Actually it was! Lol!
I had more confidence in that team than these post Super Bowl Ravens squads now. That's for sure! That SB Ravens squad had 2.....4 game win stetches in that season I believe? And think that they only lost 4 road games as well? Then, they played solid football throughout the playoffs and even Joe Flacco (who's the least of my favorite Ravens) was incredible with no INT's during that stretch to reach and win the Super Bowl. So to me, for fans to keep trying to compare these Ravens teams with that Super Bowl 47 team as validation that they may start off rocky and then all of a sudden catch fire is quite idiotic and assanine.
Sure, we "try" to learn from the past but the reality is that the caliber of the rosters are completely different! That SB team had the likes of cats like: Flacco, Torrey Smith, Anquan Boldin, Jacoby Jones, Dennis Pitta, Matt Birk, Yanda, Ray Rice, Ray Lewis, Sugss, Ngata, Ed Reed, Webb, Jimmy Smith, Bernard "Patriots Killer" Pollard, Ellerbe, Upshaw and Tucker to name a few. Not perfect by any means but they were ballers! That team (including Flacco) will FOREVER hold a special place in my heart due to the efforts that those boys played with in honor of themselves, Art Modell and Ray Lewis' "Last Ride!"
They raised the bar in "my" expectation for "my" team that I make no apologies about having but unfortunately, that expectation (in their game play) has not be reached since the departure of most of those players from Baltimore. Back then, regardless of their opponents, (because of how they played) I was able to confidently say; "My Ravens got this!" Now? Man please! Lol! Due to their inconsistencies, I'm damn near suprised when they pull off a win. So, let's see what happens when the Broncos come to town.
GO RAVENS!!
