The Clunky, The Win and The Injuries... Again

Playing Cincy on the road after they just got blown out by another division rival when we could at worst be missing Marlon, Andrews, Dobbins, Williams, Stanley, and Linderbaum sounds like a nightmare
eh, it's a division game that should always be competitive no matter who either team puts on the field. Given all of the offensive weapons we have and the way the D played yesterday we should be fine, just have to execute much better.

Thought Lamar was pretty accurate

made some bone headed plays (carelessness) but I chalk that up to rust. He probably should have used his legs alittle more.

That throw to Zay and Odell up the sidelines was a thing of beauty.

I don't think it's time to worry about the O-line yet. They need time.

It’s fine they’re missing some guys… oh wait, nope they don’t have any injuries and even have a thread talking about how the Browns and Ravens sustained key injuries and they didn’t. Fuck them, they’re so lucky

And they won’t get it if Stanley and Tyler are out

I think Ro is going to get this team fired up for the Bengals. That man was on a mission in the WC game. He’s bringing the big dick energy to Cinci again and we got Lamar this time. Lamar shook that rust off in week 1 so you know he’s going to go off

Injuries are obviously the drain here, but some positives to pull out as well.

Offense looked to be largely rust. When the OL was operating efficiently, so was the offense as a whole.

Very curious to see how the Monken offense progresses. Felt very scripted today even beyond Flowers. Hope there’s some opening up in there because we need to be able to pump the ball vertically as well.

Defense was pretty damn good outside of the penalties. I was quite impressed by the pass rush as a whole. Oweh in particular may not show in the stat book, but he and Tunsil were having some really good battles all game.

Secondary was also good considering. Stephens and Darby both played very well I thought. Also another position where I’m curious where they go from here. The 3 S looks were nice but with Williams down, Hamilton might be stuck playing a more traditional S role. Felt like we were more effective with him in the slot than Ar’Darius… not that he played poorly though by any means.

when lamar settled and the OL started to gel, Lamar started to look downfield and we looked somewhat dangerous - space opened up for bate in the middle, Zay was Zay and Odell got us two PIs and an explosive...

handling errors not withstanding, that 2nd half eased some early concerns

clearly not a finished product but... positives to draw

I've been saying this for years and yet the team makes changes for prevention and it still keeps happening ..don't know what to make of it

ultimately it's a contact sport and shit happens

the Dobbins injury was in a tackle, the Williams injury was making a tackle, the Linderbaum and Ronnie ones were both guys being rolled up on - the kind of stuff that happens and hard to attribute it to much more than just pure luck

it's not soft-tissue stuff which makes it really difficult to guard against i guess

just luck

i didnt think id be missing keaton mitchell lol

im hoping that we're just gonna ride hill and gus and gordon's just there as RB3
Let my man stand there with a helmet in his hand all game. Only time you get to consider putting it on is if one of the other dudes gets hurt.

I know he's been a popular whipping boy, but Brandon Stephens played some big boy football today. Seeing some repeat clips on socials and he was out there laying the wood.

and nearly had a spectacular play that ultimately led to a big play for the texans too
nearly picked off a ball - saw the explosion on that break and for once he even got a hand on the ball but couldnt quite get the pick or the PD...

he's been consistently good through his first 3 seasons with the ball in front of him - it's been downfield in man coverage where he's struggled at the catch-point
