. Flacco was consistently harrased and hit and when he wasn’t there were arms, hands and helmets in passing lanes. Terrible O line play and great scheming by the Bengals. No pass rush. Dalton consistently had a clean pocket and open throwing lanes, don’t think he was ever touched. Great adjustments on D in the second half that were aided by some poor play by the Bengals and some suspect play calls on their part.

Couple of thoughts.......Siz disappeared in this one. Either he was nicked and we didn’t know or he’s seriously showing his age.
Crabtree sucked. Dropped passes, pulling up on routes, falling down before contact, etc.. When the pass hit him in the face mask I almost lost it. Hopefully he just had a bad game.

Please, please can the gimmick plays with Lamar. They serve no purpose other than to rob momentum and ruin any flow and rhythm the O might be trying to gain. They make the team look like a desperate loser searching for a way to win.

I'm going to try something new this week. I'm going to write my post game article on Tuesday and try to figure out how to use GIFs from NFL Gamepass in my article to hopefully liven it up and help paint a better picture.
When you do, try to find Nick Boyle on the 4th&2 play to Buck Allen. That one really pissed me off.

It is pretty telling that 28 of the Bengals 34 points came when Onwuasor was the defensive playcaller. Nobody on defense seemed to have any idea what was going on for the entire first half. Big reason why the Bengals only scored 6 in the second half.
I know, everyone outside of this board was saying how great of a game the Bengals had. Not to take anything away from Dalton, Green, and the playcalling, but we handed it to the, on a silver platter when Peanut was calling the plays. I can’t wait to play them again

One thing I’m impressed with about this offense is Flacco is spreading the ball around. 3 of the 4 leading receivers were WIDE RECEIVERS and the 3 newest additions at that. Those same 3 scored tds last week. It looks like they have gained Flacco’s trust and that is very good news.
Yeah, the offense is way better just need to get the run game going. Really wish we still had Jensen at least for this year. Joe did miss a lot of open throws which really hurt us there.

Man, if John Brown keeps this up we're to have to make sure he sticks around.

That Humphrey TD is one that most corners couldn’t have stopped. Humphrey was playing green very well and green ran one hell of a route. Humphrey has been incredibly instinctive so far and he went with his instincts and went after the fade, which is smart considering green is a 6’3” highpointing fucking machine, but green just dug in and cut back, it was a good play call going against what is expected and executed perfectly.

I’m more upset about not having inside coverage on green on that redzone crossing route, that was a straight up blunder.

Guess Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder. I saw a simple out, a grab early that should have been called. Loss of position on a clear out pattern. Humpf is always trying to stay behind the receiver, but even if he actually tried to stay close and look for the ball, (He never looks for the ball), hes not nimble enough of foot to do it. Then there was the grab late that could have been called. Humpf does a fair job of staying between the goal line and the receiver and he'll make a good safety. Corner...not so much.

Ditto on the lost assignment. He would make a good safety. I think we'll see him there next year, even with Jimmy moving on.

Now I might be wrong, but I think the play you're talking about was Green in the slot on an out for a TD. The route, pass and timing were PERFECT. Add that in with Wink deciding to play a shit load of man and I'm not too mad about Marlon's technique on that play. He's a damn good corner and probably the best active one on the team now. You speak like AJ is some bum, but I remember seeing your boy Lattimore getting torched too by an elite wr with Fitz throwing him the ball.

I want both on the field

Yeah, that's the play...The point being if you're gonna "arm" a receiver and the Ref's are gonna let you "arm" a receiver, that gives a real CB the opportunity to look the quarterbacks way, because against the sideline a WR only has one place to go while being "armed". Humpf never looks, so that tells a positional analyst the position is not natural to him at all. It could be argued he's a natural safety and perhaps with Harbaugh's departure. that is where he will wind up.

Fitz had a great game. When he's on, he's on. If he torched Lattimore good for him.

I will say I disagree with one thing. I don’t think our run defense was bad nor do I think Brandon Williams was bad. Williams has never been the best pass rusher he offers a little there but not much his value is keeping guys clean and I know it was live but it seemed like he helped guys like Kenny Young stay clean to make some of those plays. Outside of that one Mixon run I thought we played Mixon very well. We got lit up against the pass that’s why we lost, which makes sense due to Onuwasor coming in for Mosley. That was idiotic to have him making the calls and I hope Kenny Young is learning right now how to make those calls

You guys will beat Denver next week. Playing another game after 4 days rest is tough.
